How to Trim Real Media File .rm In Macintosh?

Any idea?

"Record" it as it plays using any audio capture software. I use WireTap.
If you can't get the correct timing you can open and edit the recording using QuickTime Pro.

  • How to convert real media files to quicktime for iPod

I want to know how to convert a real media file into a format that is recognizable by my iPod. Do I need to convert it into a Quicktime movie? And if I already have quick time movies on my computer, will they play on my iPod without any need of conversion?
    Thanks

MP4 is the format you need. You will need a third party program to convert it for viewing on your ipod. See this link
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067
There are many freeware programs out there for convertering. Beware of people that will direct you to a site where you have to pay for the program. There are many Spammers on this forum that will try to have you buy a particular program. Do a search for free conversion programs and you will find many.

  • Any way of getting Real Media files to play in Front Row?

I was just wondering if there is any way to get Real Media files to play in Front Row? I realise this is probably not possible, but I thought I'd ask people who know more about this than me!!
I do have Real Player installed if that helps......

Probably not right now. Since Front Row uses iPhoto to play slideshows, the DVD Player to play DVDs, iTunes to play MP3s and the QuickTime Player to play videos, there's no way now to change the default video player application. All of those connections are hard-wired into the software. Apple has not released any kind of SDK (software development kit) for third parties to add on to Front Row, so it would have to be an unauthorized hack to get another video player to run. I might suggest you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback and let them know you'd like to see third party add-ons to Front Row.

  • Trimming original media files

I'm working on a project which references lots of huge media files, but only takes a few seconds of footage from each.
Is there a way (as there was in FCP 7) to trim those media files so that they don't take up terabytes of space on my hard drive? (I could just export them from a project, but that will reset the timecode to zero, and I want to preserve the original timestamp on the shortened clip.)
    Any thoughts?

I renamed a disk VIDEO, and I can't get FCP X to recognise it as a camera, no matter what.
Very strange - I've only heard of this once before and I don't know of any remedy. Presumably the disk is correctly formatted (Mac OS Extended)? Does it contain other folders / files?
Yes, correctly formatted, and yes contains lots of other folders and files. I'm guessing that this is the reason FCP X won't recognise it as a camera.
I have another disk which only contains files, and FCP Xalways recognises it as a camera no matter what name I give it.
Are there any folders in the root of the drive which could suggest they contain camera files (DCIM, Video, Movie etc)?
No, nothing on the partition at all except a couple of video files at the root level.

  • How to Find Lurking Media Files

    Hi,
I'm trying to clear off a mac mini so I can sell it. The only software on it is Final Cut Express, Soundtrack, LiveType and iLife '05. I deleted everything out of iTunes, and I thought all media files and renders from the couple projects I had in Final Cut Xpress. My problem is there is still 18gigs being used from the internal SATA drive. I realize the software uses space - but not that much right? What could be lurking? How do I find media files if maybe all I really did was delete names and not the actual media??? Any help/insight appreciated!! Thanks.

OK, I went to whatsize (kind folks over in mac mini forum directed me there too!) and from another forum there, I learned how to make the finder show me the size of everything. I don't have any lurking media files as I feared, but it seems LiveType is a big space hog! Does this sound right - almost 8 gigs for LiveType Data folder? The entire Library Folder is over 11 Gigs combined - please forgive how completely un-informed and newbie I must sound....

  • Rm - Real Media Files - Conversion to MV4

Someone sent me a rm video file (Real Media) that I would like to play on my Xbox 360. Does anyone know how to convert an RM file to mov or mv4 or avi or some other video file format that is supported by something other than Real Media? I would be happy to purchase a converter if someone can recommend a good one.
I only expect to do this one time, BTW.

  • How to import real media to iTunes?

I have heaps of .rm and .rmvb videos that I'd like to play on my iPod. I figured the easiest way to do it would be to import the files to iTunes and then convert to iPod format. But I can't open the files in iTunes. I have the latest version of it too. Is there something I can do to get real media onto my iPod?

iTunes does not support those codecs. You're going to have to scour google for a conversion program that will allow you to import the files into iTunes as a supported format (mp3, aac, wav, etc).

  • HT1391 How to move my media files to another drive with Itunes 11

I am using Itunes 11 on a Windows 7 PC.  My C Drive is full and I am trying to move all my media files to D drive.  While previous versions of Itunes seem  to allow this, the instructions for doing so with Itunes 11 state that files already on the drive will stay where they are even if you change the location of the media file.  Only new files will move to the new location.

    About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

  • HT1751 How to transfer iTunes media files from external drive to another external drive and bring in the library from the main drive.

I have my iTunes media on an external hard drive while the library is on the main computer drive. I want to move both to a larger external drive. How do I get both together? When I consolidate, it only transfers the media files. Help.

Since I already consolidated, can I just move the library to the root level of the external drive then option click to point to that library? But using that method, all the media files are at the root level along with the iTunes folder. So nothing will be in the iTunes media folder itself. WIll that work?

  • How to have original media files outside libray

I have recently upgraded to 10.1.3 and use the new libraries functionality. I have created different libraries for my projects (by year) and consolidate the project, so, now, I have an event with video files and project inside.
I have realize that I have the original video files inside the library file, so it means that now I have all my videos duplicated, one time on the original folder where I copied, and other inside the library.
I would like to maintain videos outside of final cut library, and do not make sense to maintain also duplicated on the library (I also have a back up on a network drive).
There is an easy way to “link” event files to original location outside of the library? Or I have to manually delete and fix one by one?
    Thanks in advance.

Follow Tom's advice, which tells you how to move the media outside the library - but don't try to move them over the original ones.
At this point, you'll still have two copies of the clips - in the original folder and one on the folder you now selected.
As Tom pointed out, you'll now have symlinks in your library. Now comes the thrilling part.
    1) Erase the recently moved clips - all the clips will be offline, showing as red in FCP X.
    2) Use the Relink functionality to point them to the original folder. FCP X is clever enough that you need only select a superfolder containing the media, even if different clips lay there inside different subfolders.
This should all run smoothly, BUT... As always, back things up first - namely, your library - before doing potentially dangerous thinks like deleting your precious files.

  • How to free up media files that cannot be delete u...

I watched a couple of videos on the lumia last night. I used the browser to "stream" these by the movie player. The two movies were about 2Gb each.
Now I have no free storage on the device.
I have tried going to storage check and it tells me that of the 7.2G 7.1G is use with 4.4Gb in media files. The next screen ("details") shows an "other" of 4Gb.  How do I delete those temporary files? None of the options work. I don't want to do a factory reset. This is unacceptable. And I don't want a 4GB phone, whenI paid for 8Gb. How do I delete these files and reclaim this space?
