Hi everyone, I would like to un-jailbreak my iphone but am unsure of a few things. I have an original 8gb iphone which was bought on ebay with software version 1.1.2.
1.How do i un-jailbreak my iphone
2.Will it wipe out all my photos and music
3.I beleive it is unlocked as well, by un-jailbreaking it, will it lock it back to 02 if so will i still be able to use my 02 payg sim card.
4.Will i be able to upgrade my software version and will i be able to purchase apps from the apps store still using my payg sim.

Thanks for the speedy replies.Sorry if I sound a little dim, but how do you backup the iphone as ive never done anything like this before and don't wont to break it.Also ive read in other forums that if you restore from backup you will copy over all the jailbreak software back again which I don't wont.If that is the case how can I save my contacts & photos to my PC.I have since found out that it is a UK iphone which would have been locked to 02 'contract' at the time, I am using a 02 payg sim...will it still work.I know im going on a bit but I need to make sure I do this right as im not very technically minded.All I wont is a clean iphone that i can update,buy apps but not loose any of my precious photos and contacts.

To do this you will have to do a restore using iTunes but since you are on ios 5.1 you should just update to 5.1.1 in itunes. Warning this will remove the jailbreak

So, about this time last week i decided to jailbreak my iphone 4 ios 5.01. being 15 most of my friends with iphones have it jailbroken. so after hours of youtube i found a way to do it and It was a success! i was really excited that i finally had a jailbroken iphone. However, i started to realize that it was not a big difference from before i jailbroken it. It started to run slow and glitch up. I also have read that jailbreaking you iphone voids your warranty with apple and i do not feel that its worth it. So i uninstalled every application that i have downloaded from cydia and uninstalled cydia its self. After i uninstalled cydia, i backed up my iphone and transfered all of my apps to my cpu. Then i restored my iphone and set it up from the previous backup i just made. Everything went perfectly! however i want to know if my iphone has actually been un-jailbroken being that i restored my iphone from a back up wear my phone was in a jailbroken state. and since i uninstalled cydia from my phone before i backed it up and restored it, there isnt any clear way to tell whether its still jailbroken or not. please if you understand anything i just said please help me lol. i do not want my warranty to continue being voided ! thanks!

If you restored from a backup remnants of the jailbreak will still be on the phone. You must go to settings/general/reset - Erase all content and settings, delete all iPhone firmware images from your computer, then do a Restore and set it up as a new phone. You cannot restore your backup. You must reinstall your apps, set up email accounts and other settings from scratch. You will lose all app content, such as game scores.
Even this will not remove all traces of the jailbreak; Apple will still be able to tell it was jailbroken. But for your purposes the jailbreak will be gone.
There is one exception; if you also unlocked the phone as part of the jailbreak the modem firmware will not match the iOS version, and future updates may cause problems.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Did you purchase this device from Apple or an authorized reseller? It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking.
