How to type a font of a faulty key

Hi all,
I have the '9' key of a MacBookPro4,1 which doesn't work anymore, it seems definitively dead, as they said at the Apple center;
since changing the whole keyboard for a single faulty key seems to me excessive and costly, I wonder if there is another way to type the fonts '9' and ')', e.g with a software that permits to change one key press with another one;
I really hope there is way to do that without using utilities like PopChar.
Any help is very much appreciated!

I have some old Adobe Postscript Type 1 fonts (Mathematical Pi and Times SC OF). For each I have the .pfb file and the corresponding .pfm file. How do I go about installing these in Lion?
I tried just adding the pair of files to ~/Library/Fonts, but I don't see the font in Font Book.

Yes, to perfectly translate a font to another format, your should have access to the metrics. In FontLab, I first open the binary data (the .pfb outlines). Then go to the menu and choose File > Import > Metrics and open the .pfm file. But even so, almost all fonts will translate imperceptibly close to the original without the metrics.
Curious: I had no difficulty selecting a font from the fontconverter.org page in Safari.
I don't have FontLab. I note that the Import function in FontForge does not seem to allow import of a .pfm; at least none of the options offered seem to match that.

How to Change the Font Type for Printing Pocket Address Book?

I am new to the Mac and was entering in my contact info into the Address Book in hope of creating a Pocket Address Book (PAB). When I attempt to print out the PAB the default font is courier. When I click on "set" and access other font types, sizes, etc., I can't seem to find a way to apply or save the font type that I choose. In short, it stays as courier. I found an archived thread in a forum that suggests to validate the font I want - which I did and it was already validated - and otherwise I cannot seem to change it from courier. Any help on how to get the font I select to be applied instead of courier would be GREATLY appreciated!

You can also change it using the UIManager:
UIManager.put("OptionPane.foreground", Color.red);
UIManager.put("OptionPane.messageForeground", Color.red);

really i need immidiate help from anybody. I have a pdf which is having font as "Type1" when I am coverting it to swf it is not searchable. I know the solution for the issue to change the font from "Type 1" to "True Type", but I didn't know how to change the Font Type.

You have to change the font in the smartform. Then convert the smartform output to PDF.

How to install Type 1 fonts into JRE?

I am trying to generate Type 1 font postscript file by java. And I have successfully installed Type 1 fonts in both Windows and Linux operation system. But when I use following Java code to display the available system fonts, there are no Type 1 fonts displayed.

You will need to download and install the ttf (true type font again) on your new machine. I am not sure if the following is the font that you are referring to, but here is one named similiarly http://www.fontpalace.com/font-details/Chisel+Thin+Normal/.

How do I make PFM and Type 1 fonts available for my document?

I am trying to work with a document in InDesign. There are some PFM and Type 1 fonts in the document that can't be found. I have them in a folder on my computer but don't know how to make them available. I downloaded Adobe Type Manager Light, but am running Windows 7 SP1 and the exe file doesn't work. I also watched a tutorial about fonts, but can't find the folder that the person was talking about in the video. Can someone help me?

Hopefully you have not damaged Windows by trying to install ATM. Windows 7 has native T1 type support built in.
To make them available in Windows, Presuming they are actually Windows format fonts, you would right-click the font and choose Install Font, or CS6 or CC you can put them in a folder named Document Fonts in the same directory as the .indd file, and they will be availble to that file alone.
Note that Mac format fonts are completley useless on Windows. They're easy to spot, though -- they'll show a file size of 0 bytes in Explorer.

In the document info panel (Windows>Document Info) from the flyout you can select font details and all the fonts in the document as well as the type of font as well and of course the fonts name. The document info can be save with all the info about the document as well as the fonts.
That info document can be opened in a number of applications such as Excel a script editor which in turn might allow you the ability to extract he font info you are looking for but the document info pretty much is scripted to grab this info in a prescribed way so it must be scriptable and so you should go to the Illustrator scripting forum to see if there is perhaps a script that already exists for this purpose.
What do you need to do with this info once you have it?
Or is the document info the thing you are actually looking for? I would think you need no more than that.

Can system font Helvetica be replaced with the PostScript Type 1 (Older) Version?

Same problem! The only solution I found is to prepare a textbox in a new file with all the font you need. Copy and past in the file you need to change font. Go to type/risolve missing font. Will open the same window in the pic you pasted. Then you find the font in the dropdown menu. I have to change all the Helvetica family ...it's a long go. If some one could save me. Hope to be usefull to your problem.
