How to uninstall PlugIn "OpenH264 Video-Codec" ?

How can I uninstall "OpenH264 Video-Codec"-PlugIn from my PC ?
Every other plugin could be uninstalled from the source folder.
As user I would chose for my own, which plugin I want to install on my PC, but I do not want to be
forced to have a plugin installed on my PC, which I could not uninstall if I want to.
I do not even know if I am in need to use "OpenH264 Video-Codec"-PlugIn or not.
And since this plugin is installed in the plugin folder, I have some technical problems
to use firefox and to chose websites from internet.
Please send me some information how to uninstall "OpenH264 Video-Codec"-PlugIn.

Hello the-edmeister,
thanks for your support and your answer.
If I would delete the file gmp-gmpopenh264.dll, it should solve this
problem for first, but if mozilla updates a new firefox version, it seems
to be there for the next time, and I appreciate to have not this plugin
on my PC.
I think this is something unusual for a serious firefox user, that for every
time for new, this file gmp-gmpopenh264.dll have to be deleted, if I do
not want to have it on my PC.
But I prefer not to have this file gmp-gmpopenh264.dll automatically
installed.
If someone is interested in to install this file gmp-gmpopenh264.dll
for using it, there should be another way to download and to install,
but not to have it automatically on a PC, and to read somewhere in
internet, that this file is something about adware or malware.
I want to please mozilla.support, not to install this file gmp-gmpopenh264.dll
anymore with forthcoming updates.
Thank you.

The infested computer uses Win 7 Ultimate x86. I have literary tried everything! There is no forum out there who can handle this. Can you post a sufficient, complete and understandable solution please? I rather not reinstall windows if I don't have to.

hello J-sus, that is a legitimate part of firefox, that for licensing issues has to be shipped as a plugin. do you have any particular reason you want to remove that?: http://andreasgal.com/2014/10/14/openh264-now-in-firefox/

  • Where Is The File Location Of OpenH264 Video Codec 1.1

    HELLO EVERYONE,
Yesterday Tuesday October 14, 2014 I successfully installed Firefox 33. I noticed a new plug-in called "OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. 1.1"
I wanted to know the following:
    1. Where in my Computer or Firefox profile is this plug-in located?
    2. Can I uninstall this plug-in??

    Hello,
Type ''about:plugins'' in the address bar and press Enter. Note the path listed under the plug-in.
"OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc." is a part of Firefox. It's used for WebRTC (video communication). More details below:

  • Satellite A80: How to restore audio and video codecs?

How can I restore the audio and video codecs which are installed by default on my Satellite A80 with XP Home edition?
I removed them in safe mode because of a problem with the Pinnacle Codec installed by Pinnacle Studio 10.
Now I need to set the standard audio en video codecs back.
I already downloaded the codec package from Microsoft Mediaplayer and have sound en video again in Media Player.
Unfortunately I still don't have sound in Toshiba Diagnose Program when testing Midi and Wave sound.
System restore came up with the message that restore was not possible because no changes had been made.

Have investigated in the forum and found this different codecs:
    -Zsunami Filter Pack: (3.9.9)
    - Nimo Codec Pack: (5.0 Final)
    - ACE Mega CoDeC Pack: (5.93)
    - Codec Pack Elisoft: (13.505)
    - K-Lite Codec Pack: (2.2) Full
    - SLD Codec Pack: (1.5 Pro)
    - All in One: (5.0.6.1)
    - The Codecs: (1.1 full)
Well, if the system restore does't work try to install one or several codecs from this list.
Have found it in this posting:

  • If cisco "openh264 video codec" is so great that Mozilla packages it automatically, why is it disabled (Never Activate) as an Add-on?

It seems that every software manufacturer has to write a plethora of little gimmicks into their installation and setup files that loads trash onto my computer. I'm not talking about programs like _Chrome_, that gives me a chance to decline. I'm talking about programs that surreptitiously add basically worthless entries to nearly every accessible niche on the system. And fails to remove anything from the registry upon uninstallation. So, as a matter of operating policy I routinely uninstall programs I never use, turn off services I never use, delete startup entries I never use... (I will not openly admit to my forays into Windows' Registry for fear of being bedeviled by another round of "party policy" alarmisms against it.) Do you get the picture? Hence my question. Before I nuke it too.

hello Stan_Schultz, cisco's openh264 codec would be a part of the browser itself (in order to enable webrtc video conversations), however for licensing purposes mozilla cannot distribute it directly - that's why it is provided in this form as a plugin. i have never seen it disabled by default though...

  • Video streaming stopped working v37.0.1 with OpenH264 Video Codec v1.3

Help. I think the video was working until the last FireFox update sometime last week. Updated the codec plugin and refreshed Firefox, no help. Also tried the recommended settings from the FAQs. Thanks in advance.

Does Firefox display a plugin notification icon in the address bar? It would be to the left of the site address and looks a bit like a small Lego block. If you see such an icon, could you click it and see whether it indicates any plugin issues?
During your last upgrade, do you recall possibly using the Refresh feature? This could come up as a message that Firefox is running slowly and restoring original settings could speed it up. An Old Firefox Data folder would appear on your desktop, with a semi-randomly-named folder inside with a recent modification date. See anything like that?

  • Why is Mozilla doing buisness with Cisco Systems Inc. A known military contractor with the U.S. Department of Defense, and using their Open H264 Video Codec?

A recent update of Firefox included the OpenH264 Video Codec. This software is made by Cisco Systems Inc. They are a known military contractor of the U.S Department of Defense, who helps the U.S. government spy on everyone. Every single piece of software that comes from this company is suspect and should be considered malware and spyware. About a month ago I posted a question asking why Mozilla was doing business with them and asked how to remove it completely from my computer. The only response I got was a bot response explaining how to disable it, which I made clear was not enough. There was no no explanation given as to why they were doing business with a company like Cisco. I'm sure that if more Firefox users were aware of these facts they would be just as concerned as I am. I'm still waiting to hear back from Mozilla on this issue. They apparently consider the issue close. I do not.

Guess I'm royally screwed since my Cable Modem is made by Cisco. Anyway, they are using it to play HTML5 videos encoded in H.264 on operating systems that do not have the codec: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenH264
Might look at this thread for how to get rid of it: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2888681

  • How to uninstall the "default" Firefox plugins?

I installed firefox from the extra repo. Sadly, it came with a bunch of plugins preinstalled (e.g., a Windows and Quicktime plugin). Primary reason I moved to Arch was to be able to install only what I want. This is not conducive to that.
Anybody know how to uninstall the plugins?
I read pacman manual and played around with pacman -Ql and -Qi etc. I also tried looking for some package that contained all the plugins. But I wasn't successful.

  • How to uninstall an unknown addon/plugin/program

A couple of months ago I saw a add on? plug in? which lists the companies (like Doubleclick) that are tracking me as I browse. I installed it and it took over the right part of my screen with a list of trackers. I now would like to get rid of the tracking, but I don't know what it was called. I don't see it under the list of add ons or plug ins, nor in the control panel under the list of installed programs. *4.0.60129.0 listed below is apparently a silverlight plugin
Any idea how to get rid of this thing without remembering its name?

As you suspect, 4.0.60129.0 is the Microsoft Silverlight plugin.
As for the add-on, you appear to be describing the Ghostery extension. For details of how to uninstall it, see the section on uninstalling extensions at https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

Re AppleMan 1958 excellent user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? -
I've followed instructions with success until  "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?
I installed MGEG Streamclip 193b8 and used their utility to install quicktimempeg2 and got a message stating it was successfully installed.  (I'm on latest Maverick 10.9.2 on iMac)  Then I dragged the VIDEO_TS file from my home DVD into the streamclip app.  It asked which of 4 files to use, and I selected the first one.  Streamclip played the video with the sound.  so far so good. but now I cannot figure how to use quicktime player 10.3 to export this vob file out of streamclip.

Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion.  I'm exporting the first section now.  I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie.  I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame?  If it can, what size should I select when I export?

  • How to uninstall java plugin without removing JRE completely

how to uninstall java plugin without removing JRE completely.
Hope someonce can help, all the documentation ive seen till now shows how to uninstall the Java plugin by completely removing the JRE.
Also if you install JRE 1.4.1_01 and do not choose to install the browser plugin on the browers prompted ... does it not install the plugin?

    In IE
Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings -> View Objects
Delete the ActiveX control for the Java Plugin
This removes the ActiveX control (plug-in) from the browser but doesn't delete the JRE.

    Ken Selvidge ([email protected])

I am not a computer savy person.  I just need to plug in and have the machine do what it should do.
Not a problem, but that indicates you have a lot to learn.
File extensions like mpeg, mp4., avi, wmv, etc. are just wrappers. It is like a box the audio or video content is placed inside. The audio and video content must be encoded with a codec before it is placed in the box. There are thousands of codecs. Not all are installed on your Mac. You must have the same codec installed that encoded the video in order to play it. So, while Quicktime does support mpeg wrapper, it may not have the codecs to decode the internal video.
Some programs have lots of the codecs available to them, like VLC, Niceplayer, MPlayerX, etc.
You can also get "plug-ins" for Quicktime that add codecs to Quicktime, like Perian. Although it is no longer being developed, Perian still works well.
Why is it so difficult? Probably because they are always working on ways to compress the video to get better playback.

  • How to transfer to Video codec: AVCHD

I am going to receive video from a videographer supplied in the following:
    Camera - Panasonic HMC150
    Format: 720p 60FPS
Video codec: AVCHD (will need to be transcoded into another format if editing on Final Cut Express HD on the Mac)
How can I transcode this format so that FCE can read it.

Use ClipWrap2 to rewrap the media to QuickTime. Then use MPEG Streamclip to convert it to the Apple Intrrmediate Codec at 29.97fps with uncompressed 48k audio.

  • HT202884 How can I update video codecs for iOS using code ?

In reference to : OS X Mavericks: Some files may be converted when opened in QuickTime Player - Apple Support
Is there a way to update video codecs for iOS, using code ?

You could try finding somewhere with free WiFi like a coffee shop, shopping mall or fast-food places & downloading on their connection.
