How to uninstall 6.0.2/reinstall 6.0.1

For all those frustrated with 6.0.2 and want to reinstall 6.0.1, I found these directions under another discussion board, Apple.com> Support > Discussions > iTunes for Windows > Installing & Upgrading iTunes for Windows
This was posted by Alex123. IF you want the link, please use the following:
http:discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID+330490&start=0
Listed below are the instructions. Please note, under filehippo.com, click on iTunes 6.0.2 and on the next page that appears, you will be able to select an older version of iTunes (6.0.1 or older). Also note that Alex123 does NOT run Norton AntiVirus:
How I fixed iTunes upgrade 6.0.2

Hi, I've been having same problems as it seems many of you are. Tried uninstalling/re-installing several times to no avail! Read throught several of the threads on here and came up with the following technique which got iTunes working again on my computer:
1.Backup your music files by transferring C:My Documents/My Music/iTunes & License Backup folders to your desktop or another folder.
2.Uninstall iTunes 6.0.2 AND latest iPod updater (dated January 2006)
3. Restart computer.
4. Find an older version of iTunes (eg.6.0.1, try www.filehippo.com) and download this.
5. Install this version of iTunes
6. Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
and download & install the latest standalone quicktime player (this is different to other versions where iTunes 6.0.2 and Quicktime are bundled together.
7. Restart computer again.
8. Start iTunes... it should work! (fingers crossed!)
9. Remember to move your iTunes library back to the right folder (My music) - you may have to delete the new iTunes folder that the installation will have created that will be empty.
If you use a bit of common sense and follow my tips then you shouldn't have any problems at all, but I take no responsibility for anything bad happening! I have done it with no problems though, and this method is less severe than others I have seen (eg. messing with registry entries which I don't know enough about to try dabbling in :-))
Hope this helps, good luck!

Oh and I forgot to mention, I'm not running the Norton Antivirus software that has been causing some people trouble. If you are, you may find other posts will help more, such as the Lorraine M post that can be found in nearby topics. But if you aren't running Norton like me, this will hopefully solve your problems.

I am glad everything worked out for you. I don't think it's your PC--I think it is an iTunes issue. I have another post that begins...HELP!!! Ive tried EVERYTHING!!!...So far, over 700 people have viewed it within the last week, so you are not alone. And, my co-worker has an iPod, and refuses to update hes Dell to 6.0.2 because iTunes has had so many problems in the past with the music store. After numerous emails, this is the final one I received a few days ago:

    Hello,
I have installed mountain lion on my macbook pro ,but it made my mac very slow. Would someone please tell me how  to uninstall this one and reinstall snow leopard? I tried to do it by my original CDs but macbook  pro didn't let me to do it.
    Thanks

It would be easier to just fix whatever is making your machine slow.
I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing these problems. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

  • How to uninstall old iphoto and reinstall it in old Mac Pro (new iphoto not compatible)

I can't install the new iPhoto in my Mac Pro (2006-2007 model) but my old iPhoto is not working, won't open and I can't uninstall it and install it again.
Any ideas how to do it?
    Thanks

You probably do not need to
99.9% of the time iPhoto problems are not related to the application but to the library
However we need details - not just "it doesn't work"
What version of ihoto? Of the OS? How does it not work? What exactly happens? what recently changed since it sorked?
If you do need to reinstall you reinstall from the original source

  • How to Uninstall So I can Reinstall

Hello, I have had to uninstall Adobe Air A few times because this software Market Samurai seems to get damaged from time to time.
It has always worked in the past to go to control panel and click on uninstall a program, then click Market Samurai and uninstall, then click on Adobe Air And click uninstall and then redownload the whole thing.
This time I was able to uninstall Market Samurai but when I tried to uninstall Adobe Air, it does nothing.
The little blue spinning circle that usually comes up when the computer is working, appears for about half a second and then, nothing.
I have left the computer running for days and it won't uninstall the Adobe Air.
If I try to click on Adobe Air again and then click on uninstall, I get a message that says "please wait until the current program is finished uninstalling or being changed" but it never finishes. After I turn the computer off and go thriugh the same steps, the same thing happens again.
I have even tried to do a system restore but my competer will not go back far enough with the options it gives me.
Does someone know of another way to uninstall the program? Or something I can install to clean it up?

    Chris,
Thank you so much for that.
The first link you gave me worked. After I installed that version of AIR, I was able to reinstall the market samurai and it worked perfectly.
I was beginning to wonder if I needed to hire someone to fix this problem since the AIR support couldn't help and only referred me to the forums.
I left several inquiries in some of the Adobe forums and got no answer.
I'm glad I found you in that one forum but I was beginning to doubt that I would get an answer.
My next thing to try was to try to delete AIR in "safe mode" but I have never been there and was wondering if that would even work.
For some reason this software has had a problem since I bought it.
I have had to uninstall and reinstall 4 times now and I was wondering if there was a reason for that.
One of the Market Samurai support crew told me I should do manual updates but I have no idea what that means.
Occasionally when I try to use the software, I am prompted to update and I always do so then so I am not aware of any automatic updates.
I chalk it up to my ineptness.
Thank you again for the help, Chris
    You are a life saver!

    Hello Anthony:
There is no "uninstall." If you have a backup (hopefully you do) made before you moved to OS X 10.6, restore that.
If you do not, this article gives you the options:

  • Macbook pro. app tries to use flash player and get " Blocked plugin" how to uninstall and reinstall flash player. update does nothing ?

Wife has an older MacBook Pro. when an app uses flash player "Blocked plugin" comes up. I don't know much about mac, tried to update flash player and get newer version already installed, and update and still get same message. How do I uninstall flash player and reinstall?

Sounds like it is blocked for the website you are at. Check with this:
You can quickly test whether a recently added plug-in is causing problems by blocking it.
Choose Safari > Preferences, click Security, then click Website Settings next to Allow Plug-ins.
Select the plug-in you want to disable on the far left, then click each pop-up menu on the right and choose Block. For some plug-ins, you see pop-up menus for different websites, and you can choose to block each one individually. Use the “When visiting other websites” pop-up menu to block all other websites that don’t have individual settings.

  • How to uninstall apps from Creative Cloud App and reinstall it on your computer and CC App?

Sorry, my English is not good. I have a Creative Cloud app on my computer. I used the CC applications such as Ps, Pr, Au ... of two days, but I had to do a system restore two weeks back. Now re-installed Creative Cloud on my computer. I do not have Ps, Pr, Au ... on the computer but on the App Cloud Creative sees them as installed on the computer. So I can not reinstall them because I do not give permission, it is only optional update, but I do not like, because they do not want on your computer. How to uninstall apps from Creative Cloud App and reinstall it on your computer and CC App? Please help, I have a little time.

  • How to uninstall and reinstall iPhoto

How to uninstall and reinstall iphoto

I found a way to edit a command line that was supposedly going to manipulate the program to make my modified photos save as the originals.
Do you mean you modified the application (program) or the library?  If it's the application reinstall the app from the App Store. If you just modified the library then you'll have to do what Larry recommends.
You could try rebuilding the library as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
If the rebuild library isn't any better than the current library you can trash it.

  • How to uninstall and reinstall Adobe InDesign CS5?

My Adobe InDesign CS5 stopped opening properly. Upon startup all the menu items were grayed out and unaccessible. Adobe Chat support advised me to uninstall and reinstall CS5.
My other Adobe programs are working fine. (CS5 photoshop, illustrator, acrobat, etc.)
    MacBook Pro OS10.9.3
Anyone know how to uninstall and reinstall CS5?
Unfortunately Adobe chat service no longer supports this function on this older software.
    Thanks for your help.

before you go to the trouble of uninstalling/reinstalling--try this (it's called resetting the preferences)
OOPs--I forgot that I was in the indesign forum
There is a quick and easy method for doing this using the keyboard: close and relaunch InDesign, and IMMEDIATELY hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences. There are two downsides to this method, however. First, you must be extremely fast on the keyboard (if you don’t see the confirmation prompt, you were too slow), and second, anytime you replace the preferences you will lose most program customizations, and using the keyboard method leaves you with no backup to restore them when the problem turns out to be something else.
My preferred method is to CLOSE INDESIGN and do a “manual” prefs replacement, which consists of finding and renaming the two files which make up the preference set: InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData. BOTH of these files should be replaced at the same time. You can delete them, but renaming or moving them will give you the opportunity to copy them back in the event that new prefs doesn’t cure your issue. When you restart ID, the program will look for these two files, and when they are not found, a new default set will be written.
