  • Volume slider - how to turn the clicky sound off?

hullo I have a new gorgeous HP pavilion.
it has a really slick looking exterior (looking slick w/ Windows 7 & word 2010), and a slick volume slider.
BUT - when I use the volume slider, the volume change is always accompanied by a clicking noise that sometimes lags - which is really annoying.
I changed the settings under personalization (i.e. the option when you right click on the desktop), but that hasn't stopped the clicking.
Any ideas how to turn it off?
    Thanks!

I have the same issue.  Have you ever found a solution?

  • E5 key pad tones

Just got my new E5. Everything works OK exept:
In standby mode only following keys makes tone:
W, All keys with numbers, *,Hash, +, P, shift, symb and Ctrl.
Rest of keys makes tone only in contacts or in message writing mode.
I had previously E71 and all keys were making tone in standby mode.
Nokia and Vodafone told me it is fault. We went through different restoration procedures. Vodafone agreed to exchange it. Just got second brand new one from Vodafone and the same story.
I wonder perhaps it should be like this on E5. I am no longer bother myself calling Nokia or Vodafone.
Can any one with E5 confirm it?

At last someone answer me! Thanks mate!!!
I had same response from keys.
I get confused because I had before E71 and on it all keys made tone even on second press.
At last I know that my phone is not faulty and it is supposed to be like that...Although it sucks...
But E5 GREAT phone - I am professional salesman and hard phone user..Perhaps very hard user and still I can easily go through 2 days without charging.
    Thanks mate for response!!!
THANKS NOKIA FOR LONG LIFE of E5 it is business PHONE!!!
No one phone on market can perform like it!!!!!!!!

  • How to: turn dvd burn verification OFF?

I burn DVD all the time and walk away, and come back to find the disk in verification, which cause more time than I want.
How do I turn verification off?
    thanks

I have the same question and it is regarding burning
with OS X 10.4.7, where you insert blank media, click
it open, drag files to burn onto it and hit the burn
bar at the top of the window.
It will automatically start verifying after burning.
This is probably smart, but not desired from my
    standpoint.
Once it gets to the verify phase you can click the cancel button in the progress window to stop it.

  • How to turn the screenshot sound off

    whenever i take screenshots
    command shift 3
    it makes a camera sound
how do i turn that off?

you can turn off all system sound effects in system preferences->sounds->sound effect. but that will turn off everything including empty trash sound and so on. I don't believe there is a good way to turn off just the screen capture sound. you can of course delete or replace the system sound file that plays when you take a screenshot but this is not something I would consider doing...

  • On mac I can set my own alert sound...but it plays simultaneously with the default mac alert tone...turn the default tone off in in Notifications=both turn off!

  • How to turn broadcast SSID on/off

EA3500, I'm using the Smart Wi-Fi interface through a browser. How do I make my router broadcast the SSID? I think it was when I was setting up using the old interface, before updating the firmware, that I set it to *not* broadcast the network name. Now I feel like I've been all through the menus twice on the Smart Wi-Fi interface, and can't find the on/off toggle. Help?

I found this in a thread on Amazon, pasted in from a Cisco release:
    ============
If the router's SSID Broadcast is Disabled when the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router firmware is installed, the option will no longer be available in the Router Settings section. The network will continue to be hidden unless the user resets the router to factory settings. Resetting the router will set the SSID broadcast option back to Enabled again.
    ============
So I guess I'll have to do a factory reset.

  • Probe window: how to turn "do not ask" off?

When I dismiss the probe watch window, there is (by default) a "Are you sure?" dialog. There is also a "do not ask again" checkbox. I checked this box a while ago, but now would like to be asked again. I cwould like to find out how to un-do this choice, and turn the dialog back on.
    Thanks!

Open your LabVIEW.ini file, and fine the line:
    WatchWindowDoNotAskOnClose=True
And remove the line and save, or change it to a False.  There might be a menu somewhere to re-enable it but this is where it is stored.  You may need to restart LabVIEW.

  • How to turn on ringing tone on iphone 5

My iphone is just on silent, not ringing despite a high volume. Pls assist

Do you have the mute switch engaged? It's the little slider over the volume buttons on the side. If you can see orange, it's engaged. Slide it the other way.
    Best of luck.

  • Xerox Phaser 8860 on Network-How to turn off popup print job confirmations?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.6.4 and as expected I needed to reinstall the drivers for a few peripherals. One of which was the Xerox Phaser 8860 which is on the network. Everything works, but now after each print job prints out a window pops up in the center of the screen notifying me that ::Job### has printed on Xerox Phaser 8860::. It causes no serious problems, but it does knock me out of what ever program I am using. Which can get extremely annoying when I'm drawing and I repeatedly get halted mid (pen/brush) stroke. It stays up on the screen for about a minute and a few times it has remained up. There is an option to close, it simply gets really annoying after the 30th time. Common sense would suggest to not draw while a file is on it's way to the printer, but my work day is a constant flow of drawing, printing, color tests and editing. It's not practical or good for deadlines to stop drawing to wait for a print job to come out and the pop up window to go away.
I tested printing from the other computers, which are PC's using various versions of windows and they all come up with the same pop up window (though theirs come up at the bottom right of the screen). They do not receive confirmation windows from the other printers not on the network.
This suggested to me that this was a setting with the Xerox software. However, I spoke to the technical support for Xerox and they said that the pop up window had nothing to do with their software and claim that it had to be generated by the Mac OS 10.6.4.
I am regularly printing from the following programs:
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Word, and Excel. The pop out window has acquired while printing files from all of these programs. I doubt that has any relation but I thought I'd add it, just in case.
I would very much like to know how to turn this confirmation notification off in OS 10.6.4. Or if anyone has an thoughts on what software could be the culprit.

In CWIS go to Properties > General > Printer Defaults and disable the Startup page  As for garbage prints, That sounds like a PS error. And they are almost always due to improperly embedded fonts. Have all your users switch the following in their drivers (Picture is the global driver, but the regular driver will have the same option.) Essentially by default the printer uses its own locally stored fonts on the jobs, but when the fonts are misunderstood, or unknown it winds up printing wingdings.

  • How to turn off display while connected to external monitor??

I'm running my macbook into an external monitor, using wireless mouse and keyboard. I want to get full power from my graphics card so would like to know how to turn the macbook screen off while connected to the larger monitor. I have read that simply closing the lid and then waking it with the mouse will work, however wont this activate the screen as well while the lids closed? Any advice would be great!
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Philip
    here is the link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300562
And it won't turn the built screen on since macbook has sensor to prevent it turn on while it closed.
    Good Luck.

  • How to turn off hard disk identification in LR 3.3?

    Hi!
I have a problem with LR 3.3 on my Windows XP. I have a lot of harddisk (1TB, 2TB SATA2, made by Samsung) in my XP system with my RAW photos, all encrypted by Truecrypt. When I need to import my existings photos from that secured harddisk (Truecrypt is the best tool i have tested), LR 3.3 is blocking option Move and Add in Import dialog.
I must duplicate my photos by Copy options only - like from memory card.
LR 3.3 is thinking, that my encrypted harddisks are my memory cards, and is disable Add and Move option.
How to turn that bad identyfication off?
And in the end, every time when I want to import photos - LR 3.3 is searching all my TB harddisks (more then 30 minutes) to create and show my thumbs in folders - and I can not stop this searching. How to turn it off too?
    Regards

    Remisteness,
There are a few things to mention regarding your problem:
    1) Scanning all of the Drive(s) after Starting Import
Right after the import dialog opens, try to click onto an internal drive as soon as possible and uncheck "Include Subfolders". This should prevent the scanning of the drive(s).
    2) What is presented to the O/S for an Encrypted Device
Obviously, your encryption software presents the "virtual" drives as removable devices to the operating system, which leads LR to treat them as "Cards".
I have a similar software in use to access encrypted data in "Container Files" (SafeGuard PrivateDisk). In SafeGuard PrivateDisk, I can configure how a "virtual" drive is presented to the Operating System, either as a removable device or as a simulated harddisk. If I choose "Simulate Harddisk", the "virtual" drive is represented like a harddisk in my WinXP and LR does not show it as a removable device, hence without the restriction imposed on "Cards" during import.
    3) Restrictions imposed by LR while Importing from "Cards"
LR prevents users from moving photos when directly accessing a memory card, because if a file would get corrupted during import no valid copy of the image would exist anywhere anymore. Also, adding photos residing on a real memory card does not make sense either, as too many users would be looking for their original images after disconnecting the (and possibly reformatting) the memory card.
There has been a lengthy discussion in this forum lately on whether it makes sense or not that LR tries to protect users from their own wrong doing. I guess one can see it either way, and the limitations chosen by Adobe kind of protect Adobe from too many questions/accusations.
    4) Workaround for LR 3.3
To be able to add or move from a removable device in LR 3.3, you can do the following:
Create yourself one or two Import Presets, with Add or Move as the action to be performed. You have to create these presets while doing a test-import from a interal or external HDD, and save them from there.
When accessing your removable device, access the drive by clicking onto the drive letter in the drive list below "Files", and not by clicking onto the removable device under "Devices"
Choose one of the Import Presets built in step 1
This will use Move or Add as the action to be performed (note that no action at all will be highlighted), even though you're importing from a "Card".
As this behaviour is a hidden/undocumented feature (or even bug?), we do not know whether this possibility will still be existing in future releases of LR, but for right now it seems to be a workaround.

  • How to turn off spelling check in iCal

hi, i am new to mac (yeah, i finally made The Transition) and i have the latest Mac OS X Version 10.6.3. would anyone please advise me on how to turn the spelling check off in iCal. i can't seem to find any right answer. thanks a lot.

A post from April 2010 and a similar question from 2009, both unanswered. Does this mean iCal spell checking can't be disabled?
I find it outrageously annoying, worse than ordinary annoying, because the calendar is full of ten-dollar words like surnames that will always note as wrong. It's like having a surname highlighting feature. I can't even turn it off in a single event because the next time I launch iCal it's back on again by default. For that matter, why is the active toggle there at all if you can only turn it off for the duration of a session? I suppose I've adapted by turning it off manually every time a red squiggly appears, but I haven't stopped thinking about it.
Is spell check impossible to turn off permanently?

  • HT2128 how do i turn this annoying guardian off?

I went through this "Guardian Stuff" with Microsoft back in Vista and in Windows 7.  But there I found I could turn the annoying dialogue boxes off that came up every-other keystroke.  Now Apple has gone this route.  It infuriated me then with Windows, but now I just would like to determine how to turn the
"Guardian Boxes" off that try to safe-guard me.  I have been through all the options in System Preferences and cannot identify where the on/off switch for these annoying dialogue boxes is located.  Help.

I too would like to have this "guardian" turned off. I'm using 10.6.8. OS. Every time I open a browser, Chrome or Firefox, I get the following: (and yes, I really do want to open Chrome - every time).
