How to turn off email bell tones

How do you get rid of the bell tone when new mail comes in? I have to put my ipad at the opposite end of the house so it doesn't wake me at night.

Turn off push notifications in your settings or use the switch on the side of the iPad to turn off system sounds
Go to settings>general>use side switch to > mute.

  • How to turn off email auto forward?

I have a 3G iphone and it's set up to retrieve email from my gmail account. I don't know how, but it has started trying to auto-forward my email to another account (my work blackberry). The emails don't go through so I keep getting a failure to send message for each email I have been receiving. I looked in settings and I don't see anything set up to forward email, I'm not sure how it started in the first place. How can I turn off the auto-forwarding?

The forwarding would not be on your iPhone but on your GMail account. Using a browser, go into your Gmail settings and look at one of the top tabs that says "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" Turn off forwarding there.

  • How to turn off all "bells" in mavericks

    Hi..
I want mavericks to act like snow leopard. I have 7 macs in my house and my favorite one is my studio computer running snow leopard.
Last night i had to restart my MBP to get it to connect to the network...
Since snow leopard apple has added nothing but pure bloat to the OS and I want to get rid of all of it.
I don't want my computer connecting to facebook with me doing it, I don't wnat it checking my twitter, I don't want it updating my calendar for me (which it feels it needs to do every 60 seconds). I don't want my computer doing all the background crap that it does. I just want it to do the things I tell it to do.
Does anyone know of any tutuorials out there to remove all of the "automated" bells and whistles that came after SL?
    Thanks so much!!
    J

Reinstall the backup of your Snow Leopard System you made before you installed Mavericks.Obviously Mavericks does not meet your requirements, but you cannot just hack away at an OSX because it will become less and less stable. You can try turning off all notifications and whatever else you refer to as cr*p, but you just can't trash anything in the OSX because it doesn't suit you. You chose to download and install it, you can also choose to go back to Snow Leopard with your backup.
    14. How do I restore my entire system?

  • How to turn off email and web site links?

I'm making my own letterhead template for my massage business.
I want to turn off the automatic linking to my email address and web site which are both included on my letterhead. It's just annoying that every time I accidentally click on either of those I'm taken to my web site or my computer is trying to email me!
I only snail mail my letterhead and have no use for the linking. I can change the type format so it looks like the rest of the letterhead, but I can't turn off the linking.
    Paul

There is an option under Preferences > Auto-Correction to "Automatically detect email and web addresses." You want that one unchecked. There is also a link inspector, second from the right, with options to enable hyperlinks or make all hyperlinks inactive. Seems contradictory to me & I've found that if a document already has some linked text, changing these preferences doesn't change the existing links. And, if you paste in something with a link the link will still be active.

  • How to turn off email auto download?

    Hi All,
I'm running Tiger (10.4) on one hard drive and I'm running Leopard (10.5) on another - working on familiarizing myself and looking for problems. 10.4 uses Mail.app 2.1.3 while 10.5 uses Mail.app 3.5.
With Mail 3.5 - I've been unable to find a way to switch from auto-downloading of emails in favor of "Manual." This "feature" of auto-dowloading emails has always bugged me (a lot). So I use "Manual" downloading with v. 2.1.3. and want the same "sanity" with 3.5.
Secondary problems: I notice that 3.5 cannot verify the certificate of my ISP Pop server and keeps warning me "this may be a fake certificate" and gives me options to "stop" or "connect." Geez, there's no doubt about the SAME certificate when using Mail.app 2.1.3.
Also, it appears that Mail 3.5 is taking "forever" to send (upload) image attachments. I haven't had a chance to really track this down, but it seems like Mail may be converting every .jpg file to .png - which increases file size. I watched the Activity window and saw upload speeds of from 0 to 2.7 kbs - but suddenly the indicator bar jumps ehead and the mail is sent.
Any have any idea how to stop auto-downloading of emails with Mail.app 3.5?
Any further help with those secondary problems will also be appreciated.
    TX in advance.

Thanks Klaus1 - it's interesting to see that Apple designers still have not caught on to the idea that "icons" for important things need to be distinguishable from one another.
That is, the icon for the overall preferences panel (in 10.4) looks a whole lot like the icon used for Mail 3.5 prefs (in 10.5) and it's located in the same spot as overall prefs on Mail 2.1.5. So I naturally thought the icon on 3.5 was for "overall prefs" and ignored it. Thanks Apple, for letting your employees take so many naps during their work shifts.
You get a "helpful" for your post. Now if I can get responses on the slow upload (on DSL) by Mail.app and figure out why it doesn't recognize my (national based) ISP's certificate, I'll be a happy camper.

  • E65: can u turn off start up tone

Hi i was wondering if ne1 knew how to turn off the statup tone u get when turning the phone on, i was able to do this for my old nokia 7510i and thought u should be able to do the same with the E65 ne help wud be appreciated.

    Thank u rmop.
I just got my E95-1 phone and I'm not sure I'm gonna like as much as all my other Nokia phones I've had every year for the past God knows how many years. But I got it because of the 5mp camera.
But on all my previous phones thare has always been a "startup tone on/off" option. I was seriously thinkin of changing the phone because the bl**dy music was driving me (& everyone else around me) MAD everytime I turnd it on!
I put the warning tone to "off" and .... it worked.
Thank you. Why don't they say that in the manual or hav it as an option? Ia there ANYONE who actually wants that noise when they secretly turn their phone on? (I had a DREADFUL motorola once and that playd a tune when u turned it off too! REALLY annoying in the cinema or theatre... got rid of it withiin a couple of days!)

  • How do I turn off email alerts in iOS 7?

How do I turn off email alerts in iOS 7? I've been to Notifications, Mail/Contacts/Calendars & Sounds. Turned everything off but the kitchen sink...powered down and back up...persistent email sound goes off everytime mail arrives (junk or good). Thanks. Started happening after upgrading my wife's iPhone 5.  I had no problems with upgrade on my own iPhone 5 (imagine that LOL).

further clarified, yes I move Mail App to DO NOT INCLUDE and the mail icon now appears in that list. Mail is set to Vibrate Only...thanks for trying

  • Bridge CS6 How to turn off auto tone adjustment for the loupe?

Adobe Bridge CS6. 'Apply auto tone adjustments' is unchecked in Camera Raw Preferences. Yet every time I click on an image in the preview panel it does a tonal adjustment before it magnifies the image detail. I am viewing bracketed images and do not want any auto tone applied at any time while previewing images. How can I turn off all auto tone adjustment for the program - including the loupe. I never had this issue in a previous version. I'm on PC. Thanks for any help!

All 4 Default Image Settings are unchecked. Checking this further I have found this is only a visual issue in Bridge Preview. I have opened the same raw file before any adjustment had taken place (w/o using the loupe magnifier) in PS CS6 - and then again opened it after using the magnifier which did an auto contrast adjust on the image. Both files are the same in PS CS6. This is only a visual issue within Bridge (Master Collection CS6) on my Win7 64 bit machine. No issue with a standalone PS CS6 version on my XP 64 bit system.
There is no auto adjustment of the image until I use the loupe (magnifier tool).
Note my previous comment as to what happens when I use it. Thanks!
I have a feeling this is a bug. I have a Photography help group on fb and posed this question to them. I had mostly no issue responses but got this from another person. I checked after reading this and it is the same issue with me - this only happens with raw files, not jpeg. Here is his comment line.
Carl, I see what you mean, I have tried several adjustments to the preferences and none seem to work. The image automatically adjusts after a brief time. There does not seem to be any way to turn off the adjustment. I'm using Bridge CS 6 on a Mac. I don't think it has anything to do with camera calibration, but it only happens when using RAW files. I tried it on JPGs and TIFFs and it did not adjust the loupe image. Wonder what Adobe has to say
So - tThanks for any thoughts! So at least it's not going to be an editing issue - but it's a pain here. I use Bridge to edit my shoots and I often shoot bracketed images. While I cull images according to the histogram, I also do visual assessment and I can't have Bridge doing it's own thing on tonal adjustment.

  • Safari and webmail email alerts - how to turn off?

One of the webmails I use has annoying feature - it alerts me with every incoming email. Safari icon starts to jump at the Dock and a small window appears telling me that I have email!
I have searched my webmail settings but there is no way to turn it off. So there should be one at the Safari or Mac settings but I did not find anything there either! I have turned off pop-ups but apparently this small "thing" that appears is not considered a pop-up.
Can anyone help me how to turn off this distraction?
    Sasha
P.S. My Mac is iMac Intel and Safari is 2.0.4

  • How can I turn off the dial tone on my iPhone5?

I want to turn off the dial tone of my iPhone 5. How does this work?

    Hi,
You may not have a wireless network adapter.
If it is not in Network Adapters and you have no Device Manager errors or disabled devices under Network Adapters then that would be the case.
