How to uninstall Command Line Developer Tools

Hello, After upgrade to OSX Mavericks by mistake I downloaded Command Line Developer Tools. I'm not a coder, just a graphic designer and I'm not gonna need it. It's about 300 MB size and I don't want it. The worst part is that its the second time Apple Update shows a new update for this. If I try to move Library/Developer/CommandLineTools folder to trash I'm asked to provide my admin password, so I don't do it because I'm affraid to harm my OS. I've been searching on the web for an answer close to my case but only found uninstall tips related to Xcode that don't apply to me. Can you please help me to get rid of this Command Line Tools? Thanks a lot in advance!

Do it. It will not harm OS X, and you will be removing the Command Line Developer tools. Nothing will happen to your Mac, but you should make a backup of your files before modifying system files.

  • How to uninstall "Command Line Tools" in Xcode 4.3?

    Just installed Command Line Tools using the perference in Xcode 4.3. After removing Xcode 4.3, I found the Command Line Tools are not removed.
    Is there any way to uninstall?
    Thanks!

    Check the 'About Xcode' readme:
    Uninstalling Xcode Developer Tools
    To uninstall Xcode developer tools on the boot volume along with the <Xcode> directory, from a Terminal window type:
    $ sudo <Xcode>/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all
    To remove the underlying developer content on the boot volume, but leave the <Xcode> directory and supporting files untouched, from a Terminal window type:
    $ sudo <Xcode>/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=systemsupport
    To just remove the UNIX development support on the boot volume, but leave the <Xcode> directory and supporting files untouched, from a Terminal window type:
    $ sudo <Xcode>/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=unixdev
    Finally, to just uninstall the <Xcode> directory you can simply drag it to the trash, or from a Terminal window type:
    $ sudo <Xcode>/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=xcodedir
    NOTE: The uninstaller that ships with previous versions of the Xcode developer tools will not clean everything off of your system properly. You should use the one installed with these Xcode developer tools.
    -=-
    If you find a black hole with the above, you could always reinstall Xcode, with those tools deselected and then delete according to the above, but all bets are off at that point, sorry
    Good luck in any case.

  • How to give command line arguments

    does anyone help me out in how to give command line arguments after run my program
    m using netbeans6.0.1

    If you want your program to take console input while it's running (as opposed to command line arguments, which are passed once, when you start your program), you can wrap a BufferdInputStream or a Scanner around System.in.

  • How do I completely uninstall Xcode and Developer Tools?

    **Sorry if this isn't the place to ask this, but I really didn't find a section dedicated to this, so I'm asking it here.**
    I installed Xcode and the Mac developer tools from Apple's developer site page and I'm not going to use it (for the time being anyway). I dragged and dropped all of the files from the download into the trash and emptied it. Then, I went to Terminal, and typed in the following:
    sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools –mode=all
    It gave me a prompt to enter my password before continuing, entered my password, and then that was it! Question is, though, is this really it? Did I really get rid of Xcode and all of the developer stuff that came in the Mac Developer Tools download?

    The only thing that I could find in utilities that started with "X" was something called "X11". Also, I had Xcode 3.1.2 installed, and at first I tried typing this command in Terminal:
    $ sudo <Xcode>/Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all
    I got this from the "About Xcode 3.1.2" document from Apple's developer site, but it wouldn't work. Then I tried the code that I posted in my first post, and I guess it worked. I actually entered the code
    sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools –mode=all
    a few times (for closure) and the same thing happened every time: password to continue and, that's it! So I guess it worked. I actually got that code from a blog after googling "how to uninstall xcode 3.1.2 and developer tools"!

    Hi, MB.
    If you are talking about the automatic Java Web Start support for launching app clients in GlassFish, you can pass the equivalent of command line arguments using the query string of the URL you use to launch the app client.
    Briefly, use
    http://host:port/client-path?arg=first-arg&arg=second-arg& ...
    specifying the argument values in the order that you want them passed to the client.
    The GlassFish server will do the right thing and generates the correct JNLP so your arguments are passed to the app client.
    The GlassFish developer's guide http://glassfish.dev.java.net/nonav/javaee5/docs/AS91DG.pdf discusses this and all aspects of the Java Web Start support. You can also take a look at this blog entry http://blogs.sun.com/quinn/entry/command_line_arguments_and_properties that focuses on how to pass arguments.
    Since this technique deals with argument passing in the URL, it works no matter how you launch the app client: a URL in a browser, the javaws command, etc.

  • New cirrus command-line development in linux

    Hey everybody.   I've been researching and planning a development using the cirrus service for a while now and have finally gotten around to some serious development.  I decided to use the Flex SDK command line tools on a linux system for a majority of the early work.  I don't know how many members of the community are relying on the comand-line tools for their development, but I have run into a few issues.
    Here's what I'm running:
    Ubuntu 10.10
    Flex SDK 4.1.0 build 16076
    Flash Projector 10.1.102.64
    ..  I've been prototyping my app as a flex 4 mxml and have run into compiler issues when cirrus specific components are integrated into the code.
    So I have a few basic questions that some of the cirrus veterans might be able to easily answer.
    1.  Does the current stable Flex SDK release have support for the cirrus specific classes and logic?
    2.  If no, does the Flex SDK have to be configured or referenced via the OS in order to support cirrus, or is there a development build with support?
    3.  If yes, do actionscript or mxml files need to reference specifc libraries to identify the cirrus?
    4.  Do the command-line compilers need specific config variables to enable or disable cirrus features?

    Jay,
    Your question isn't very clear, hence Joerg's well meaning but irrelevant advise.
    Do you mean:
    I've written a simple program in java which echos
    it's command-line arguments to back to the console.
    Here's my code:
    package forums;
    public class ArgsEchoer
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        for (String arg : args) {
          System.out.println(arg);
    But can't figure out how to compile and run the program.
    I'm using winblows shista, and it's cr@p.
    Please help me, Thanks in advance.So... where are you at? Have you installed the JDK (java development kit)? Which version? Is your path set? Is your classpath set?

  • How to add command line arguments to shortcuts in the LV8.5.1 installer

    I want to create multiple shortcuts to my LV program, each with different command line arguments.
    I can do this manually.
    I want the installer to generate these shortcuts.
    I can add different shortcuts in de installer build specification, but I cannot add commandline arguments in the shortcuts.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    Rindert

    Hello Forum,
    Does anyone have any better data for this?  I would also like to create an installer using Labview Project Explorer tool (Build Specification->Installer), and I have a need to create some shortcuts to some EXE's (VS.NET built, not LV) which need to have some arguments passed.  I just verified that LV8.6 still does not seem to offer the option of passing arguments when creating shortcuts.  Is this correct?   Creating stub EXE's or batch files isn't a good option for my project, so I'd like to have someone confirm if LV installer tool can't create shortcuts w/ arguments before I fire up InstallShield.

  • Uninstalling Command Line Programs

    I've searched these forums and the internet for an answer to this, but there doesn't seem to be anything out there, so I hope this will be helpful to others as well.
    I have some open source command line programs that I downloaded, compiled, and installed as part of some exercises I was doing in a book on open source GIS (geographic information systems). What I want to know is how do I remove those programs? I can find references for compiling and installing these types of programs all over the internet, but nothing about removing or uninstalling them.
    Also, any ideas for good, up-to-date references on learning Unix in Mac OS X would be appreciated too. I'd like to get more into open source GIS, but from the research I've been doing, knowing Unix would help a lot.

    What process did you use to compile and install? Was it a configure, make, make install sequence, which is fairly common? If so, go back to the directory where you did that, and try, for example, 'make uninstall'. This might work.
    Look for output files from the compile and install process (perhaps config.log) that might tell you where files will be installed. Perhaps in /usr/local?
    Is there a README or INSTALL file that came with the source code? Documentation about what was installed where might be there.
    If worst comes to worst, and you're really determined, you could repeat the compile and install steps, but with a before and after listing of all the files in your system, and compare the listings. Or use the find command immediately after the reinstall, looking for recently created or changed files (the 'mtime' option or similar).

  • How we run command line commands in oracle

    Thanks in advance.

    > MY SELECT:select OSexec('dir') as STDOUT from dual;
    ERROR:-1command[dir] The handle is invalid.
    In the sample code, I've executed a Linux/Unix program called date, physical file /usr/bin/date.
    Is there a DATE.EXE or a DIR.EXE program that you can execute on Windows?
    No. Both DATE and DIR are commands of a program - a 32bit console program called CMD.EXE.
    Your confusion stems from thinking that OSEXEC is calling the Windows shell command line. It is not. It is not calling CMD.EXE and passing Window Shell Commands to CMD.EXE.
    OSEXEC is calling, via Java, the Win32 API call called CreateProcess(). This is a call to the Win32 kernel. It requests the kernel to load an executable program as a process image.
    The kernel expects an EXE (or executable) file to load. You are passing it a command from a program. You just as well can pass it a Java command, a MS Access Basic Command, an Excel Macro, etc... Same thing. The kernel has no idea that this "command" needs another program to be loaded, and that command be "passed" somehow to that program.
    So, you need to call CMD.EXE via OSEXEC. And you can pass parameters to it. Open a Command Console and type cmd /? for help on the command line switches and parameters for CMD.EXE.
    I believe the following should work:
    SQL> select OSEXEC( 'c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c date /t') from dual;
