How to turn OFF Smart Address feature in Mail in iOS?

You seem to have found the right setting. From my notes:
Add the following line to $ORACLE_HOME/search/webapp/config/search.properties and then restart oc4j:
ses.qapp.similar_doc_handling=disabled
Maybe you didn't restart oc4j (using "searchctl restart")?

How do I get Mail to stop changing addresses I type into emails I want to send?

One solution is to take a screen shot of the photo. That should make it last in line.
Another solution. Make a new album. Transfer the photos to the new album. Then change the photo order, by tapping select, hold your finger on the photo, move it, tap done.

  • How to Turn off Smart Quotes

I am unable to turn off “smart quotes” (for the purpose of entering computer code). I have unchecked the box in System Preferences > Language > Keyboard, and in Safari and Mail under the Edit Menu > Substitutions (also in Word and TextEdit), but the smart or ”curly quotes“ continue to appear in each application. Is there any way to fix this in Mavericks? I am running OS X 10.9.3

TL;DR: AFAIK, nobody tries to use Microsoft Word for programming in Python, or programming in general, and TextEdit is dicy here at best.

That's my problem: no matter how I set the preferences in the applications, the smart quotes won't go away.
There is clearly an issue with smart quotes in your configuration.  The global smart quotes setting is not being honored, nor is any local setting that might exist.
Which particular application are you using to edit your Python code when this problem arises?
(As with programming in general, details matter here.)
Did the tools you are using also get restarted after the global settings were changed?
Why ask this stuff?  This information will allow folks to see if there's something else going on within that particular application, and it's also because there are text tools around that just won't create text files that the Python interpreter can process — whatever you're using here is probably closer to creating a plain-text file than some, as you're noticing the smart quotes here, though.  Of what you've mentioned so far, Microsoft Word is not known for its ability to create ASCII or UTF-8 text files, and TextEdit is dicy here at best as that tool is quite fond of using RTF formats.
But if it's Word or TextEdit you're using?  That won't work at all well.   TextWrangler (free) is a common choice for folks that prefer a GUI editor, or MacVim (free) or whatever emacs is current (also free) or other such if you'd prefer a more advanced editor.  (Note: vim and emacs are much more cryptic, and much more powerful editors.)  Or use the included nano editor (has an on-screen list of commands), or the integrated vim or emacs editors at the command line.   There are also Python IDE packages around, as well.  (Xcode doesn't support Python, though there are reports of some success with it.)  These tools all work, and these tools all produce the sorts of sequential text files that the compilers and interpreters can process.   In some cases, these tools also provide syntax highlighting and other features, which can be very useful when coding, too.

  • How to turn off double tap feature?

I have a new iPod touch and the double tap feature is annoying. Does anyone know how to turn it off?

I think you have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

  • How to turn off smart mail account selection?

How do you turn off the extremely annoying smart mail account selection?

On the iCloud website, set up three Rules (click the cogwheel icon at top right and choose Rules) to move all messages addressed to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] to the Trash. It will be deleted from there after 30 days.
You can't set up an automatic bounce, but in any case please, never bounce spam. Most spam has forged 'From' addresses so all you are doing is sending yet more spam to totally innocent people (who are probably already getting a lot of bounces because of this) and making a bad situation worse. Even if the 'From' address is genuine, I very much doubt any spammer is going to remove your address from a huge list  (they certainly would get a lot of bounces from actually dead addresses) - and in any case they can probably tell it's not a genuine bounce easily enough, so now you've just confirmed that your address works. Don't bounce it - just delete and forget.

  • How to turn off vibrate for alarm on iphone 5 ios 6?

with the release of the iphone 5, apple changed the dock connection...so i can no longer use it with my ihome alarm clock without an adapter.
since apple has not yet made available the adapter, i've been using alarm in the clock app to wake-up.
i love that i can set the alarm to a song...but i do not like that it vibrates when the alarm goes.
how do i turn off the vibration for the alarm on my iphone 5 running ios 6?
    thanks.

Thanks. Seems like this cropped up after the iOS 6 upgrade. Too bad Apple doesn't quality control their software before release. Something like alarm sounds is a pretty big oversight, kind of like maps. Your solution is right on the money even if it is a very roundabout way of getting to the desired result. A simple software fix would be to offer  a sounds/vibrate option for ringtones, reminders, and alarms at the "settings" level. Other than oversight, I cant think of an ulterior motive for having it buried in ringtones.  Thanks again for the fix!

  • How to turn off voice control with iPhone 5s with iOS 8

I Dropped my phone in the tub, I have an otterbox on it but it didn't do the phone any good :/. I dried it off and the home button started acting up. And now it doesnt work when i hit it. But the Touch ID still works. However randomly voice control will pop up and call random people when i don't even touch it. I tried going into restrictions > Siri and turning it off I turned off voice

Otterbox cases are not waterproof and are not advertised to be so. For that, you need a Lifeproof case or similar.
If you turn off Siri, Voice Control is enabled. The only way to turn off Voice Control is to turn Siri back on. Your phone has been damaged by immersion in liquid and may never work properly again. Sorry.

  • How to turn off cellular data for exchange mail iphone 4 running on ios 7.1.1

    Hello,
I am new to using iphone 4. I am able to turn off cellular data for most of my apps. But unable to find an option to turn off celullar data for exchange emails.
    Is this possible? please help.
For now I am using the fetch method instead of push.

What's not there on the 4S is the ability to specifically disable 3G data. You can disable all cellular data. Turning off 3G did NOT turn off cellular data. It just shut off 3G. You would still be connected to the EDGE data network if present.

  • How to turn off Smart Control compressor in GB10

Does anyone know how to completely defeat the smart control compressor in GB10? The EQ panel has an on/off property in the inspector, but the compressor always seems to be enabled. I need to share out a lead vocal track with compression or effects so that I can take it to another studio for treatment and processing. Thanks.

Edgar, thanks very much for all the info.
It turns out my issue is related to importing an older GB project into GB10. Existing tracks have truncated compressor controls (with no on/off switch). I suppose Apple has a good reason for doing that, but right off the top of my head, I cannot think of one.
Anyway, the ultimate solution was to create a new blank wave track and drag the old regions into it. Easy peasy, but only because it was a vocal wave region that didn't involve amp sims. Fixing things is much more labor intensive for my guitar tracks, so much so that it's probably easier to just rerecord those parts with entirely new strip settings. I've found the new and old Fender-ish amp sims to be so utterly differnt that the old tracks sound like doo doo if I just switch sims. Gain, level, sonic characteristic, everything is vastly different. But if I use the old amp sims, the Smart Controls are anything but "smart."

  • How to turn off Smart Mix audio

    Friends,
Very new to video processing. My main use is in syncing audio from computer to replace the camera mic.
Elements seems to randomly turn on the Smart Mix and tries to adjust volumes. Tracks don't stay muted when the mixer window is minimized. I've been able to sync then delete the camera audio but the added file is constantly being adjusted.
    Thanks for advice,
    John

    Steve,
    Thanks for your reply.
I’m thinking this must be some corruption in the install and will try a clean start. I had searched Google and the forums, online manuals and tutorials before asking for advice. No one else seems to have this specific problem with Smart Mix.
I took a movie  ( *.mov  1080 and 30 fps) with  a Cannon SX210 Power Shot.  Recorded some music onto the computer while taking the movie. Computer file was saved to a 192 kbs mp3 and loaded onto the sound track. These were sync’d together and then the attempt to mute the camera track.
Sync works extremely well but also noticed if the camera audio is deleted (which I tried as an alternative to disabling Smart Mix), the mp3 is thrown several frames out of sync requiring a visual/audio readjustment. Hope this quirk is also specific to my install.
The problem with Smart Mix feels buggy or too fragile.
The auto adjustments start with random factors. Once while nudging the mp3 track. Another time when changing from the timeline to the sceneline view. As long as the audio mixer window is up, 90% of the time the settings will stay, but once closed, the automation starts. Muting the camera audio doesn’t hold if the window is closed since closing the audio mixer unchecks the mute and the automation begins again. I’ve tried opening the Smarx Mix window and disabling all the tracks but this doesn’t override the problem.
Will try the clean install and see if this does anything.  Looks like the problem doesn’t exist outside of my setup or at least not widely reported.  Again, appreciate your help.
    John

  • Turning off Smart quotes?

Does anyone know how to turn off smart quotes in RHX5? I've
posted other questions related to the issue I'm having currently
with double quotes and the copyright sign showing up as ? in the
help files once they been included in a build. No one in my company
seems to know the right solution, so now I'm seeing if I can just
    turn off the smart quotes.

    Hi Paul,
I think Peter's method is indeed the way to go. For future
