How to uninstall or somehow remove (not disable) extensions in Firefix 4?

There are some extensions that are incompatible with Firefox 4. Even though they are disabled now, they occupy useful list space and I want to uninstall them or at least remove them from the list somehow. Firefox 4 should have a REMOVE / UNINSTALL feature for extensions / plug-ins / themes as some of these do not have a "Remove" button next to it.

Extensions that do not have a remove button are installed globally by another program and you need to remove them via the preferences of that software.

  • How can I remove a Disabled Extension not compatible with Firefox 4.0.1? I just want to remove it... I don't want to wait for a compatible update. Why can't I remove it?

When I upgraded from 3.XX to 4.0.1, it informed me that 2 extensions were not compatible and it never gave me the option to remove them. Firefox 4.0.1 disabled them and now I'm not able to remove them.
Also they were added by Acrobat Pro X (Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.0) and Nokia Ovi Suite (Firefox Synchronisation Extension 7.3.4.51).
These extensions won't probably be updated unless they update the software that installed them. With this said, How can I remove the disabled extensions? Why it doesn't give me a button to remove them to start with?

I think it's not the problem of compatibility. Extensions installed into Windows registry won't have a remove button ( or it's greyed out ). For these extensions, you can have a look into these keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
If you are under a 64bit OS as I am, you may also try this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
And you may find the registry entries corresponding to the extensions you want to remove. Just export them to a backup.reg, then delete these entries. Firefox will do the rest, but it seems that fx still leaves extensions.rdf untouched. You can also delete the RDF entries corresponding to those extensions inside extensions.rdf
    cf: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons#Windows_Registry_extension
BUT the Wow6432Node key wasn't mentioned in the above article
I had to search the registry to find out the entry corresponding to a Fiddler2 extension, then I found the Wow6432Node key. I also saw the Nokia Ovi Suite entry beside the Fiddler2 entry.
    Hope it helps.

  • Why does Firefox disable the Uninstall button on incompatible and disabled extensions (which should be removed)?

I guess I'm just OCD because I don't want to see a bunch of incompatible and disabled extensions on my list but I can't be the only person who would like to remove them. It seems the obvious choice ... but it is unavailable. Why?

Please don't dodge the question. People have normal adds-ons and extentions that when become incomparable are greyed out and there is no way to uninstall it. Mine is Java at this time. Mine is an extension. I haven't had this enabled since 7 came out apparently I don't need it. So I would like to save space and take the darn thing off the computer. But I can't find a way. Can you please help me? thanks

  • How to uninstall "ghostery" that is not listed in add ons or control panel on win 7?

There have been a fewf popup windows occurring on my computer that I have no knowledge of consenting to. Two of them just pop up; one is in video format and the other two are advertizing windows. The only one that I was able to glean an I.D. from is "ghosty" or something like that. I looked in my add on's and it's not listed in there or my add/remove list. I have no idea how they entered, but I want them off of my computer. I did find one add on that I did not recognize and I disabled that. My greatest pet peeve about Firefox and/or Adobe updates etc is that the spyware virus-like junk creeps in somehow. I know how to keep the obvious ones out like McAfee on Adobe but the others sneak in somehow. My home (google) changes with the regularity, and I'm so frustrated with this crap. I have Win XP on my desktop and Win 7 on my laptop, How do I get rid of these maddening pop ups? I do very few downloads and only from trusted sites, ie Big Fish. My desktop has slowed down so much! I have Norton 2014 9n both computers and have had it on longer than the current slow down so I know it's not Norton.
    Thank you,
    T

  • How do you identify and remove add-ons/extensions

The explanation of how to remove add-ons tells you to click on menu (and then 3 parrelel bars) What menu is that? I figured out(by trying each and every menu until I figured out it was the tools menu. when I get to the last step it says click the remove button. There is NO remove button at that point (just an enable button which is the last thing I want to do. I am talking about the Cinema ploos extension. It represents it's self as an upgrade with many improved features, but all it is is an add bot that is noisy and obnoxious and they want a one time fee (extorsion) to remove it

  • How to uninstall JDev 10.1.3.2 extensions

OK, so I can download extensions by the bucketful and disable them if necessary, but is there a way to uninstall them?
From the patchy documentation, this is what I infer:
    1. Delete the extension JAR file from [Jdev_home]\jdev\extensions
    2. Delete any same-named directories in [Jdev_home]\jdev\extensions
    3. Delete any same-named directories in [Jdev_home]\system
However, I notice some directories in [Jdev_home]\lib\ext and [Jdev_home]\lib\oracle.ideimpl.webupdate.backup.
I am trying to re-package my JDev for sharing with other developers and I really do not want to re-download/re-install.
    Thanks,
    Ara

    To uninstall a Extension:
    1. Stop Oracle JDeveloper.
    2. Delete the extension JAR from the /jdev/extensions directory.
    3. Start Oracle JDeveloper.

None of the above suggestions seem to give me a clear solution to re-installing my bookmarks. • Complete removal of some management packs? (not disable, but removal)

    Hi all,
We are using Oracle Standard Edition 10g database.
As far as I know there are some options that don't belong in Standard Edition without proper licenses such as:
*Application Server Configuration and Diagnostics Pack
    *Database Configuration
    *Diagnostics and Tuning pack
Can you please point me to an document where it is described how these can be completely removed (not just disabled from EM Database Control -> Setup - Management packs) - thus removing all v$iews and pl/sql packages, etc...
    Appreciate your help in advance!

Maybe there's a way to do this with Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) runInstaller. We ran into the same issue with completely removing plugins and this command satisfied our needs.
I have not tried this yet personally.

  • How to uninstall mckeeper

    how to uninstall mckeeper?

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Then a dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Do not empty the Trash after dragging the MacKeeper application to it. Let the application delete itself.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.
