with the release of the iphone 5, apple changed the dock connection...so i can no longer use it with my ihome alarm clock without an adapter.
since apple has not yet made available the adapter, i've been using alarm in the clock app to wake-up.
i love that i can set the alarm to a song...but i do not like that it vibrates when the alarm goes.
how do i turn off the vibration for the alarm on my iphone 5 running ios 6?

Thanks. Seems like this cropped up after the iOS 6 upgrade. Too bad Apple doesn't quality control their software before release. Something like alarm sounds is a pretty big oversight, kind of like maps. Your solution is right on the money even if it is a very roundabout way of getting to the desired result. A simple software fix would be to offer a sounds/vibrate option for ringtones, reminders, and alarms at the "settings" level. Other than oversight, I cant think of an ulterior motive for having it buried in ringtones. Thanks again for the fix!

Hopefully a simple one, how to turn off categorization for case management.
I get this error in CRM 5.0 when choosing Cases.
CASE_MANAGEMENT, CASE_TYPE, Z_01
My categorization in the IC profile is set to ZDEFAULT (copy of default) but only contains
IR     Interaction Record
SO     Service Order
ST     Service Ticket
Does not have the CA case entry that is in DEFAULT.
Z_01 is my case type but I see no place to set the categorization.
I think I am missing something easy but don't see it.

I'm guessing zdefault had same description default and it was picking up the default one in error.

Turn off vibrate on alarm only

I have an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.2 and I use the alarm to wake up every morning. I prefer to wake up to sound only without any vibration. If I turn off "Vibrate on Ring" in settings the vibration for the alarm also turns off, which is great. Unfortunately if I forget to turn it back on I will almost certainly miss phone calls or other notifications and on the flip side if I forget to turn it off before bed I have a heart attack when the phone starts vibrating with the alarm . Is there a way to leave the vibration on when the phone rings but have it off for the alarm? This would avoid me have to switch it back and forth everyday.

You and I (and I believe a whole slough of people) have the same issue with this. It drives me up the freaking wall! Apple picked their fruit too early on this oversight. I have the iPhone 4S and it's the same song and dance. Everything your post says, is what I came to the interwebs for. C'mon Apple!! Address this issue that is driving people a little more insane with each and every alarm that goes off. I'm checking if the Samsung devices have this sorted out properly.

[iOS 8] How to turn off vibrate notifications on new calendar invitations?

I don't want any notification when I receive a new calendar invitation via Exchange. I had no problems disabling this in iOS 7 and earlier, but with iOS 8 I can't seem to turn off the vibrate notification. In Settings...Notifications...Calendar...Invitations, I've turned off everything there. Notification Sound is set to None, and Vibration is also set to None.
Yet whenever I receive a new calendar invitation, my phone does a short vibrate. No alert shows up on the screen, just a short vibrate.
How do I silence this thing?

Here is what finally worked for me in ios8 (8.1.2)
Settings > Notifications > Calendar > Invitations > Notification Sound > Set *both the alert tone and vibration* to None (they are separate settings.) The view from the Invitations form is a little misleading - the Notification sound will say "None" even if there is a vibration setting other than None.
Not sure when this changed but it was making me a LITTLE CRAZY.

I just found it out recently since he bought a new apple device ios 8, and all his bookmarks in safari kept on appearing on my ipad and the customer guide books that he purchased for his ios 8 appeared on my ibooks. How can i stop syncing with him ? Also i want to know if the old books i have in my ibooks and photos in my photo stream have been synced to his new ipad also? Turn off vibrations for new messages

I have my iPhone on silent almost all the time. It worked well until iMessages appeared. My issues is simple, I'm recieving and sending many of them each day (basically we switched from AIM to iMessages now that Messages for Mac were released) and simply said my phone vibrates whole day... Not very convenient while in job.
Only solution I have found is turning sound off completely, including vibrations. But I would love to turn vibrations off only for iMessages OR at least for everything but calls (vibrates only on incoming call).
Probably no way to do it, but asking!

When I sit by my Mac, I don't need iMessages on phone but when traveling, I do.
So turning them off completely is no good. Unless I would turn them off each time I sit by Mac at job?

When I had my 4s, whenever I received an imessage when the app wasn't actively open, it would vibrate to alert me of the message. When I opened the app to read my messages and I'm having a text conversation, the phone no longer vibrated for incoming texts while the app was actively open. I liked this feature as the phone wouldn't be constantly shaking for each and every line of text I receive. I now own the 5s and notice that the phone vibrates for every message, even when the app is open. How do I set the phone up so it behaves just like when I had the 4s? I don't want the phone to vibrate at all when the app is open, only when it is running in the background and I'm receiving a new, unread message.

Guys, I have exactly the same problem with my 5s. I would say it is a software glitch in all 5s firmwares. I have 7.0.6 and still the problem is there. I don't know about newest 7.1, I will eventually try install it. This really makes me crazy because when I chat and have the app open it vibrates with every new message and it is a shock for me every time Very annoyinh indeed. We should report this bug to Apple. My wife has 4s and it works perfect for her - no vibrations when app is open... So it's definitelly a bug...

IOS6 allowed you to pick an artist and then view "all songs" regardless of album. IOS7 forces me to wade thru the artist's songs sorted by ALBUM? I have to wade thru 300 Beatle tunes -- a non-alphabetized list chopped up by album! Am I missing something here?

It works doing it with one mailbox at a time, selecting it and then deselecting "View - Organize by Conversation". A real pain and clealry impractical when you have thousands of mailboxes...
It does not work at all deselecting even all items in "Mail - Preferences - Viewing - View Conversations". After that, all the imported mailboxes have the Organize Conversation active.

Yet I want to be able to use my iPhone 4 for WiFi, which is free in the hotel Is there a way to turn off the cell phone without turning off the WiFi, like Airplane mode does? Its easy on AT&T iPhones since this is a big deal for them as their phones are true world phones - but there are times when you will travel with an iPhone 4 and can get hit with huge roaming fees. For example - $0.50 per text message outgoing!!!
So - is there a way to turn it off but use the WiFi? Thanks!!

Go to your settings and make sure that you have turned off "airplane mode" and I'm not too sure what "restrictions" has to do with turrning off airplane mode because I cannot find a button on restrictions for airplane mode in "enable restrictions." If you are having problems making phone calls or turning on bluetooth or wifi, then check to see if you have turned off the services in your settings section under bluetooth and wifi and then go to go to settings to see if your cellular setting is on. Also make sure that you are not in "do not disturb" that may cause nothing to work.
