  • How to uninstall final cut pro 5

How do you do this? I have used app delete to erase the files but it didn't get them all. I know this because when I check for updates it still offers me the final cut pro updates. I have searched around but cant find an uninstaller. Help please.
    Thanks,
    Macguy3000

Warning - This is a long post.
How to uninstall Final Cut Pro & the other ProApps -
There are two ways to do this. The first requires that you insert the
install discs for each app and go through the following procedure to
    identify the installed files.
    1) Insert the disc and double click the install icon.
    2) Click to let the installer check your system
    3) After the installer opens, click File > Show Files (Command-T)
    4) Click the disclosure triangle next the the app's name to show all the
files installed, then select all of them
    5) Choose Edit > Copy (Command-C)
    6) Open a text editor & paste the list
    7) If you have a printer connected, print
    8) Make sure you delete the file/folder in the exact location indicated
    in the list
    9) Insert the next app's install disc and repeat
The other way involves the Terminal.
    Using Terminal:
    1) In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G)
    2) Enter the location /Library/Receipts/FinalCurPro.pkg/Contents
    3) Click Go to open the Contents folder
    4) Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
    5) Enter the command lsbom -s (a lower case L, not an upper case i)
lsbom lists each of the files inside the bill of materials. To list only
the folders, the command would be lsbom -d.
    6) Type a space, then drag the Archive.bom file from the Finder window
    to the Terminal window.
    7) Press Return to view the list
    8) Drag to select the list in the Terminal window and choose File > Copy
    (Command-C)
    9) Open a text editor and paste the list into it. Print if you have a
    printer attached.
    10) Guided by the list, delete all the files and folders, being
extremely careful to delete from the exact locations shown in the list.
NOTE: The above comes from the Peachpit book Optimizing Your Final Cut
    Pro System.

  • Anyone know how to uninstall Final Cut Studio?

I've attempted 3 installs and at the very end it says there were errors (of course, it doesn't say what errors), and to try again. Well, after 20+ hrs. into this I think it's time to start with a clean slate. But I can't find anything online on how to uninstall Final Cut Studio. I found several links to some mysterious document 93150, but apple's site doesn't have it anymore. Yeah, my luck.
If anyone could help me on this, you're sure to get lots of good karma this weekend, maybe even into the week.
    thanks,
    -w

Yeah, the Knowledge Base documents to uninstall FCP 4 or higher no longer exist. (only the doc for FCP 3 exists) That being said, the Troubleshooting Basics for Final Cut Pro 5 document does detail how to trash receipts and reinstall. Haven't needed to try it myself (knocking on wood) but I take it you've have and it still hasn't worked out for you?
What, exactly, is prompting all of these installs?

  • How do I uninstall Final Cut Express to sell?

I want to sell my copy of Final Cut Express HD as I no longer need it. How do I uninstall the software so that the buyer will experience no licensing issues when they come to install it on their own Mac?

No and he wouldn't have had any problems even if you hadn't uninstalled it.
All that happens is that whenever a new person registers it overwrites the previous person.
In any case it's really a waste of time registering as it confers no benefits other than getting rid of the "nag-screen" asking you to register after every fifth launch of FCE!

  • How to install Final Cut Express on a different mac

    Hi everybody,
my dead iMac is under repair. Now, I need to install Final Cut Express on a different machine but I don't understand if this is possible. I mean, at the end of the process the installer will ask me to register the product, but the product is yet registered. And i'm not going to torrent final cut studio... I bought the original sw!
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks everybody

Thank you, Ian. It's not a laptop, just the mac of a friend of mine, so i'll have to uninstall it AFTER a good restore from Time Machine...

  • Do I have to uninstall Final Cut Express 4 to Install Final Cut Studio 3

Can I leave Final Cut Express 4 on my machine at the same time install Final Cut Studio 3. I have some unfinished projects on FCE I want to finish at some time but not necessarily in the next few weeks.
Are these programs going to conflict with each other or is it best to just uninstall FCE? Also...is FCE uninstall just a straight delete? I don't see an uninstall app.
    Thanks
    Bryan

FCE and FCS can live quit happilly together.
Sticking to FCE for FCE stuff is a wise move.

  • How to uninstall Final Cut

My company use to share a copy of final cut knowing it would only work accross the network on one machine at a time. We use it enough that we needed another copy so we bought one. Do I now need to uninstall and reinstall with the new serial number or is there an easier way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Download the software and take a look. It gives you options on what you delete.
fwiw - this is why I have created disk images of the entire FCS install package and store them on a firewire drive.
An installation consists of firing up the drive, mounting all the disk images on the computer's desktop and launching the installer from the disk image. Once I enter the serial number, the installation runs along without any additional interaction. The installer finds the next disk as needed. The entire process can be done in 20-30 minutes.
If you are doing a reinstall on a machine for other reasons, I would suggest using Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager to backup your FCS preferences before you remove the program.
Once everything is reinstalled, you can selectively reapply the prefs as desired to bring things back to the previous user setup.

  • Uninstalling Final Cut Express 3.5 after installing 4.0

After installing FCE 4, I noticed that version 3.5 is still present. The Apple web site contains instructions on how to uninstall version 3.5
    <http://support.apple.com/kb/TA38198?viewlocale=en_US>
but how many of those locations are used by both versions?

    Russ H wrote:
Just curious, do you suspect  3.5 is creating a conflict with 4.0.?  Or is it a matter of house cleaning…or is there some other reason why you want to get rid of it?
    Russ
    Actually, either or both.
I did use their FCS Remover and it removed everything, FCE 3.5 and 4. Fortunately, the folders from which all of the files were removed were identified, so I simply replaced everything except for the 3.5 app. I am still using version 3.5 within a separate partition for existing projects. If I had known then what I know now, I would have simply deleted the 3.5 application and not worried about the other files.

  • How do I properly uninstall Final Cut Express HD

I got a new MacBook Pro, and put my old FCE HD on to it with the Migration Assistant, but now it doesn't work because the hardware is different. Now, how do I get FCE properly uninstalled???
Is there a certain doing for every program to uninstall???

    Use this to uninstall: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm
If I recall correctly, you'll need FCE 4 to install and run properly on an IntelMac.

  • How To Uninstall Final Cut Studio

Anyone know of a way to do this? I have no desire for it to be taking up the space it takes up when I barely, if at all use it anymore.
Anyone? Looked on Apple's Discussion Forums and found nothing of substance.
    Thanks.
Not sure if it matters but the version of FCP it came with was 5. I want to remove the whole Studio though

This page tells you how to properly remove receipts and user preferences so upon reinstall the software update works correctly along with the rest of the program.
I am not looking to re-install.
I am leary of apps like AppZapper.
I was curious if maybe someone had a nice clean list like Adobe does here for CS 2: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=331301

  • Uninstalled final cut HD express but software update still reminds me

I have uninstalled Final cut express HD, because I didn't know it would not run on an intel Mac (no AGP video), but when running software updates it reminds me of updates. Uninstalled by dragging to trash, can't find any other related items using spotlight.

If you ever want to uninstall again, properly, follow the instructions on this link :-
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301182
Note that some of the items are for LiveType and Soundtrack.

After reinstalling with FCS Remover, you need to update everything to the latest version including ProKit.

  • Upgrading from Final Cut Express to FCPX

I have downloaded the trial version of FCPX and need help in trying to make a DVD using photos I have optimized via Adobe Elements.  Each photos has dimensions of 4288 X 2848 and has a size of about 500 Kb.
I have opened the FCPX trial with its original parameters [720 p and 23fps?] and made a project which lasts about 10 minutes using these photos while applying the Ken Burns Effect, transitions and sound.
I would like to make a DVD for viewing on my TV but don’t know how.  In Final cut Express, I would export the project as a Quick Time movie and then open it in i-DVD where I could burn a DVD of the project.
    So my questions are;
1] are my photos optimized correctly,
2] are the settings in the trial FCPX OK [previously I used AVCHD Intermediate Codec 1920 X 1080i60 at 29.97fps in Final Cut Express]
3] how do I burn a DVD of projects made in FCPX?

    1) Your images are probably about three times larger than they need to be for standard defintion.
    2) If you're working on with stills and going to DVD, which is standard definition, there is really no point in working in anything other than an SD format 720x480 widescreen if you want or 4:3. Make it progressive and whatever frame rate you need, PAL or NTSC, or 23.98.
    3) FCP has a simply DVD burning function, or you can do as you did before, export a master file and take it to iDVD. (Be careful though if you're using anamorphic settings.)

  • Installation skips Final Cut Express upgrade; installs only Soundtrack/LivT

Maybe I'm missing something. I've tried installing FCE HD 3.5 upgrade over the previous version, and then tried uninstalling Final Cut Express 3.1 completely and installing Final Cut Express 3.5 alone, but I can't seem to install it. Even after running disk utility and making sure that I was logged in as Administrator, correctly entering License, then Selecting Destination, the installation type still only lists the SoundTrack package (4.GB) and LiveType (9.7GB) as viable installations. And both installed fine. The Final Cut Express HD package (18.6MB) is grayed out and unavailable.
What's going on? I believe my iMac G4 fits the minimum system requirements. Any suggestions?
    iMac (15 flat-panel)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1GB, 800mhz, 66GB on hard drive available for installation
    iMac (15 flat-panel)   Mac OS X (10.3)

I installed the FCE 3.5 upgrade without unistalling any thing of the 3.0.1 version I had (actually I wasn't sure that was the right approach, and the enclosed booklet wasn't really clear about).
Installation was straightforward; the installation type listed all three programs (FCE, Soundtrack, LiveType) with the "Upgrade" label, and I had to input only the upgrade reg.number.
Probably you should try again a clean reinstall of the 3.0.1 version first and then upgrade.
