How to turn off Face Tracking

I tried to turn off the face tracking under Face Tracking Options (there are three options, off, continous and smart). I clicked "off" each time, but it did work. The setting automatically returns to either "continous" or "smart". Can anyone help?

There appears to be a bug in the software that won't let you turn it off. It will only allow you to switch to continous or smart. So, I did some poking around and to turn it off you'll need to edit your registry*
Open Regedit and navigate to the following key.
I've only done this on one PC so the VF0070 name may be different.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creative Tech\Web Cameras\VF0070
In this folder you will find a key named: FaceTrackingMode
0 = off
1 = Continous
2 = smart
You will need to stop and restart WebCam Center in order for the change to take effect.
*I nor Creative Labs is responsible if you do any damage to or in any way screw up your computer. If you are not comfortable with editing the registry then don't do it.

  • Can't turn off face tracking on Live! Ultra for Notebooks

Please help! I've installed Live! Ultra for Notebooks and it works reasonably well, except for the fact that I can't turn off the Face Tracking feature.
When I installed everything, I selected "Smart", but I hate the way that the camera keeps panning off to different parts of the room. So, I just want to turn this feature OFF.
But every time I open the Face Tracking Utility, or go to the screen via "Tools," I can click "off". But, it doesn't actually turn off; the camera still keeps panning off to the far corners of the room. And the next time I access the Face Tracking Utility again, it has defaulted back to "Smart". Any suggestions on how to disable this feature?
    My system is as follows:
    Dell Inspiron 700M
Intel Pentium M 2.00 GHz processor
Windows XP Home Edition, service pack 2
Happy new year & thanks in advance..

Finally figured it out. In case anyone else has the same problem of your computer ignoring changes in the Face Tracking Utility screen, try this:
Go to Webcam Center. Click on "Capture" then the "Source" tab, one of two discrete grey tabs just above the video screen.
Under "Extended Settings" you have the options for face tracking: off, continuous or smart. Click it and your computer should actually hold onto this setting until you change it again!
    Good luck.

  • How to turn off face tagging? N9 1.2

Hi, I updated to 1.2 and the device feels a bit sluggish. Like a soft lag over the whole interface and it takes a several seconds to open a simple app like Messages, clock, gallery etc..
I read in another forum that someone had the same issue and he solved it by switching off face recognition tags(the question mark in photos on the peoples face).
I cant find that option anywhere. Not in Gallery, not in camera menus, and I cant find it in Settings.
Does anybody knows where is it?
When booting first time after the update the phone asks if you want to use the feature, and I clicked yes and now I cant turn it off.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

  • How do I turn off faces recognition in iphoto

how do I turn off faces recognition in iphoto?  I mean forever!!

So by deleting the "Face Profile" or whatever it's called for the individual Faces keeps searching for, you think that's not a solution?
The actual pictures identified by faces are not deleted. Only the avatar and name you list to be looked for within faces is what you're removing.
Do you have a better solution? I'm all ears.

  • How do you turn OFF faces in Iphoto?

How do you turn OFF faces in Iphoto? I hate it.

When I collapse it the face boxes go away, but next thing I know it's expanded again.
    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • How can i turn off faces

i can't turn off faces in iphoto although i had previously, with the new update i guess it cancelled it and now iphoto is trying to identify 12000 faces.. anyone  have instructions?

What ever - we are users just like you - creepy, not creppy, paranoid, not paranoid - we can not change anything - we just help people use it the way it is - that is all this forum is for - users helping other users
    LN
BTW I guess you have no idea how faces works - it does not identify people (yet) it identifies faces and you go in and assign people to the face - if you ignore it then all that Big Brother can see when they scan your computer every night is that you have photos that include people - which of course they already knew because everyone takes pictures of people

  • How can I turn off location tracking by Apple?

How can I turn off location tracking by Apple? Is is possible to roll the software back prior to Apple installing location tracking? I am very unhappy with this change by Apple. I know they probably included a reference to it in one of the user agreements, but this should have been clearly stated and offered a way to opt out. Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.

Yeah, I do see your point. I personally feel perfectly safe using my iPhone wherever I go however I would consider that my usage is a lot less than the average user. I've had the phone for a year and have only made a total of 5 hours worth of calls and have only taken it out of my city one or twice. So for me I don't see any privacy concerns.
From reading the privacy statement though it seems that Apple are adamant that the collection of the geographical data etc is 99% personal information free. They use the term "non-personal information" and for that 1% where someone's personal information does somehow become mingled with their geographical location/movements etc Apple state that this information would be handled as though it was your credit card details or your social security number etc until such time as it's no longer combined.
"If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined."
But, I do agree with the fact that Apple really should have made us more aware of this. Instead we have found out through scientists and their research... that, coupled with the fact that no other smartphone collects this information hasn't helped either.
I will continue to use my iPhone as normal though... I am personally confident in Apple's commitment to privacy. I know not all share this view and that's fine. We all have our own perceptions of the implications of technology...
To answer your question about rolling back your software though that can be done. Might be a bit of a headache though and I'm not the best person to help with that. I'm sure there's some good information here though. Good luck!

  • How to turn off frame edge highlighting in CS5?

Has anyone discovered how to turn off the frame edge highlighting on rollovers. I find this feature visually distracting and quite annoying as I'm moving around a page. Send advice, please. Thx.

    Chief:
Sorry we got off track and didn't post the main workaround for Frame Edge Highlighting: Keep your hand on the spacebar.
This comes from  Mike Rankin in the InDesign Magazine Tip of the Week in January:
TIP: Spring-Loaded Tools to the Rescue
InDesign  tries very hard to help you align objects when you drag by snapping  them Do you dislike the Frame Edge Highlighting that appears when you  mouse over frames in CS5? Spring-loaded tools can help. Frame edge  highlighting only appears when you use one of the selection tools. With  spring-loaded tools, you can press and hold single keys to temporarily  switch to any other tool. As long as you hold the key for more than a  second, you'll switch back to your previous tool when you release the  key. You have plenty of choices (t, \, p, f, m, n, c, e, g, z, etc).
Holding  the spacebar also prevents the highlighting from appearing, and it's a  nice big place for your fingers to rest. Heck, you don't even have to  pay much attention to where you press--just rest your hand in the middle  of the keyboard and lift it up when you want to select something. But  don't hold v or a, which are the shortcuts for the selection tools.
    - Mike Rankin
(Mike had suggests this several times in the past year,  though not with the spacebar. E.g. he recommended 'H' back in June over  on
    InDesignSecrets. "H" for Hate).
There have been several threads on this, including the locked 201-post monster, Frame edge highlighting, and the feature request Allow Frame Edge Highlighting to be turned off, and frame edge highlights on hover.
Basically  the takeaway is that it only happens with the selection (V) and direct  selection (A) tools, and that multiple people have asked Adobe for a  control to turn it off, and they've finally added one, but only in CS5.5, not in a CS5 maintenance release.

  • How to turn off Flex Time

Hi I am just wondering how to turn off flex time as it gets in the way.

There's a little button on the left by the word "Audio Region"
If the EVIL FLEX TIME is on, that little icon next to "Audio Region" will be twisted like a bow-tie indicating that the EVIL FLEX TIME has been activated.
To move audio you have to select the top bar of the clip in this lower audio region (you can see the name of the track or the time code of the track). You can drag-highlight-delete audio from under the "0" line, but not move it. You can also clumsily-and-not-at-all-precisely move audio in the upper tracks (as opposed to the Audio Region window) by dragging them. That won't engage EVIL FLEX TIME at all.
    Hope that helps.
    :S
I know... it all stinks and now it looks like the latest Garageband update messes it all up even more!
    OY!

  • Does the turn-off website tracking work at all, considering it's voluntary and websites have an incentive to ignore it?

Practically speaking, does the turn-off website tracking feature of Firefox have any value, considering it's voluntary and the websites generally have an incentive to ignore it?

Have latest version of iTunes installed and running. Also make sure you have internet access working and can access Apple websites. Also, make sure you don't have any entries in your hosts file referring to gs.apple.com....If your not sure about how to do that, go ahead and do the rest first. You can come back to that later.....Plug in phone. Put phone in DFU mode.(google put iphone in DFU mode for instructions) Then restore the phone in iTunes by highliting your device in the left column and click on the Restore button. The latest iOS version is 4.3.3. That's what iTunes will restore it to. When it's done restoring, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a backup or setup as a new phone. I would use the Setup as a New Phone option. Once it's done, you should have a clean install of the iOS and an operating phone, as long as there are no hardware issues with it.

  • Turning off Faces and Places in Aperture

I have the trial version of Aperture 3.0. I've looked everywhere in the program but cannot find how to turn off the faces and places feature.

You can turn off faces in Aperture preferences' General pane. If you don't click on the Places button (upper right of the main window), then I don't believe the application does anything with Places.

  • Turned off Faces and all map options disappeared

I was working on a brand new Aperture 3 Large size "Stock Book". I had about 300 pictures arranged on about 70 pages. I don't need/use the Faces option so, at one point today, I turned it off in the Aperture preferences. This caused my book to loose all of my picture placements and it's now blank, I believe, because the first page was a map. Now none of the map options appear in the page layout options and it's grayed-out in the Edit Layout option to add a map box. I've turned the Faces option back on, but there are still no options to add maps to my book nor any new book. Anyone know how to get the map options back in the books? Places is working fine for re-assigning all my manual locations since Aperture 3 is ignoring all my previously manually place-tagged iPhoto pictures when I import them.
    -Doug

I've switched between every size and format and no map options appear in any of them (for any user). The map disappeared out of the first book I was working on without changing the size or style after turning off Faces. Disabling Faces was the only thing I changed. All I'm doing with Aperture is creating this one book (so far). On my iMac at work (where I was testing Aperture 3 Trial before installing the purchased copy on my MacBook) I can select a "Large" size "Photo Essay" style book and the maps are available as options on prepared layouts and I can add a map. On my MacBook the maps do not appear.
