Can it be done. I know in earlier version it was under preferences, general. Don't see it in CC.

Click any tab except the Create tab (don't ask me why).
Scroll to the bottom.
Check "Don't Show..." option.
To get back to the Welcome Screen, click Help > Welcome...

Turning off the iPad screen when synchronizing with the iTunes

Quick question: How do I turn off the iPad screen when synchronizing with the iTunes. Is this even possible? Are there settings I am overlooking? Or perhaps a third-party app which can make it happen?
I have a large library and often leave my iPad connected to iTunes for several hours at a stretch. The bright glowing screen can be a big distraction, and, more importantly I am very worried about pixel burn-in.

The iPad LED Backlit IPS Screen is not phosphor-based, so there is no permanent phosphor burn-in problem. You might see some image persistence, but that is not permanent and can be corrected. See this support article about image persistence: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2807
Since you have already converted your music to 128 kbps, you are unlikely to see any more 10+ hour syncs unless you have to do a restore. In that event, you could select the brightness control in settings to the lowest level.
FYI, there are some apps, such as Night stand HD that are designed to be used for long periods with unvarying displays and I have yet to see image persistence problems reported. However, since the iPad is still a new product, there may be some reports in the future.

Is it possible to turn off the Welcome Screen in PSE8?

Just what the world needs, another splash screen which won't go away I can turn it off in PSE5 but I can't see how to do it in 8. Has anyone cracked this?

Thanks Barbara (I've got your book!). I did try that but it didn't work. I've looked further and found PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe and that's the one, that does the trick. But I really think that Adobe should be a bit more grown up about this and I should not have to resort to such back door tactics.
I'm afraid that PSE8 is rather grating on me so far. It seems to be like an over eager puppy jumping up trying to be "helpful" all of the time (and we all know what happened to M'Soft Office Clippy and his doggy pal!). I'm on day one of the 30 day trial so I'll persevere, but so far Adobe have not made the case for a sale. I'd like to be treated as an adult.

I would like to remove the annoying warning messages whenever we re-compile a jsp file using embedded OC4J.
Steps:
1. create an web project
2. create a test jsp file (say, test.jsp)
3. run the jsp file.
4. on the jsp visual editor, modify the jsp file.
5. go to the browser, reload the page. the following warning messages are displayed:

I'm so much glad to see JDeveloper giving out all the details and warnings, but sometimes they spit out too much warning messages that simply annoys and distracts my programming.
There seems to be no parameters for me to shut those up, maybe I should do it manually?

I've already tried setting up the j2ee-config.xml file, but
it seems that the warning message does not come from the oc4j, but is generated when jsp file is being compiled, so no matter what you do with the j2ee-config.xml, it would not work to remove the warnings.
I was thinking maybe I could setup the java compiler option found in server.xml, by adding -nowarn option in javac options attribute, but it seems that the file server.xml gets overwritten automatically whenever the oc4j restarts (so, no avail).
So... any other ideas?

Can I turn off the InPrivate notice when I start in InPrivate mode?

I have a shortcut that starts IE in InPrivate mode. But what comes up is the InPrivate "warning". I want it to just start in InPrivate mode and go to my homepage. Is there a setting to do that?

So you want to set your home page as the default display page in IE InPrivate Mode, right?
I launch IE in InPrivate Mode, use process monitor to capture the whole process, filter the iexplore.exe and find that the default page is related with this registry string
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs\InPrivate
So please locate to this InPrivate key and change the value data to your homepage's url, then restart your PC.

Display the Welcome screen when Photoshop CC starts up?

I have researched and found lots of incidences where people want to keep the Welcome screen from displaying but I am want it to display and it will not.
The checkbox under Edit>Preferences>General that says "Do Not Show Welcome Screen on Launch" is unchecked. I have tried checking that box saving, then unchecking saving again and restarting Photoshop. I have tried uninstalling Photoshop twice, once saving my preferences, the second time discarding my preferences and re-installing. Still no Welcome screen at launch. I have read that there is an option under Help>Welcome... to reopen the Welcome screen. I do not see that option and believe that is on the Mac only.
By the way the Welcome screen opens/works perfectly in Illustrator CC 2014.
I am running a Windows 7 PC with the latest version of Photoshop CC 2014.
Anyone have any ideas?

I believe you have an installation problem. Others have had problems with the Welcome Screen and I had a problem after the 15.2.2 update. Others were not able to Play the video tutorials from the welcome window. Photoshop seems to use CEPHtmlEngine.exe to display the Welcome screen. The CC 2014.2.2 update installed on my machine without a problem. CC 2014 worked and I had turned off the welcome screen. However I did not have the new Photoshop CC 2014 preference Do not show Welcome Screen on launch and when I tried to use menu Help>Welcome I received a popup error stating Photoshop could not start the plug-in because it was not signed. The way I was able to fix this problem was to download the direct CC 2014 installer and install CC 2014 on top of the CC 2014 currently insall. CC 2014 installed and was installed activated and after I used menu Help>Update to get CC 2014 up to CC 2014.2.2 all worked my Add-ons and preferences were still there. However if I start CC 2014 and immediately try to open the Welcome screen I will get the pop-up your getting Welcome Dialog not installed. But when I click OK and try menu Help>Welcome a second time it works. The new Preference Do not show Welcome Scree on launch is there and I can set it there or from the welcome screen option.

miniDisplay to HDMI : How to turn off the Dual Monitor output when the adapter is attached and the TV is off ? And will keeping the adapter connected even if it is not in use, cause damage to the adapter ?

I have my external monitor/tv setup of the left. If I leave the adapter attached with the TV off, I am still able to cross the border/boundry of my MBP screen ! As instead of detecting a TV, the MBP is detecting the adapter as a screen. I do not want to damage my thunderbolt/miniDisplay port by plugging and unpluggin the unit each and every time.

Airplay streaming stops when you turn off the iPad screen

Hi All,
If you are streaming something from your iPad using Airplay, and you hit the button to turn off the iPad screen, it seems that the streaming stops...
Is there any way to fix that? I mean, if you are watching a long video, for example, you don't want your iPad to remain on the whole time.

You are saying the AirPlay App does not work when the iPad goes to sleep. Other Apps do, including the Music App, so you might expect AirPlay to work as well.
Another limit may be the timer setting at Settings-General-Auto Lock. Mine is set to 5 Minutes by default. You may need to set yours to Never, to keep the iPad from sleeping while streaming.
I suggest you provide feedback to Apple at <iPad Feedback>.

Go to Settings>Messages and choose "No" under "Show Preview" which will hide the text part of the SMS/text message but still will pop up on who its from and just says "text message" on it.
