Hi All,
i uninstalled AV successfully using as below mentioned links:
Moved to VirusScan Other where hopefully an expert can help you.
Until they do I Googled 'How to uninstall VirusScan 8.6 for MAC' and got this as one of the many choices:  https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB54975
There are also uninstall instructions in the User Guide: https://kc.mcafee.com/resources/sites/MCAFEE/content/live/PRODUCT_DOCUMENTATION/ 22000/PD22134/en_US/VirusScan%20for%20Mac%208.6.1%20User%20Guide%20Addendum.pdf
By condemning files to the bin you may have scotched any automated method of removal but I will defer to the experts on that.
Thanks lot,
Suresh Balakrishann

A little late to the game, but .sit files are Stuffit files as developed by http://www.stuffit.com/ Apple used to use this compression format, but does no longer, and no longer includes the free Stuffit Expander program made by Stuffit.com. If you need to extract an old .sit uninstaller, get it from Stuffit.com. And also any company making such a program for Mac OS X should seriously consider upgrading their downloads to be .dmg.zip files instead, which are more easy to extract on Mac OS X without downloading extra software.

  • How to uninstall McAfee Anti-theft?

I have recently bought my notebook and would like to competely uninstall McAfee Anti-Theft before even registering this programme. I don't have sensitive data on my notebook and don't need this software.
I have read that it is difficult to completely uninstall this programme.
Is this true or can I just choose the uninstall procedure in the system settings tab?

    Ive tested it for you.
Uninstall McAfee Internet security at first and then after notebook restart uninstall McAfee Anti-Theft.
Do it using uninstall option in Control Panel > Programs and Features.
I dont see any problem with removing it.
At the end go to McAffe Security Advisor symbol at the desktop, click with right mouse button on it and choose option uninstall.
    Thats it.

  • HT1386 How can you stop the iPod from syncing photos ot it?  It takes up too much space!!!!!

I just got an iPod and am setting things up, but I don't want it to sync my photos from my computer to the iPod as it takes up too much space.  How do I stop it from syncing the photos?

See here: iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes

  • How do i identify all RAW photos in my Mac and have them removed - taking too much space.

I have a Macbook Air and I keep getting message that I'm out of space. i have emptied the trash but no difference. I believe it is the photos - I have impoted quite a bit of RAW photo files - how do i identify them and then delete them. I dont want to have 2 formats of the same photos.

The process is simple - but tedious.
Select the photos and export them, saving them as Jpegs.
Trash the Library. Make a new one. Import the Jpegs.
    Alternatively: move the Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're intent on trashing the Raws, you have a couple of bigger questions to consider: why are you shooting raw if you're going to trash them? Why are you using iPhoto, which is designed for a non-destructive workflow, if you want a destrucutve one?

  • How do I COMPLETELY uninstall Avast anti-virus (free edition) from my Mac?

How do we completely uninstall Avast anti-virus, latest edition from my Mac?  This product has really messed up my Safari browser with all the extensions and
    possible plug-ins!
    Thank you for any advice!

If you don't have an uninstaller:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

  • How do I install the free mcafee Anti virus for I pad?

I don't know how to find and install the Free Mcafee Anti Virus software for my IPad.

You don't need antivirus or security software as long as you don't Jailbreak your iPad.
Currently there's no known virus affecting iPad.

  • Updated McAfee anti-virus, Computer turned off and now it won't boot past windows

    I have a HP Pavilion P6000 Series
    Model #P6520f
    AMD Athlon II 633 Quad-Core
    6GB DDR3
    1 Terabyte HD
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I was installing updates for McAfee anti-virus, and suddenly the power went out. After a few hours the power came back on and when I turned the computer back on it went straight to disk repair, which I also waited for to run another two hours. I then turned it off and back on but I can't get past the Windows display.

    Hello screwdriver08,
Are you able to boot the system into safe mode? If we can get into safe mode then we know that it's a program causing your issue. If we can't get into safe mode then the operating system is the issue.

  • Mozilla Firefox is my internet browser, I would like to download my McAfee Anti-Virus protection DVD.

I have a new Window 7 Premium Home Edition,Model: Inspiron 560. It came with a 30 day free trail of McAfee Anti-Virus Protection, which expires in less than three days. Roughly, two weeks ago, I received in the mail from QVC, a DVD, named PC Treasures, Inc.-Total PC Software Suite, which has my four year McAfee Anti-Virus Protection program on it.
I was told by one of those so-called Dell experts techs, to install that DVD, into the tray of your modern, a small box would appear in the left-hand bottom of your screen, and type in "RUN". Nothing happened!!! Now,the PC that I had for 15 years, did this, but with this new one, not the same. What do I do, in installing or down loading this DVD? I could use a step by step instructions.

This does not sound to be a Firefox problem.
An obvious question is does your machine play DVDs ?
You will probably need to be in an admin account.
You should be able to use your Firefox browser to find assistance.

( If the DVD is provided by and bought from Dell you may need to contact them that is apparently http://support.dell.com/ )

  • How to uninstall applications I installed from Application store?

Can anybody show me how to uninstall applications I installed from Application store?
I mean I want to remove the applications completely from my iphone, not just hide the icons.

    Page 127 of the manual:
"You can delete applications you’ve installed from the App Store. If you delete an
application, data associated with the application will no longer be available to iPhone,
even if you reinstall the application.
You can reinstall any application and any associated data from your iTunes library
as long as you backed up the application by syncing to your computer. If you try to
delete an application that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.
    Delete an App Store application:
1 Touch and hold any application icon on the Home screen until the icons start to
    wiggle.
2 Tap the “x” in the corner of the application you want to delete.
3 Tap Delete, then press the Home button to save your arrangement."

  • McAfee Anti-virus Program

Where do I find the link to reload the free McAfee anti-virus program?  My current application has corrupted after 3-4 years of working properly.

DO NOT INSTALL! It is incredibly bloated and WILL slow your system down dramatically. It will also disable ALL networked printers and filesharing (even local). It is obtrusive and should not be considered a "benefit" at all.

McAfee is one option. But it is patching the symptoms of a problematic o/s.
There is however a better option. More secure. And less expensive. It is called Linux.
And unlike Windows, it is used as o/s by over 90% of the 500 biggest and fastest computer clusters in the world. Which kinds of ask the question - why would some still want to use Windows as a server o/s for running non-Microsoft software that is not locked into the Windows o/s? When there is a proven and better alternative?
