How to transport variable variants

I want to transport the variable variants? how can i do that? in BI7 system.

Looks Funny, but i got the variants i have created in Dev to QAS. I thought of creating in QA but when i checked them, they already exists. Did u checked in RSRT , Query Variants after transporting the Query ?
In my case i have used the Variant in the APD's.

Transporting Variable Variant

Hi everybody,
I have created a variable variant in the IP modeler (under the tab "Planning Sequences") and now I wish to transport it.
Variable variants do not appear in the BW transport connetion as a separate item to be selected. Nor does the variable variant go with the Planning Sequence when it is transported.
Does anybody know how to get this object onto a transport request?

You can't do maintanance for this table, becouse it's in SAP standart content.
There are no capabilities to add record of table RSRPARAMETRIZA using se16 ("Table Entry" -> "Transport Enties" not active) in new system version.
So you need do next
1. GOTO SE09 to
Either create a new workbench request or goto the old request (Objects Tab)
2. Press Edit button
3. Enter the following in the row:
Prog Id = R3TR
Obj Type = TABU
Obj Name = RSRPARAMETRIZA (RSRPARAMETRIZAT)
Then Press ENTER
4. A Key Button will come on the Right column.
Press it. A New screen will come.
5. In Table Keys enter : YouVariant(SPACE)*
Save the request and transport.
YouVariant - Tech Name of you RSPC variables variant
(SPACE) - Few spaces, it's need if tech name of you variant not equal 30, so number of spaces = 30 - length of tech name your varian

How to transport BEX variants in BI?

Hi,
after the bw-upgrade we have problems with the transport of our variants created in BEX. In BW 3.1 we used saplsvar ( with report-id and variantname) to create a transport. But this doesn't work with BI. Does anyone know which parameter saplsvar need to create a transport in BI?- Or which other alternativ exists to transport a variant.

the new variants will be stored only in RSRVARIANT, but not in the VARID. In VARID are only the variants saved in 3.x version.
But how can I transport RSRVARIANT; its a SAP-table?
I'm looking for a program like RSTRANSP, because this program will not work with BI.

How to transport Query variant used in APD

Hello Experts,
I have created 2 query variants for a query in Development system. And, these variants are being used in APD. Now, when APD is transported to next system, query variants does not exist in next system, so cannot execute APD.
Please let me know how can i transport the query variants.
Note: Gone through SDN, and found, query variants can be transported through some tables.
Please let me any other possibile sloutions for the same.

Hi Lavanya,
To the best of my knowledge, you cannot transport query variants. You have to manually create them in each system. The reason being, when you try to create variants through RSRT -> Query Variants, you are basically trying to create variants for a temporary program generated during run time!
These run time programs do not have TADIR entries (not transportable) and hence any sub elements (like variants) created on these programs are not transportable as well.
Actually you can export variants.Please follow the below steps:
1. Go To TCode SE38.
2. Execute "RSTRANSP".
3. Input your program name.
4. Input your variant name ie. "Z**** ".
5. Execute.
6. Click on continue.
7. You should be able to create a new transport at this point.

Can any one please help me in transporting alv display variants?Actually I have transported the variants ,but only selection variants are getting transported.I want to transport ALV display variants accross the clients.

Please use the following :
First execute the report .
Then Menubar Settings> Layout> layout management>select your variant> menubar layout--> transport
This will work only when your variant management is activve in your ALV report.

How could I transport the variant and layout setting in SE16

Would any of you please advise me on how to transport the variant and layout setting in SE16? I cannot see any transport request in the menu but would like to understand how to manage through transport requests.

I'd like to know the way to transport report variants of queries.
Trying to execute queries, you can find a "Available Variants" field on the top of Variable Entry pages of report (query). With this feature, you can save the settings of variable that you enter and re-use the settings by using saved variants.
We make lots of variants and want to transport them. But I'm not sure how to transport them. (I tried to find those objects in Transport Connection window of RSA1, but I cannot find...)

query variants are stored in table RSRVARIANT.
You should transport the table contents(via SE16 or SE10).
If you upgraded from 3.x, make sure you converted the variants by running report RSR_VARIANT_XPRA.

KE28 - How to transport variant.?

I'd like to know how to transport the BW query's variable to BO 's webi . today ,I created a sap customer varible in my bw system to get the max calmonth in the active table.The varible in the BW side run's well ,but I use this query to build a new univers ,and created a new webi report base on this univers ,but the question is the webi report can't get the varible's value I wann to know how to transport the bw varible value to BO webi report

I have changed my variaable in my bw query ,I found if you use SAP default variable it is ok in BO side . So I get a guidline by SAP default variable ,I changed my customer variable in variables edite ,don't use 'ready for input' .And then the variable can be useful in BO side .

If you are asking about "slection vairants" in SPRO settings of "shipment cost document" then
When it is activated,
each user can have his own slecetion and list criteria for
1. List shippment costs:calculation
2. List shippment costs: settlement
This can be directly saved from VI01 screen by the user.
from environment> lists
This is user specific only.

Hello to every SDN member,
I am looking to transport a transaction variant and the related screen variants.
I read the help and I am concerned by the paragraph about the Client-specific transaction variants because when I created the transaction variant, no dialog box appeared.
In the paragraph about the Client-specific transaction variants, it is told to transport the variants with the Transport function but the problem is that I cannot find it. How can I use this function? It is not in the toolbar and not in the differents menus.
Can you please give me the solution to transport the transaction variant and the screen variant?

Hi,
You can transport a variant by :
1. Running the program RSTRANSP. Mention your program and variant name there.
2.Create a variant with prefix 'CUS&'. This type of variants will be automatically transported to target system through transport request.
3.Go to Se38 --> Input report name --> Select Variants
On the screen --> Go to Utilities -> Select transport request
--> Provide the program name and Variant --> Assign Transport request to variant. Then release the transport.

How to transport variant deletion

I need to delete some variants from various systems like development box, SIT and UAT systems also.
I have deleted the variant from the dev. system but now when I try to put it in the transport request, I am getting the message that the variant does not exist.
I am unable to put the variant deletion in a transport request.
Please someone help me in deleting the variants from the SIT and UAT systems... How do I transport the variant deletion..?

Hi,
Try to re-create the variant in the Development system with the same name and put the object in a request. After this you can delete it in the development system. This way your deletion should get transported to other systems.
This may also depend on your configuration. You might have to delete the variants manually in each system.

you can create a transport request in SE38 for the variants of a program. You could then use transaction SCC1 to copy those changes from one client to another.
To create transport:
1) Go to transaction SE38 and enter the program name.
2) Click the radio button next to the "Variants" subobject and click the "Change" button
3) On "ABAP: Variants" screen, select menu path "Utilities -> Transport request"
4) Enter the variant(s) you want to copy into the "Variant name" box.
5) Click the execute button and save the data to a new change request.
To copy to new client:
1) Log on to target client and goto transaction SCC1.
2) Enter the source client and change request number from above.
3) Click the execute button.
Please note that if you're doing this in a downstream system (i.e. not a development box) you may need to change the client settings temporarily to carry out the client to client copy in SCC1.

MMPV - Close period - How to create a variant

Hello all,
Transaction MMPV is used to close the MM period and open a new one. Currently, we run this transaction every month MANUALLY.
We would like to create a variant that will open the new period automatically every month. The only problem is the period / year that changes every month (I do not know how to create a variant with changed values - if it is at all possible).
How can we create a variant that will run every month to close the MM period ?

Hello Isaac
It is possible......But to make it happen you need to go with date field and not with Period and year.
Steps -
1 - Enter field FROM Comp Code and TO Comp Code
2 - Enter the date (E.g - 05-Mar-2007)
3 - Save as varient....Give the varient names as required.
4 - Activate the 4th checkbox (Selection variable) in front of date field
5 - Click on button 'Selection variable' at the top of screen.
6 - Click on YELLOW light. This will turn it GREEN. Now you have 1st light as YELLO which was previously yello.
7 - Click on the down arrow just below the yello light.
8 - Select the appropriate option and save the varient.
The day of batch job scheduling depends upon the options you selected in the 8th step.
I hope it clarifies your dought and will allow you to create the varient as per your requirement.
