How to unbrick CISCO 7975

Does anybody know how to unbrick a CISCO 7975? I have tried to do the factory reset wiht no success..Help!

Hi
The phone will do the following things:
1) Request DHCP
2) If it gets option 150 succesfully (or some other options, but option 150 is the common one) it will attempt to TFTP files from the option 150 IP address
3) It will try to download term75.default.loads, which contains a list of the required firmware files (you can open that file and see them in notepad to verify you have the correct ones)
4) It will then download each of those files and install them
So - if you are confident you have DHCP and Option 150 set up, you can debug or monitor the logs on your TFTP server to see whether you can see the reuqests for files, and whether they are succesful.
If you don't have DHCP/Option 150 set up, start by setting that up.

Aaron

  • How often does Cisco release signature updates?

Hi, i would like to know how often does Cisco release updates for the Signature engine for the IPS appliances? I was not sure to make the auto update from Cisco.com to be every-day, every-hour or once a week?
Also can you advise me of the recommended setting for Bypass feature for the interfaces?

Since the auto-update checks go out the management interface it maybe better to have it set for every hour. That way you wont have delays in the critical updates. Assuming you are in inline traffic mode, setting the bypass to "auto" is the recommended setting for interfaces. That is also the default.

  • How to unbrick Iconia tab A500

On power up I get just the Acer logo. There is a post from 2013 that describes how to unbrick but the instructions don't work. It suggests going to the site that lets you download Acer drivers and manuals, viz http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers#_ga=1.181574820.267539145.1417479834.  This should give a zip file that contains 'update.zip' but it doesn't; it contains a file with a name that ends 'Driver Setup.exe' and I don't think that is what I want. The site address has 'US' in it so I looked for the corresponding UK source for drivers and manuals which is http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers and I then typed in my SNID and selected the OS Android 3.2 Honeycomb (ice cream is 'not available' and  I can always upgrade later). The zip file that results contains the two files H_A31H_A32H_A500_A501/1.inf    and
USB_Acer_1.00.0524_A30H_A31H_A32H_A500_A501/ICONIA TAB USB Driver Setup.exeand again this doesn't look right (the 1.inf file is all about Windows). I have not tried running this because it is not 'update.zip' and I'm afraid it will install Windows instead. . I need the file update.zip. Can someone please tell me where to find it? Or any other way of unbricking an Iconia A500.

Hello Ironfly. Thank you for your comment. I have tried a factory reset, if you mean that game with the volume button. If I hold down Volume-  and press power on I get the Acer logo for ever and if I hold down Volume+ I get the dead Android. You say that to get the file update.zip I should click on the OS tab  but where is this? Do you mean in the Drivers and Manuals page? I did that and selected Honeycomb 3.2 which was the OS installed on the tablet when new. I should be delighted to hear any other ideas about how to get a file update.zip and not some Windows substitute.

  • Cisco 7975 Expansion modules

    Dear,
I have some questions regarding the expansion modules on phones, specifically the 7916 ones.
If i have one with 12 physical buttons and 2 page buttons i can assume it's a 24 line button i have to set on the configuration page of the phone correct? Or am i seeing this wrong. Is there a handy way of knowing this directly?
I have a specific phone Cisco 7975 that has issues getting the 7916 addon module working, i have set a 7916 24 button on the config page of the phone. The addon module still shows the logo of Cisco and doesn't change.
The load is present on the call manager, i have seen it via "Device Defaults", shall i proceed in upgrading the 7916 firmware then on the Call Manager, maybe this can solve the problem?
    CM version: 8.6.2

Most of the times firmware phone/expansion
    Just upgrade phone and expansion.
And you select 7975 with 7916 24 buttons or 12 buttons

  • How to Configure Cisco ASA 5512 for multiple public IP interfaces

    Hi
I have a new ASA 5512 that I would like to configure for multiple public IP support.  My problem may be basic but I am an occasional router admin and don't touch this stuff enough to retain everything I have learned.
Here is my concept.    We have a very basic network setup using three different ISPs that are currently running with cheap routers for internet access.  We use these networks to open up access for Sales to demo different products that use a lot of bandwidth (why we have three)
I wanted to use the 5512 to consolidate the ISPs so we are using one router to manage the connections.  I have installed an add on license that allows multiple outside interfaces along with a number of other features.
Outside Networks (I've changed the IPs for security purposes)
    Outside1 E 0/0 : 74.55.55.210  255.255.255.240 gateway 74.55.55.222
    Outside2 E 0/2: 50.241.134.220 255.255.248 gateway 50.241.134.222
    Inside1 : E 0/1 192.168.255.1 255.255.248.0
    Inside2 : E 0/3 172.16.255.1 255.255.248.0
My goal is to have Inside 1 route all internet traffic using Outside1 and Inside 2 to use Outside2.    The problem is I can't seem to do this. I can get inside 1 to use outside 1 but Inside2 uses Outside 1 as well.
I tried adding static routes on Outside2 to have all 172.16.248.0/21 traffic use gateway 50.241.134.222 but that doesn't seem to work.
I can post my config up as needed.  I am not well versed in Cisco CLI, I've been using the ASDM 7.1 app.  My ASA 5512 is at 9.1.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions/help

I have been away for a while and am just getting caught up on some posts. so my apology for a delayed response.
I find the response very puzzling. It begins by proclaiming that to achieve the objective we must use Policy Based Routing. But then in the suggested configuration there is no PBR. What it gives us is two OSPF processes using one process for each of the public address ranges and with some strange distribute list which uses a route map. I am not clear what exactly it is that this should accomplish and do not see how it contributes to having one group of users use one specific ISP and the other group of users use the other ISP>
    To the original poster
It seems to me that you have chosen the wrong device to implement the edge function of your network. The ASA is a good firewall and it does some routing things. But fundamentally it is not a router. And to achieve what you want were a group of users will use a specified ISP and the other group of users will use the other ISP you really need a router. You want to control outbound traffic based on the source of the traffic, and that is a classic situation where PBR is the ideal solution. But the ASA does not do PBR.

  • How to Add Cisco 861's behind ASA 5505

I will be setting up a VPN with a client soon.  They are shipping 2 Cisco 861's that are planning to go behind our ASA 5505.  They are set up to be NATed.
I am trying to understand what the best way to do this would be as I seem to keep running into limitations of the ASA 5505.
Our ASA has a public IP of 2.1.2.14/30 assigned to it's outside interface.
The public IPs to be NATed to the 861's are 2.1.2.218 and 2.1.2.219/29.
    1. How can I assign this seperate public IP block to the ASA? Is it even possible?
    2. If not possible, what would other options be?
    3. Would an upgraded license that allows for additional interfaces make this easier? (I would not do the NATing then, just assign the new public IP block to another interface)
    Appreciate any help or suggestions.

    Hi,
I personally run into these situations too and more than one occasion the users start to run into different kind of problems when they got additional hardware on their LAN that we dont manage.
If you HAVE to do this as you described I would need some additional information
What software version is your ASA?
Do you have a Base License version of the ASA5505?Can confirm this with "show version" command
In the original post, do you mean that you have a small link network (/30) with the ISP and that the ISP has also provided you with a small subnet for NAT purposes (/29)
The first thing mentioned above would be needed to confirm what NAT format to use.
Otherwise if the following 2 are true then there should be no problem using the additional IP address range on your ASA5505 firewall.
There are 2 ways to go.
    Option 1.
Make sure that the ISP has routed the additional /29 network towards your ASA5505 "outside" IP address
Now just configure the needed NAT configurations (can naturally help with the configurations when I know the software level of the ASA)Notice that the additional public subnet doesnt need to be configured on any interface of the ASA. You can just configure NATs using those IP addresses as usual. The critical thing here is that the ISP has routed the network towards your ASA and HAS NOT configured this additional /29 subnet on their gateway as a secondary network.
    Option 2.
Even if you have the ASA5505 at Base License you can still configure 3 interfaces on the ASA5505. The one thing to notice here is that you need to configure the "no forward interface Vlanx" to the third Vlan interface which will prevent this third Vlan from connecting to networks behind the interface Vlanx. This however doesnt stop Vlanx from connecting to networks behind third Vlan interface. This might provide a possibility to use the WAN side of the VPN routers on the third interface of the ASA since they you can limit their connectivity to the "inside" Vlan and this would mean they could still connect to "outside"
Hopefully I made any sense. Please ask more if I was unclear about something above (which might be possible )

  • How to configure Cisco ASA 5500 to work with the iPhone

We have Cisco ASA 5510 (latest firmware version), and apparently, according to Cisco website it is compatible with new iPhone 3G's IPSec client:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpnclient/cisco_vpnclient/iPhone/2.0/connectivity/guide/iphone.html
We've setup our first iPhone properly. It connects fine to the network, shows VPN connection as active. Gets a private IP address. But does not let any traffic go to the internal network. We thought it might be DNS problem, but it cannot connect to Exchange server even when using IP address instead of DNS. No luck either.
After checking ASA logs, we found that iPhone goes through Phase 1 authentication correctly. But then gives some kind of error, mentioning "Attribute 5".
Has anybody been successful configuring ASA5500 series (in particular 5510) to be used with iPhone?
I noticed that many people are having these problems.
Please do not post to this topic if you have ANY OTHER Cisco device.
Cisco specifies that iPhone is compatible only with Cisco ASA 5500 Security Appliances and PIX Firewalls. Neither Cisco IOS VPN routers nor the VPN 3000 Series Concentrators support the iPhone VPN capabilities.
Let's keep this topic only for users of ASA 5500 series and PIX Firewalls.
It would be extremely helpful for a large number of users if somebody posted a list of settings for ASA5500 or PIX firewall that DO work with iPhone 2.0
    Thank you!

Later it turned out that wizards by default set this setting:
    "crypto isakmp nat-traversal 20"
equal to zero and there is no way to change it from the GUI.
Only after we changed it (increased the value from 0 to 20) through the command line the connection started working perfectly.
Please let me know how it works out for you.

  • How to use Cisco ASA5510 as an IPS

    We have a Cisco ASA5510 w
ith ASA-SSM-10 module but we´d like to know how to configure it as
an IPS. We have it in the same network but in a simulate enviroment 2 different network segments.

You need the ASA to pass traffic through the IPS as explained in http://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-5668
Note that since this is a different module you will need something like
access-list ips-acl extended permi ip any any
    class-map ips-class
    match access-list ips-acl
    policy-map global_policy
    class ips-class
      ips fail-open

Then you can start configuring the ips following its config guide to fire on signatures etc.

  • How to get cisco show and share

    Hi,
I have a DMM with version 5.2 and saw that on my licesing I have show and share. But how do I install show and share? Can I install it on DMM server?Do I need to install it in another server? Where can I download it? I think the show and share installation is called SS-5.2.0.20.iso, but I do not found it on cisco support download section.

    Mario,
Show and Share(SnS) is an Appliance just like your Digital Media Manager (DMM).
You have to purchase the Appliance from Cisco or a Cisco Partner.  Then you have
to purchase use licenses for Authors etc...   The Appliance software is not separate
from the hardware and is not downloadable.
Please contact your Cisco Sales Rep or Account for further explanation and they
can assist you with your companies needs.

  • How to convert Cisco IPS signatures to a MARS events - no keyword search

I am trying to run a scheduled report looking for the new Microsoft exploit under the IPS S411 release, SIGID 19339.0 and I am trying to form the query looking for the event this falls under without using a keyword search on the SIGID. Does anyone know how to correlate an IPS signature to a MARS event?
    Thanks,
    Mike

With the help of On-box local event correlation technology you can correlate. On-box local event correlation technology not only enables detection, but actually blocks multi-event attacks and malware in real time, complementing security incident management software such as the Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting System (Cisco Security MARS) that correlate events across multiple devices.
Integrates with the Cisco Security Manager to correlate security events with the configured firewall rules and intrusion prevention system (IPS) signatures that can affect the security event
