How to uninstall lion 10.7.4

how to uninstall lion 10.7.4

To add to Frank's post .... Or you can boot from the install disks that came with your system, use Disk Utilities to erase the Lion volume and reinstall your prior OS. This assumes you want to remove Lion completely. Back up your system prior to doing this.

  • How to uninstall lion

Is there anything official from APPLE on how to uninstall LION ?  My Macbook shuts down if I try startup from a Snow Leapard disc.  Can I just drag the entire image from my iMAC to an erased Macbook ?

Thanks for the info.  Here's what I did by copying my iMAC image (SL) onto my Lionized Laptop:  Connected firewire from my Laptop to my 27 inch iMAC, put the laptop in Target Disk Mode (Startup Disk System Preferences), booted the iMAC and used Disk Utility to ERASE and Restore the Laptop with my iMAC image.

  • Need to know how to uninstall Lion

I hve foud out the hard way that I have several tird party programs that were supported by Snow leopard but not Lion.  I use these programs all the time.... I want to uninstall lion and go back to Snow leopard... can somone tell me how I can do ths?  Thanks

    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • How to uninstall Lion Server?

I accidentally downloaded Lion Server on my laptop.  I need to uninstall this.  Anyone know how to uninstall?

Well, actually it's been posted some days ago. But it's not quite enough to get rid of it.
Yesterday I gave it a try and, once everything in the note is done, you still have to open Terminal and :
stop the Apache server (sudo apachectl stop to stop it until next reboot or sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist to stop it definitely)
more important : stop the PostGRESQL database server and the collection of information you don't need anymore :
    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.ServerPerfLog.plist
    sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.postgresql.postgres.plist
To revert this commands, simply run them with 'unload -w' changed in 'load -w'.
(I couldn't manage to find a graphical tool to do it, hence the Terminal commands)
If you upgraded from Snow Leopard and would like to get back the original Web Server configuration (with the ~username local web sites) you have to put back the Apache configuration file stored during the Server installation. In /private/etc/apache2, you should find a httpd.conf.bak file, to rename in httpd.conf (beforehand, you should keep a copy of the current file, if ever you change your mind). Then restart Apache (sudo apachectl graceful).

to fully utilise the space, i will like uninstall Lion and install Win7 only.
can anyone advise how to do it with bootcamp? if not possible, w/o bootcamp?
    thanks

Do you have 10.6 Client? Does it boot/run on the latest Mini?
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
From there you can reformat or erase the Disk

  • How to uninstall Lion and restore Snow Leopard?

I did upgrade from Leopard to Lion 10.7.1 two days ago. After that my 2.8 GHz Core i5 4GB DDR3 start to jerking, I sometime even start any applications. That is never happen before when running on Leopard. I can not work for two days already. Anybody can teach me how to restore my iMac to Leopard without harming data stored?

Kappy has a nice writeup, but basically.... back up your data, boot from your Snow Leopard DVD (hold C), go into Disk Utilities and erase your Lion partition. After that completes, back out of Disk Utilites and install Snow Leopard, reinstall your apps and restore your data.

  • Anyone know how to uninstall Lion and reinstall snow leopard without having to pay the $29?

Ever since I purchased and downloaded Lion I have been having problems (applications not running properly or not at all and the computer locks up like every 10 minutes resulting in me having to restart) and want to go back to snow leopard until I feel comfortable that Lion is ready to go.

    Thanks Roscoe . . . .
I came back to this forum to share my experience. I'm working with a 2007/08 - 17" MB Pro. With the LEOPARD OS, not Snow Leopard. I used my original discs and reformatted, reinstalled Leopard. I was able to open Time Machine and restore the files saved on on an external drive. I used this time to make changes to my Apps, and having just doubled my RAM prior to the 'Lion Upgrade', had no issues of slowing or freezing as others are apparently having. Like you, this was relatively painless, though it did take some time to transfer all of my files.
I hesitated performing this process for nearly a month, but kept checking my back-ups to ensure that I had still some saved from the Leopard days. Unfortunately, I was unable to do much of anything. I'm a graphic designer and sell items online, EVERYTHING came to a complete stop with Lion. I couldn't communicate with my printer at all, no fax, no copies, no prints, no scans. I couldn't download images from my camera. Some of my Apps, stopped working, I hated the missing 'Save As' feature. My image viewer and browsers crashed constantly, and my home network 'LOST' me! I couldn't take another day of NO productivity!
My advice to anyone changing or upgrading ANY O.S., whether Mac or PC, always; ALWAYS back up your drive first! We should be backing up often anyway, but it is certainly important to ensure the security of all of your files and program downloads or installations by copying everything prior to making any hardware or software changes. For a small investment of $50 to $100, you can get an external drive. Having the capability of restoring all of your data is  . . . priceless!
Thanks everyone for sharing. Good luck to those experiences these problems. Have Faith, Apple will fix it's issues, and the other manufacturers WILL catch up on the driver codes. We all just need to be patient, until then;  keep on 'backing up'!
*** JJ; were you able to restore an earlier back up? Did that fix your issue? I found a great deal on RAM from Crucial, sometimes this will help increase our speed and performance . . . . just a thought.

  • How to remove lion

Hi just to add myself to the growing number of not so happy people who have upgraded or should i say stepped back in time with os lion. wont bother listing all the probs too many. and i have wasted too much of my time trying to resolve the unresolvable basically the reason why i moved from microsoft to mac was because of crap systems. im afraid lion falls into this catagory less than six months ago i took the leap to mac and was blown away by everything in a good way but since downloading lion dark days are back. long hours waiting for downloads that took mere minutes yesterday take forever today and when its finished bingo the mac tells me i have no memory left and cant open the file and off it pops to crash yet again. ( i have over 800GB spare )  also when i go to apps store to write a review it tells me i cant because i havent purchased it strange but hey not surprised really. anyway thats my little rant anybody tell me how to uninstall lion and go back to snowleopard many thanks

cheesedoff from uk, two pieces of sincere advice:
    1. Don't upgrade to Lion.
    2. Don't come to these discussions looking for help unless you're a programmer. The Dilberts here delight in abusing Apple customers.

  • I have installed mountain lion on my macbook pro ,but it made my mac very slow. Would someone please tell me how  to uninstall this one and reinstall snow leopard?

I have installed mountain lion on my macbook pro ,but it made my mac very slow. Would someone please tell me how  to uninstall this one and reinstall snow leopard? I tried to do it by my original CDs but macbook  pro didn't let me to do it.
    Thanks

It would be easier to just fix whatever is making your machine slow.
I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing these problems. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

  • My mac keeps freezing...How can I uninstall lion?

My mac keeps freezing on me, particularly when Im on safari. The most annoying part is that it happens three or four times in a matter of an hour, and then Im prompted to submit a report that feels like a joke considering that we have yet to see an update for lion solving this issue, and the problem persists. How can I uninstall lion and get macs previous iOS back?
