How to troubleshoot Miracast pairing/connecting?

Question

Using Windows 8.1. I'm having trouble getting Miracast to pair properly with a TV. Using certain modes on the TV, sometimes I manage to add it as a device, for a few seconds anyway, but establishing an actual connection in the Project menu never works.
Is there a way to enable logging to see what's going on in the pairing/adding process, and when trying to connect for projection?

How did you operate? Have you add it successfully?
If yes, remove it completely, and then follow this guide to get it:
