How to uninstall Oracle Database 11g release 2?
Hi,
I want to uninstall Oracle Database 11g release 2.
Im executing the deinstall.bat that is on:
C:\app\MachineName\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\deinstall
then in the command window, i get this message:
Specify all Single Instance listeners that are to be de-configured [LISTENER]:
What should i enter here?
what is a listener?
thanks..mseberg wrote:
Generally the default ( return key ) is correct.
The listener is the network feature that helps you connect. It listens for new connection attempts.
I like to think of it as a traffic cop which allows a connection, but has nothing to do with afterwards.
The Listener is a named process which runs on the Oracle Server, awaiting requests from Clients to connect to the Instance.
The listener does not normally handle connections after the initial request has been done. The listener listens on a port the default is 1521.
Best Regards
msebergthanks a lot, i followed the steps and it is uninstalled now. -

Missing Downloads of Oracle Database 10g Release 1
Does anyone know how to download Oracle Database 10g Release 1 for Non Mac OSX operating systems?
It seem to have disappeared from the download page , only the Mac OSX version remains.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
I can still download a full range or oracle 9i software for all the different OS's.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Matt11g is now on its way, all platforms (except MacOS) support 10gR2, that may be the reason, why Oracle no longer offers 10gR1 for downloading.

How to Uninstall Oracle 10G release 1
I'm a newbie in Oracle DB.
I've been assigned to a new task to assist DBA teams to migration SQL server to Oracle server. I got a new PC which pre-installed 2 Oracles version (9i & 10G), the 9i is OK but the 10G DID NOT work properly and I'd liked to replace 10G release 1 with 10G release 2 (for testing purpose).
I did followed the instruction how to remove the 10G release 1 using the OUI, but the process ran forever ... ( see screenshot --> http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5555/oui10g1qb8.jpg )
I'm also know that I can delete Oracle thru Regedit, but in some Reg. keys do not show the Oracle version (I want to keep the Oracle 9i).
Could someone please enlight me how to uninstall Oracle 10G ?
PC's info:
OS : Windows XP Prof.
1GB RAM
50GB free space
All the Oracle services have been disable before Uninstall.
Thanks Advance.
DTH.Thanks Marcio ...
I'm current process the step by step to remove 10G release 1, if I've problem then I'll let you know
Thanks again.

Oracle JHeadstart 10g release 9.0.5.1 now available!
All,
Oracle JHeadstart 10g Release 9.0.5.1 is now available. More than a month ago Oracle released Oracle JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1). This new JHeadstart release is certified against both JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 and 9.0.5.2. You can now benefit the strong combination of the new versions of Oracle JDeveloper and JHeadstart.
What is Oracle JHeadstart?
JHeadstart is a development tool kit, fully integrated with JDeveloper, that enables rapid component based development of J2EE applications using the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern. It provides customers with 4GL-like productivity without jeopardizing the flexibility and openness of the J2EE architecture. In addition it includes a bridge from Oracle Designer that enables customers to generate fully functioning J2EE applications from Oracle Designer or to migrate Oracle Forms to J2EE.
What is new in this release?
In addition to the certification mentioned above this release includes the following new features:
- Support for Oracle TopLink, adding extra flexibility.
- A Tutorial that describes and a demo application that shows how to use JHeadstart in conjunction with TopLink based on multiple project experiences.
- Links from the Applications Structure File editor to both the BC4J property editor as well as the JHeadstart Application Generator which streamlines the development process.
- Pop-lists for regions and domains to prevent typing errors
- Generation of regions in JSP pages
- Fixes, for a complete list of fixes please refer to the release notes.
Where to download?
This maintenance release can be downloaded from the supplement option portal ( http://cso.oracle.com/ ) for customers that hold a supplement option license. It will be available for evaluation purposes on OTN later on.
Where to go for more information?
For more information go to the JHeadstart Product Center on OTN http://otn.oracle.com/consulting/9iServices/JHeadstart2.html.
Regards,
Ton van Kooten
JHeadstart Team

How to uninstall Oracle 11g on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64
I've install Oracle 11g on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64 system. I'm new to the world of Oracle and I have come to the conclusion why learning about Oracle I've screwed up my in installation of Oracle 11g to the point where nothing Oracle related is working properly. I've decided that I want to uninstall Oracle 11g and start over.
How do I uninstall Oracle 11g on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 x86-64?What do you mean with doesn't work?

Could anyone help me to uninstall oracle database 10g?
I try to uninstall oracle database 10g, but it wasn't successful. Here are the steps I did so far
1)Go to Start/All Programs/Oracle10g Home/Oracle Installation Products, and click on Universal Installer.
2) Click Deinstall Product button.
After I clicked the Deinstall Product button, I wait about 30 min, but nothing is moving. I was frozen at this point. I don't know why?
I've been doing the same step when I deinstall oracle database to the older version, and I was alway successful to deinstall oracle database.
If anyone know how to solve this problem, please, help me out.
Thanks,
Tonyyou were supposed to use OUI to perform install, and you should have shutdown all oracle services before starting. If this is the case, you can delete the remaining files at the former oracle home, if there are privileges issues at next reboot the dll's must be released.

Are you struggling with developer productivity in a J2EE environment? Are you looking for a 4GL-like J2EE Development environment? Do you want to migrate your Forms to J2EE applications? Do you need to build a hybrid application using Forms for your power end-users and Java/HTML for field personnel or the internet? If you answered Yes to anyone of these questions, you need to look into JHeadstart.
Oracle JHeadstart 10g is Oracle Consulting's rapid component based development approach/toolkit for building J2EE applications. The declarative nature of this approach allows you to optionally use Oracle Designer to generate or migrate your Oracle Forms to, Java/HTML. In short: JHeadstart provides you with 4GL-like productivity without jeopardizing the flexibility and openness of the J2EE architecture. We already purchased the Jheadstart supplement option, but our Oracle Consulting sales contact didn't have walked us through the registration process in before. The complete installation installation guide is included with the installation software. It is also part of the exhaustively complete documentation set for every oracle product found at tahiti.oracle.com. Go there, select your product and version. When you arrive at the page for your specific product version, somewhere on that page (location varies between versions) you will find a link to the installation guide.
Also please note that there are several versions of Vista, and the Oracle db is not certified for all of them, but only for specific versions. -
