How to uninstall GarageBand 08 to install 09?

I just bought iLife 09. How do I uninstall 08 so I can install 09?
thx

I just received my imac on Friday (first mac) and was so nervous about doing something wrong.
I just dropped ilife 09 into the slot - and it did it all for me.
(I had the 10.5.6 OS already though).
It appears to have either overwritten or uninstalled ilife 08 for me?
It's working a dream anyway.

  • How to uninstall/delete software not installed through Pacman.

    I tried to search for an answer, with limited success. I have installed some stuff from external sources using various installers. In particular, I installed some stuff from Humble Bundle which, if I recall correctly, used this automated installer called Nixstaller, which I thought would register the packages in Pacman. And when I look at the website, it says that if it fails to register the software in the package manager, it will generate an uninstall script. I installed e.g. Torchlight in /usr/local/games, but there is no uninstall script to be found there, or in the generated folder in /home. Neither does it seem to be registered in Pacman. So how do I get rid of it? Is there a way to uninstall it, or would I have to remove everything manually? If I have to remove it manually, how do I know where everything is located? I assume the installation isn't necessarily limited to the /usr/local/games folder I picked and /home, so how would I go about getting rid of it all?

    Not to my knowledge.  You can ask pacman to show you ALL files not owned by a package and then begin to manually delete ones you feel do not belong.  Note that you should NOT just blindly start removing these!
    Here is ~/bin/pacman-disowned that I got from here; can't remember who authored it.
    #!/bin/sh
    tmp=${TMPDIR-/tmp}/pacman-disowned-$UID-$$
    db=$tmp/db
    fs=$tmp/fs
    mkdir "$tmp"
    trap 'rm -rf "$tmp"' EXIT
    pacman -Qlq | sort -u > "$db"
    find /bin /etc /lib /sbin /usr \
    ! -name lost+found \
    \( -type d -printf '%p/\n' -o -print \) | sort > "$fs"
    comm -23 "$fs" "$db"|less

  • How do I uninstall Garageband 02 and install Garageband 08?

    I just bought a second mini (used) that has Garageband 02 on it, and need to get Garageband 08 on it instead. I have the disks that came with my first mini. How do I get Garageband 02 out of the used mini and Garageband 08 on it? The two disks I have don't say which has iLife on them. Thanks.

    well, I tried using disk 2 and the message was "insert disk 1", which gives me the message that I can't install the software on that computer. I sure was hoping disk 2 would work. Have spent too much time on this.

  • How to uninstall multiple Adobe Reader Install

    Dear Forum,
    Last night I attempted to install Photoshop Elements 6 for OS X and ran into problems. I have the Photoshop installed and registered. But it also had the Adobe Reader as a choice. So,I thought that the reader is probably required to read the users guide. So, I had problems downloading it, and ended up with multiple downloads which I would like to uninstall. I have one icon for the Adobe Reader Installer, and 3 other reader icons showing in applications. How do I uninstall these extra duplicates. I was up all night with this problem. I have an iMac which is 6 months old, 3 G RAM. I use Firefox 3 most of the time. I have other programs which I would like to load, so I don't want to use up memory if I don't have to. Also, it shows a circle with a slash through it sometimes which says it is not can't be used in this architecture. Help!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Annie

  • How to uninstall Lion OS and install Win7?

    I have a MacAir with 64Gb.
    to fully utilise the space, i will like uninstall Lion and install Win7 only.
    can anyone advise how to do it with bootcamp? if not possible, w/o bootcamp?
    thanks

    Do you have 10.6 Client? Does it boot/run on the latest Mini?
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    From there you can reformat or erase the Disk

  • HT1846 ok, so now what? how to uninstall 64 and then install 32 bit version of Windows 7 in bootcamp?

    please help. i just wasted a couple hours installing and then updating the 64 bit version.

    There is today no reason to be using 32-bit
    And it isn't rocket science to just reinstall and format like you did before from the DVD
    But I have not seen where 32-bit version was needed and that programs and drivers were an issue.
    Assume you know how to use Boot Camp Assistant and read the help guide inside.

  • How to Uninstall Old Versions and Install Version 6 Update 13 of Java

    When I try to install Version 6 Update 13 (tried it by downloading file and doing a manual install), get this message:
    bin\awt.dll:Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match.
    Have tried to unintall Version 12 from "Add/Remove Programs" with no luck.
    Shall I unistall all Java programs and try to reinstall?

    Bailey,
    This is a bit of a pain the arrse but... I suggest you disable java in all your browsers in (tools ~ options) and then reboot to ensure the java plugin is not loaded. Now try uninstalling through add-remove-programs.
    If add-remove-programs doesn't work then manually delete the JRE & JDK directories in windows explorer and then run a registry-cleaner (google it, there's a few good free ones, I use registry-mechanic and crapcleaner (yes that's really what it's called)) to clean-up dangling guids, etc. Also check add-remove-programs... if any of the old Java installs still appear then try uninstalling.. they should throw some sort of "installation not found" error and remove themselves from the programs list.
    Once all the old versions of Java have been removed then install the latest version, which should install it's plugins in your browser(s) and activate itself... look in (tools ~ options) again.
    Check your PATH, JAVA_HOME, etc environment variables... just type "set" at the command prompt... update them to point to your new JRE (and your new JDK if you have one).
    If you have a CLASS_PATH variable I recommend you copy&paste it's value into a desktop/class_path.txt and delete the variable, coz it's worse than useless.
    Cheers. Keith.

  • How to uninstall Java 7 and install Java 6

    I recently updated to OS X Lion 10.7.5, I have very important application that run Java 6, but the update removed Java 6 and the Java Preferences app and replaced it with Java 7, I am very unhapp with this and have searched online for nearly 4 hours for a fix to my problem.  I just want Java 6 back, and no, I don't want to Archive and reinstall, and I don't want to pay $20 for Mountain Lion update.  I want Java 6 back.

    That's not really true. It removed the browser plugin and if you try to replace it you will be taken to Oracle for Java 7, but it's not clear what happens when you do that. Check in System Preferences for the Java preference pane and see what it says. Type "java -version" in Termina and see what it says. Does it replace all of Java 6, or just the plugin with Java 7.

  • Firefox 4 wont even start up now. how do i uninstall firefox 4 and install previous version

    want to know how to uninstall firefox 4 and install previous version. also where to get download of previous version

    Your problem is caused by the Ask Toolbar which you have installed. There are compatibility issues between Ask and Firefox at the moment.
    Please do the following to ensure a clean installation.<br><br>
    #Use Internet Explorer to download Firefox 4.0.1 from this link: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] and choose "'''Save'''" when you see the prompt. Then save it to your desktop. ''Do not choose "Run"''.<br><br>
    #Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
    #Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
    #Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br>
    Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br>
    Next, click the Firefox button and go to Add-ons, then Extensions. Find the Ask Toolbar in there and click "Remove".
    If you would still prefer to use the previous secure version, use this download link instead of the one to v4.0.1: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] Otherwise the installation procedure and removal of the Ask Toolbar is the same.

  • How to uninstall then reinstall an App

    Hello!
    So I had downloaded the trial versions of adobe suit, then had them deleted after the trial had ended. Afterwards I decided to sign up for the student version of CC. However, once I had the Adobe Application Manager open when I went to dl InDesign it said that it was "up to date" but I do not have it on my computer. I looked up how to uninstall and then re-install the app...unfortunately when I went to Applications/Utilities/...there was no Application Uninstall for Indesign. The same thing has happened with my photoshop. It is "up to date" but not on my computer, and no way to uninstall it. So I am at a loss with what to do. I need to access both programs asap for projects that were due earlier. But I am at a loss.
    Thanks!
