How to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 completely?

How to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 and Adobe Download Manager completely?
I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 and I don't want to uninstall that.

Hi
Most Mac applications come in self-contained packages (ctrl-click, or right-click, & you will see Show Package Contents), they can just be dragged to the trash.
Some applications have their own uninstaller which must be run.
With Adobe Reader 8, I believe the icon in Applications is a folder so just drag it to the trash & empty the trash. I believe Download Manager (Applications/Utilities) should be the same. Someone may know different.
There is also AppZapper or AppDelete. These work by you dragging & dropping the application you wish to delete onto its icon, AppZapper/AppDelete then pulls all parts of that application together then moves it to the trash.

Are you mixing Adobe Acrobat with the Adobe Reader?
If you have Acrobat on your computer you need to associate PDFs with Reader to open in it.
You also need to get the latest security patches for Reader.

  • How can I uninstall adobe acrobat reader 10?

I just installed this program because I thought it was better than Preview! But it's ugly and slow and it takes more than 500MB of space! How can I remove it completely? I can't find the uninstaller! F@#k Adobe!

    Hi John,
I used File Buddy to search for "reader" on my main drive. This is everything it returned that relates to the Acrobat Reader X:
    /Applications/Adobe Reader.app
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Help/en_US/Adobe Reader
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/com.adobe.Reader
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Caches/com.adobe.Reader
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Caches/com.adobe.Reader.ARM
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Application Support/Expression Media/Plug-ins/Helper Applications/Adobe Reader
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Receipts/com.adobe.Reader
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Reader_x86_9.0.plist
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Logs/Adobe/Adobe Reader Updater.log
    /Users/retoucher/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Reader.plist
    /private/var/root/Library (from old Mac)/Receipts/com.adobe.Reader
The only one that isn't readily accessible is the .plist file in the /private/var/... folder. But it's only 29Kb.
For the most part, Mac apps don't spread themselves as pervasively as they do in Windows. Larger apps like Photoshop (or the Adobe suites), Final Cut Studio, Quark, etc., tend to drop more stuff around the drive in the System or main Library folders. But for smaller apps, they tend to be the main app, a few things in the Application Support folders, and a preference file (or a few of them).

  • How to remove Adobe Acrobat XI completely from computer

I had/have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard installed on my computer. We wanted to see what additional services were available through XI.  We downloaded the trial version and when we were satisfied that we did not require that edition, we removed same through the control panel.  Now, PDF Maker no longer works, and the addon Tab only appears in WORD.  As well, when we try to download/open PDF documents from the internet, we are unable to do so.  How do I remove XI completely from my computer in order to allow PDF Maker to work again.  The error I receive is that the server is cannot be loaded.

uninstall acrobat 9 and then run the acrobat cleaner:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    then reinstall acrobat 9.

  • How to Uninstall Adobe Acrobat 9.0 from Vista?

On my laptop (Windows Vista), I have a Adobe Acrobat 9.0 which I need to uninstall. It was giving me limited access and use. To remedy this, I installed, Adobe Reader 8.0. That works fine but when I want to read pdf files, the 9.0 version pops up first and gives me a message that I'm unable to read the file. I can't always elect "Save Target As" to opt to use the 8.0 version of Reader (i.e. viewing bank statements).
When I went to delete Adobe 9.0 from my C drive, I was denied access because I "don't have permission".
Does anyone know how to fix this?

You can only uninstall from an administrative account. Be aware you are not supposed to have Reader and Acrobat on the same machine. Uninstalling Acrobat 9 will break Reader which will need to be re-installed. For Vista compatability make sure you update to 8.1.3 or later.

  • Trouble installing and uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.3.1

Adobe wasn't opening the files. I did system restore several times and it didn't work. I uninstalled all the adobe programs and reinstalled. There was an error message about administrator. I tried again. Then it said adobe reader cannot be installed. Now I could get the documents but could not print them. Next I tried to uninstall again (all through add/remove programs) Now I cannot uninstall Adobe 9.3.1, the message is "patch package couldn't be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package." When I checked to see what to do the answer was to use micosoft installer cleanup utility. This application comes with warnings and I want to be sure this is the correct thing to do and that it won't mess up other things on my computer. Please help. My children are in exams and need this program.

MICU (Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility) might work, but it's something I've never used.
Regarding System Restore. I always tell people that System Restore is an absolute last resort if Windows isn't working properly. In other words, if your only other option is to reformat and reisntall the Operating System, try Restore first. Other than that it does more harm than good 99.99% of the time.
If you're comfortable with REGEDIT, you can manually delete the Reader folder from Program Files, and then delete all keys for Reader 9 from the HKEY/LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Adobe and HKEY/CURRENT USER/Software/Adobe registries, reboot, and then try re-downloading and reinstalling Reader. Again, that's IF you're comfortable with editing your registry. If not, go with the MICU.

  • How to download Adobe Acrobat Reader & Adobe Flash Player without install?

    Hello!
I have over 100 computers without connect to Internet. How can I get installation files without automatic install to the current computer?!

Hi, With this link, you should be able to SAVE the Installer to the Desktop. Just be sure to reject any extras like Toolbars, McAfee, etc.
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/
With Flash Player you can also SAVE the Installers to the Desktop:

I hope this is what you need.

  • How to completely uninstall adobe acrobat pro 9 trial version?

How do I completely uninstall adobe acrobat pro 9 tial version
after it has expired?  Since this has expired I am having issues with other programs that use Adome A
crobat and the new flash player will not install correctly.

If uninstalling Acrobat normally does not resolve the issue, you better ask in the appropriate Acrobat forum.  Don't forget to mention your OS and any relevant details.
You can continue this topic regarding your problem with Flash Player, but we also need to know your OS, browser, and the exact details of your problem.

  • How to disable Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader in Safari

How do I disable Adobe Acrobat Reader to prevent Safari from using it to open PDFs? I have Safari 7.0.5, OS X v10.9.4. FYI, there is nothing in my User> HD> Library> Internet Plugins folder. And I've already right clicked on a PDF in Finder and selected the option to always use Preview to open PDFs. But Safari still opens PDFs with Acrobat Reader. Thanks

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

http://www.essexinfo.net/queens-road-residents-association/assets/documents/village-voices is one example but a whole lot of the material which has been uploaded as pdf files over the last four years is now unviewable - if you click on the link you just get a black page.  The main site url is http://www.essexinfo.net and our site is the Queens Road Residents Association.  I have just gone through every link on the site and a number of links when clicked on will not bring up the material.  I tried going into Adobe 10 on my computer and disenabling protected mode as was suggested on your forum and at first when I went back into the essex info site it seemed to have worked when I clicked on a link that had only produced a black page.  However when I went back to test all the other links I found that the problem was still re-occuring.  This is really weird as the site and my connections to it which I sometimes make by directly accessing the site and sometime via a link from our QRRA blog have always worked perfectly with no problems up to now.  I downloaded adobe 10.1 on 8 March 2011.
I contacted essexinfo separately but they said everything seemed to be OK at their end working from within the system.
If you can help I would appreciate it.

    Hi,
It looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents\MSFS.
This might be due to the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue, and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
    1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool fromhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
    2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
    3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
    4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
        i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
       ii. subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process ends, retry the operation you were originally trying to perform. Hopefully, they should succeed now.
