How to turn off CTRL+scroll zoom in the grid view of Lightroom?

Please help - I'm working with a big catalogue, where I have to do a lot of scrolling and keywording. I'm new to Windows machine (corporate), and having a problem when I want to hold CTRL and scroll down (to individually select more photos), it only zooms in and out...
Then if I release ctrl, there is always a risk to slip and lose the previous selection. When the workflow is thousands of photos to wade through, it is not fun at all and a waste of time.
There must a be a way of turning it off!
Would appreciate any help.

Hi,
If you wish to keep the CTRL key pressed and scroll up or down a grid list, just use the mouse on the scroll bar on the RH side of the grid.
To zoom you need to press CTRL and +/-.
If you press the CTRL key and try to use the up/down arrow keys to scroll it will increase/decrease the flag status of the currently selected image.

However, most of the time I will want to turn horizontal scrolling off. This is easy to do with other Apple mice and even other manuf brands.
So - how to do this with the whiz bang boom Magic Mouse ???
turning off the checkbox "Two Fingers - Swipe Left/Right to Navigate" doesnt fix this.

How to turn off automatic scrolling to top of Browser list?

I'm having an issue in Aperture 3.2.1 that I've found to be very annoying. I'm curious if there's a way to disable this particular behavior. Opening an image from the Browser view causes the Browser list to scroll to the top upon closing the image. In other words, if I double-click a picture in the middle of the Browser, view it, and then double-click again to return to the Browser, the thumbnail I just viewed is displayed at the top of the screen (the list scrolls automatically instead of returning to the previous list position). This is frustrating when comparing similar images, because I have to scroll back up to see the related thumbnails. I guess I just don't feel that the Browser interface should revert to a different view unless I asked it to do so.
Scouring the Internet and these forums, I only came across one post that described this issue. It was apparently unresolved. The thread can be viewed here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2714848
Is there a way to change this behavior in Aperture, or is it something I'm going to have to live with?

Haha, that's OK, CalxOddity. It took me a while to notice the behavior to begin with, as not all of my projects have enough pictures to produce a scrollbar.
Léonie, I think the random effect you're seeing may depend on the size of the album or project you're viewing. The selected image needs to be "deep enough" in the list to revert to the top row, or else the scrollbar bottoms out. Kinda the same thing when dealing with projects that are small enough to not require scrollbars.
I suppose this is something I'll learn to live with, since it appears that everyone else is observing the same behavior. See, I'm coming from using Photoshop and Finder individually to manage my photos, and I do an awful lot of comparison viewing. Icon view in the Finder, along with Quick Look, made this job really easy. Quick Look in Aperture would be awesome...

Bridge CS6 How to turn off auto tone adjustment for the loupe?

Adobe Bridge CS6. 'Apply auto tone adjustments' is unchecked in Camera Raw Preferences. Yet every time I click on an image in the preview panel it does a tonal adjustment before it magnifies the image detail. I am viewing bracketed images and do not want any auto tone applied at any time while previewing images. How can I turn off all auto tone adjustment for the program - including the loupe. I never had this issue in a previous version. I'm on PC. Thanks for any help!

All 4 Default Image Settings are unchecked. Checking this further I have found this is only a visual issue in Bridge Preview. I have opened the same raw file before any adjustment had taken place (w/o using the loupe magnifier) in PS CS6 - and then again opened it after using the magnifier which did an auto contrast adjust on the image. Both files are the same in PS CS6. This is only a visual issue within Bridge (Master Collection CS6) on my Win7 64 bit machine. No issue with a standalone PS CS6 version on my XP 64 bit system.
There is no auto adjustment of the image until I use the loupe (magnifier tool).

I have a feeling this is a bug. I have a Photography help group on fb and posed this question to them. I had mostly no issue responses but got this from another person. I checked after reading this and it is the same issue with me - this only happens with raw files, not jpeg. Here is his comment line.
Carl, I see what you mean, I have tried several adjustments to the preferences and none seem to work. The image automatically adjusts after a brief time. There does not seem to be any way to turn off the adjustment. I'm using Bridge CS 6 on a Mac. I don't think it has anything to do with camera calibration, but it only happens when using RAW files. I tried it on JPGs and TIFFs and it did not adjust the loupe image. Wonder what Adobe has to say
So - tThanks for any thoughts! So at least it's not going to be an editing issue - but it's a pain here. I use Bridge to edit my shoots and I often shoot bracketed images. While I cull images according to the histogram, I also do visual assessment and I can't have Bridge doing it's own thing on tonal adjustment.

As far as I know the time display is built into the lockscreen although it could be alternative lockscreen allow you to modify how it shows.
To turn off voice;
Settings > ease of access> Narrator > OFF
Although I am not a 100% sure on this..

I've been searching, and the only solutions I've seen are people posting application specific workarounds. Seems like there should be a way to turn it off completely.

Control-click doesn't emulate a right click. It's the other way around. a right click emulates a control-click. It's a chicken-and-egg kind of thing. The control-click came first.
Control-click has been the standard way to bring up contextual menus for at least a decade on Mac OS and OS X. It predates the prevalence of the two-button mouse. I don't think there's a way to turn it off.

Turning off CMD + SCROLL zooming with Apple Magic Mouse?

Scrolling with Apple's Magic Mouse is extremely sensitive in Fireworks, so sometimes when I use a keyboard shortcut that involves the command key and I accidentally leave it pressed for just a split second after I perform the shortcut and I scroll at the same time, Fireworks will recognize the held-down key as wanting to "scroll'n zoom" and will quickly zoom in way too far/far out, sometimes causing the program to hang for freeze. Has anyone else experienced this and would be able to explain it better? It happens way too much for me. :/

Same probem is here, suddenly pointer stopped to be active and no tracking at all. All buttons, gestures etc are performing well.
- paired / unpaired > no result
- replaced batteries > no result
- cleaned contacts inside mouse > no result
- cleaned laser > no result
Light is blinking only a few after mouse is connected, and completely stops to blink, while mouse buttons are working.
Tried to find solution on web, does not help much.

I think you have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

Not sure what you are wanting to do, but if you do not want to be signed into iCloud on your device, you would do that by deleting the iCloud account that is signed in on that device: Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and press the delete button. Type in the Apple ID/iCloud password, and then answer each prompt until it is complete.
This is done directly on the device. There is no way to "turn off" iCloud on your device via a computer, unless you wipe the device and remove it from your iCloud account under the Find My iPhone app, but that requires that you wipe the device before you can remove it:

Just disable it -
Task manager > Startup > Click "Yoga Picks" > Click "disable"
Next time you start your computer no more annoying pop ups. If you want to be annoyed again you can always re-enable it.

I've got an old MacPro that is running Mavericks but is having an issue where the finder constantly crashes and restarts. I think it may have to do with a an old server (an external Mac mini) that would mount when the MacPro booted up because I now get an error message telling me that the Mac Pro can no longer find that server (which makes sense as it is no longer there). If I leave the error window open and don't click 'ok', the Finder remains intact and the crash loop does not begin. If I click 'ok' in the server connection error window, the problems begin.
…So, where do I "turn off" this auto mounting of the old mac mini on boot? I've looked in my Login items in the system prefs and no such task is there, and I can no longer recall how i even set up this automount function.

Repair Disk.
Choose Apple menu > Restart. Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts.
When you see a white screen with an Apple logo in the middle, you can release the keys.
Click Disk Utility, and then click Continue.
In the list at the left, select the item you want to repair.Macintosh HD.
Click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
If Disk Utility reports that the disk appears to be OK or has been repaired, you’re done.
Click Restart.
