How to: turn dvd burn verification OFF?

I burn DVD all the time and walk away, and come back to find the disk in verification, which cause more time than I want.
How do I turn verification off?
thanks

I have the same question and it is regarding burning
with OS X 10.4.7, where you insert blank media, click
it open, drag files to burn onto it and hit the burn
bar at the top of the window.
It will automatically start verifying after burning.
This is probably smart, but not desired from my
standpoint.
Once it gets to the verify phase you can click the cancel button in the progress window to stop it.

  • Turn Burn "verification" off before burning a CD/ DVD

What I love about OS X is that you can easily burn any CD/DVD without having to jump all the hoops and loops found in windows.
HOWEVER, there are times when I just want to turn off the data verification before a CD/DVD starts burning. I could simply hit the "X" and deal with all the other error and warning messages after it finishes... OR I could turn the data verification off before hand and have a smooth process...
I know that programs like Dragon Burn and Toast allow you to turn the verification off. However, I am not planing on spending $49-$99 just for that feature...
So, does anybody know how to do this without having to mess around the terminal too much.
    Thanks

Thank you for the reply, I am not burning disk images, I am burning different documents, presentations, videos and audio.
I have used hdiutil before but there is no real point for me to build disk images out of my files if I am only going to use it once...
I was hoping there would be a check box or a shortcut key somewhere for turning the verification off...
I'm not aware of an option like this. it's probably not built into GUI at all.

  • Turning Ken Burns Effect off

I'm working on an imovie project and am getting frustrated with turning the Ken Burns effect off on every photo.
Is there a way to turn it off for the entire project?

If you go into File > Project Properties, you'll see a drop down menu for initial photo placement. If you choose fit in frame this should keep still you add from automatically going all "Ken Burns."
Why Apple defaults to this stupid setting I have no idea. It should be a choice not a standard.

  • Volume slider - how to turn the clicky sound off?

hullo I have a new gorgeous HP pavilion.
it has a really slick looking exterior (looking slick w/ Windows 7 & word 2010), and a slick volume slider.
BUT - when I use the volume slider, the volume change is always accompanied by a clicking noise that sometimes lags - which is really annoying.
I changed the settings under personalization (i.e. the option when you right click on the desktop), but that hasn't stopped the clicking.
Any ideas how to turn it off?
    Thanks!

I have the same issue.  Have you ever found a solution?

  • How to test DVD burner

Plays DVD, but won't burn with iDVD. How can I test if DVD burner is working?

you could try a different burning program or just open Finder and select a file or 2 and then Right Click and select Burn, Have a CD or DSVd disc in the drive. If they get burnt to the disc it is working. If it pops up an error then more then likely the drive is failing.
You could just go out and buy any external DVD drive and it will work with your Mac. It does not have to be solded by or have the Apple name on it to work on your Mac, or any Mac.

  • DVD Burning Shuts Off Computer

    Hello
I'm trying to burn a DVD with just the normal burn folder. The file fits on a DVD(2.61 gb). The file is just a disk image of my Logic songs. I so far have wasted 5 DVD's trying to burn this thing.
About half way through burning the computer turns off. I have done serveral things to try and fix the problem like: getting rid of pronanction marks in the file and disc name, Turning off screensaver and sleep mode. The computer just turns off no warnings.
Please can anybody help. I have Leopard 10.5 I don't have any OS updates and can't download them as I don't have broadband.
    Pleas thanks.

  • DVD Burn/Verification Failure &   -R vs. +R  Fix

The PROBLEM: (three trials, three failures)
Burning DVD with digital picture files.
Burned from Finder and Burn Folder.
Burns completely but fails verification process.
Appears not to enter the verification process at all.
Error Message: This disc did not verify correctly and is unreliable. Because this disc is unreliable, discard it and try again using a new blank disc. (Error code 0x80020063)
    Media: Maxell DVD+R
However, disc could be read and files used in Photoshop despite the warning. In other words, the discs perform as normal, properly burned discs.
    The FIX:
    Replaced Media, Maxell DVD-R.
    Worked just fine.
    New QUESTION:
Is there a way to speed up or, more probable, to remove the Verification process step? To burn 2.75GB required about 14 minutes and the verification process seemed longer than that. I am unsure of the verification step because in watching the meter the percentage counter seemed to move slower and Boogie, my bulldogge, was in no mood to wait; he had to go for a walk so I left with 85% to go. When I got back, disc was ejected, no message on the screen, and after testing it was perfect.
    The HARDWARE:
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K04L:
    Firmware Revision: D441
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2000 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
    Media: No

    Thanks folks, appreciate the help.
I prefer the TDK blanks based on success in the past with CDs, but in a pinch and Staples is close by, Maxell was the best they had.
I am burning at 2X, the fastest option offered when burning from Finder. I will try the Disk Ute and drop verification. After burning 4 DVDs now I have confidence in the process and hardware. However, I do a quick eject and re-insert of the disc to make sure all the files are there and readable; this does not take 15 minutes.
I have over 20K digital picture files or apprx'tly 105GB to back-up from my back-up external hdd. Looks like over 25 hours at least including verifying each DVD. I want to streamline the process.
Hopefully I will not prograstinate so long next time before doing back-ups.

  • How to turn DVD in mov.

I have a dvd that I want to make into a format that I am able to edit in final cut pro x. Do I turn it into mov.? If so how do I do that?

Copy protected means the disc has encoding that prevents the content from being copied. Most Hollywood movies are copy protected. If you rip the disc using Streamclip the disc is not changed at all. You want to edit the media right, not just copy the disc?

  • DVD Burn/Verification failure copying jpg images

I am trying to backup my files onto DVD's for backup purposes with one DVD per year.
I am using Philips DVD -R disks (max 8x I think) and I have had about 6 fail in the verification stage and a couple that verify OK but when I try and access the files after ejecting and relaoding my iMac whirs for a while and then just chucks the DVD out of the drive with no message.
Finder seems to only have an option to burn at x1 speed and I have seen in other posts that x4 or x6 or x8 may be better.
Can anyone throw any light on this problem please?
    Thanks in hope.

Try Verbatim DVD-R. Most reliable brand.
Finder seems to only have an option to burn at x1 speed and I have seen in other posts that x4 or x6 or x8 may be better.
That's using Toast or Disk Utilty with iDVD projects, not data.

  • How to keep dvd burn session open

When i backup my photos for storage onto a DL DVD or on any cd/dvd the burner closes the session after the burn. Are there settings that can be changed to allow a burn session to remain open so i'm not wasting storage space?

There is nothing remotely resembling a standard for multi-session DVDs. That is probably why Apple provides no option for this at all.
The other poster included a link to instructions on how to make a multi-session CD. Those instructions won't work for a DVD.

  • How To Control DVD burn speed?

I want to burn the DVD at some speed lower than the default of 8X. How can it be controlled?

    Hello Doc,
I want to burn the DVD at some speed lower than the default of 8X.
    Wise decision
You'll need to create a disk image (File > Save as Disk Image) in iDVD. The resulting .img file can then be burned with either Disk Utility or, if you have, Toast.
    hope this helps

you can turn off all system sound effects in system preferences->sounds->sound effect. but that will turn off everything including empty trash sound and so on. I don't believe there is a good way to turn off just the screen capture sound. you can of course delete or replace the system sound file that plays when you take a screenshot but this is not something I would consider doing...
