How to uninstall ss12u1 on solaris 10: lock file?

hello all,
the process of installation was interrupted, and ss12u1 is partially installed. I want to uninstall it but it's not possible:
fury-root% ./uninstall.sh --non-interactive
Configuring the installer...
Searching for JVM on the system...
Extracting installation data...
Running the installer wizard...
It seems that another instance of the installer is already running.
It is not recomended that you run multiple installers at the same time.
Do you still want to start another instance of the installer?
Going with No (default) option...adding verbose to the script, i notice:
[2010-03-18 08:27:49.358]:     exiting -- org.netbeans.installer.Installer.<init>():128
[2010-03-18 08:27:49.359]:     creating lock file
[2010-03-18 08:27:49.360]:         ... lock file already existsbut where is this lock file?
thanks in advance for help,
gerard

Hello gerard,
The lock file is located in the ~/.nbi directory for the root user. Usually it is /.nbi directory on Solaris, and /root/.nbi on Linux.
It's name is .nbilock

Igor

How to clean the trash forever from locked files?

Depends on what the problem is, but holding down the option key while emptying the trash will bypass the locked status and delete the files.
If those files are still in use (or the Finder thinks so), they cannot be deleted in the normal way. If the option key trick doesn't work, we can use the terminal.

You should simply delete the directory where you installed it.
    Try:
    rm -rf *

  • How to Uninstall Crystal Reports installed via .msi file

    Post Author: epowers0213
    CA Forum: General
    Hello,
We are installing crystal reports on some clustered servers using the CRRedist2005_x86.msi so that a web application which uses Crystal Reports will run properly.  (Visual Studio is not installed on these servers.)
If there is any problem caused by running the CRRedist2005_x86.msi program, how could we back out the installation/uninstall this version of Crystal Reports?  Our server administration group wants me to provide an "uninstall program" just in case running the .msi file causes problems for any of the other applications on the server.  However, I have not been able to find any information on this on the Business Objects web site (apart from some manual uninstall directions).
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance!

XMI is XML with a specified format.
Looking at the XMI format definition for the XML, it doesn't appear if it will automatically be consumed by Crystal.
Crystal expects relational, rather than hierarchial, data - so you'd need to find a way of exposing the data within XMI as a relational dataset.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • How to uninstall mountain lion

    How to uninstall mountain lion?

Backup your files, erase the hard drive, install an earlier version of OS X.
Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

Is there a way to uninstall solaris after i install it? i've had problems with linux before so i'm a little skeptical of any new OS i try.

I've never "uninstalled" an OS (solaris included).
If you want to use the disk for something else, I'd just install your new OS or filesystem or whatever on top of it.

  • How to uninstall Route 66 navigation software from...

I am looking to update my sat nav application, but I looks like I need to uninstall the version that I currently have on the phone.  I looks like it's installed on the phone memory and not on the memory card because when I remove the card, the sat nav still works.
I've looked everywhere and tried everything, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to uninstall this appication.  Any idea?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi mike6221
Apart from loss of data issue, a hard reset by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code) returning device to "out of the box condition" should do the job as N95 does not have User Data Preservation feature and all user installed applications will be deleted.

  • Solaris 9-  lock account if inactive

    Hello,
My question is, In solaris 5.9 how to set a policy that locks any account if it is inactive for more than 60 days?
I know the shadow file does the trick
    " user:$1$xGMpaTdS5TpSPXuHtau/:14005:0:90:14:30::"
The above user account will be locked if it is inactive for more than 30 days but I want to implement that for all users, without having to edit the shadow file.
I dont see how this can be done in the /etc/default/passwd file.
Is there a way to do this?
thanks a lot for any help?

I just figured out today that the Gnome Desktop 2.0 problem is due to some part of Gnome not liking really long home directory paths. Mac OS X by default dictates that home directories be of the form /Network/Servers/(fqdn of file server)/Volumes/(volume name)(home directory share path), for example, /Network/Servers/xxx.myschool.edu/Volumes/Homes/userx. I haven't figured out what in Gnome doesn't like it, but it appears to be the gconf mechanism.
The Mozilla strangeness still is happening though.

I haven't been able to nail down the exact cause, but it seems that Sun's Gnome Destop 2.0 has problems starting up. The 'gconfd-2' process starts and never finishes what it's doing. I'm suspecting a problem with creating a lock file in the user's NFS mounted home directory. My workaround was to disable the Gnome Desktop 2.0 option, but it isn't very pleasant because many of my users liked it.

  • How to Uninstall Leopard Upgrade and go back to Tiger

First, welcome to the Apple boards.
Backup what you have because it probably contains things from the original update you want to keep - network settings, passwords, etc. A bootable clone is your best bet - and test it out.
Then you need to format your HD (full, not quick) with the Leopard DVD and then reboot with the Tiger CD and install it. I am not sure how much you can migrate "downwards" from the Leopard backup, but some things will probably come along OK. Not sure about mail since it was converted by Leopard - will it unconvert? Don't know.
I have read of some who tried to simply install Tiger over Leopard but the results were less than great. You can try it once you have that clone backup, because you won't be losing anything.
I would suggest unplugging the clone during the erase and install process until you get to the migration point.

I have a brand new Leopard based MacBook Pro that I need to revert to its previous cat form of Tiger. Would you mind walking me through it? I have Tiger disks that came with another MacBook Pro so those should have all of the machine specific items I will need. As I understand this, I start the computer from the included Leopard disk and do a full format. (I noticed that there is a new partition style named GUID Partition, is this Leopard only?) Next, I load in my Tiger disks and install from those? I do not need to do any system backups as I have no information on this computer as of yet. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Brian

  • I am trying to connect my new iMac to my Buffalo router.  I forgot my router password, so I reset it and it is working.  I can't figure out how to reset my router password and lock it on my iMac.

I am connecting my new iMac to my Buffalo router.  I forgot my router password so I pushed the reset button and my computer was able to connect.  The problem is, I can't figure out how to set my new password and lock the router.  I went to the Buffalo website and downloaded the CD, as I can't find that either.  I can't open any of it because it says it is Windows and can't open it.  I am new to Apple!

    Ah, new to routers too.
Perhaps it's best to have a local computer support person come set you up?
To explain everything would require writing a book here.
But this is what you want basically.
Router, new Wireless N, firmware updated.
1: Two accounts, one admin, one guest Internet access. Random +30 plus character lenght passwords each preferred.
(guest password to max password length of any iDevices)
2: Encryption: WPA2 AES. No Ping. No remote access. No MAC filtering. Visible.
3: Guest access on devices and computers only.  Passwords written down and stored.
4: OpenDNS preferred but not mandatory.
If you get OpenDNS, you can log into their website for free and set parental controls on things like inappropriate sites for children. So whatever device is used on your network can't access a large portion of those sites (nothing is perfect) by most users who are not technical oriented.
What your doing now is running the bare bones unsecure router which can be used harmfully against you.
Even a Apple Airport router has to be very well secured. The defautl cd and out of the box setup is not a secure solution.

  • How can I get the screen to lock on my iPhone 4, so I don't press buttons while talking?

I just upgraded to the iPhone 4.  When I am talking on the phone, the screen doesn't lock, so I am constantly pressing buttons or hanging up on the person I'm talking to.  How can I get the screen to lock while I'm talking?  It's driving me NUTS.

The otterbox is one of the culprits. Take the phone out of the case and see if it still happens. If so it is not the case. If the problem goes away, then you may need to make the hole slightly larger. My family has three iPhone 4's in otterboxes and none have this problem. Other users on this forum have reported success with the above methods.

This is your husband's app, only your husband can update it. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that purchased them. No other Apple ID can update someone else's app.

It would be easier to just fix whatever is making your machine slow.
