How can I turn off "Find My iPad" to restore to factory settings if screen is not working?  I can't get access to the apps on my mini pad.  I can see the device when I'm in iTunes.

Try resetting the iPad by holding the home and power keys down until the Apple logo appears.

Can someone please tell me how to use iCloud to find my iPad and lock it out as well?

Simple I was led to believe I could store stuff in iCloud without the need for a Mac thereby making space on my laptop. You live and learn.
You can, iPhones/iPads and Macs work, as do PC's once there is an open account.
This is typical Apple to be honest. The only reason I use iTunes is for my iPod. Perhaps I need to find another mp3 player.
You do not need iCloud for iTunes, I am sorry that you misunderstand but iCloud and iTunes do not require each other.
I'm certainly not paying the inflated prices that Apple charge for their laptops that are quite frankly no better than my Dell.
I've had Dells, they are worth what you pay, no more.

Need help to find location of iPad using find my iPad app.. Sound was activated this morning but it won't give me the location.. How can I find it??

    Hello there Kylie,
It sounds like your iPad is not showing in Find my iPad when you check it. Take a look at this info from the following article named:
iCloud: Troubleshooting Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4006
Device does not appear in Find My iPhone
    This can occur if:
The date on your device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch) is incorrect. Choose Settings > General > Date & Time to check and set the date.
Your device is not up-to-date. It needs to be running iOS 5 or later.
Your iCloud account is not configured on your device. Choose Settings > iCloud and enter your iCloud account information.
You have multiple iCloud accounts entered on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Only one account can have Find My iPhone turned on at a given time. Log in to Find My iPhone with your other iCloud accounts until your device is listed.
There's a scheduled maintenance or another issue affecting Find My iPhone. Check the System Status site to see if this is the case.
Your device has lost network connectivity. If you have access to your device, and it appears to have an active Internet connection, enable and then disable Airplane mode. If you continue to have issues, turn the device off and back on.
Find My Mac can only locate your Mac if it is connected to the Internet via a known Wi-Fi network. If your Mac is connected to the Internet only by an Ethernet cable, Find My Mac will not be able to locate your Mac.
Device appears in Find My iPhone, but is offlineThis can occur if:
Your device is powered off, such as when the battery has run out. Note that the remaining battery for the device, if it's connected to the Internet, displays in the upper-right corner of the information pane of the selected device. You can still play a sound on, send a message to, issue a lock request, or initiate an erase of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The command will be received after the device is turned on and regains its Internet connection.
Your iPhone’s cellular service has been terminated by your wireless service provider. If you contacted your service provider to report your device lost or stolen before locating your phone, and they deactivated your SIM card or account, this would be expected. If this is the case, you may no longer be able to locate, display a message on, or erase your iPhone. For more information, read about what to do if your device is lost or stolen.
Your iPad, iPod Touch, or Mac is asleep and not connected to a known Wi-Fi network. You will still be able to request an erase, send a message to display and lock your device, or request that a sound be played. The command will be processed when your device is awakened and connected to the Internet.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Can't get the iPad in Find my iPad

Can't get the iPad in Find my iPad, cause I didn't turn on iCloud. What can I do now? I have the serial ID.By the way, I lost my iPad

All you can do is physically look for it.  You had to have enabled Find My iPad on it before it was lost in order to track it.  You also might want to read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5668.

  • Help re restore ipad and 'find my ipad'.

I can't do anhthing with the ipad as it won't open beyond saying connecting to itunes and then error message as above on PC
    HELP!!

    Hi,
A remote wipe resets to factory settings.
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/find-my-ipad.html
Setting a Passcode lock would have prevented anyone from using your iPad.
If you had a message setup on the iPad to return the iPad and you wiped it, that message is gone.
It states clearly here: "I understand that I cannot undo or stop this action".
It's hard to think straight when something like that happens and it's understandable, and hopefully you'll get your iPad back. I would definitely file a police report. Hopefully you had the serial number wirtten down and saved in a safe place for identification purposes.

  • How do I Find My Ipad?  I have it turned on in the Cloud settings.  But now what do I do?  How do I get this Find My Ipad software onto my PC computer?  How do I actually use it?  Thank you.  Linda

I have followed the directions - and have downloaded Find My Ipad from Apple Store onto my Ipad2 and enabled the Find My Ipad in the Cloud settings.  Now what do I do?  No where does it tell me!  Not in the user guide, nor any of the help pages.  I think I need to put the Find My Ipad in the Cloud - but does this mean in the dropbox?  and if so, how do I do that?  I tried to drop and drag but it would not do that.  I would think I would need to have it on my PC Windows 7 but I cannot figure out how to download the software.  Please help.  Thank you.

Also, the iPad User Guide is in the bookmarks in Safari on your iPad. It contains the information you're looking for ad much more?

  • How can i turn off Find My iPad without using the iPad?

My swipe screen has stopped working completely on my iPad. Very disappointing as it is only 18 months old and has been well looked after! I have tried holding down the off/on button and menu button to reboot but this doesn't work. I have now logged the fault with Apple and have an appointment to see someone in the support team this Monday. However, I wanted to try one more thing. I want to restore to factory settings as I've read that this could resolve the problem. When I plug it in to iTunes and try to restore iPad i get a warning message telling me I need to go to iCloud settings on my iPad and turn off Find My iPad before restoring. As I cannot use the iPad I cant do it from there. Is there another way? Please help me, I want to weep!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE (this will disable Find My iPhone)
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • How can I enable the "find my ipad" button in the icloud screen?

I have had my Ipad mini for about a year but never thought to enable the "find my ipad" feature.  When I go into the icloud screen under settings it gives me lot of options but the "find my ipad" button appears in light grey font and won't allow me to turn it on.  It is the only feature on this page that I can't change.  Any ideas?

You must have a valid Apple ID installed, and a valid iCloud account.  Check your iCloud account information and see that it matches your Apple ID.

  • HT201472 I tried to find my iPad through find my iPad device on my iPhone It says device is offline I am also given option to lock the iPad ZIf I do that will I be able to find the device? Will it need to go online  and not do so once I lock it in lost mo

I am trying to find my lost iPad using my iPhone and the findmyipad application
My iPad is listed but cannot be located now because it is not connected to Internet
I have option to lock the iPad in lost mode If I do that I fear that will make it impossible for the iPad to go online and thus Renee the application to find it useless Please advise

You cannot lock or find the device until it comes online. You can schedule a lock sequence to be sent once the device is online. That's it. Furthermore, if whoever finds the device completely erases it, then even when it comes online you will not be able to track it.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • Missing an ipad and find my ipad is turned off

Hello.  I have a customer who misplaced one of his iPads in his huge house.  I logged onto the router and found that it was still connected to the network.  I could see the IP and MAC addresses, but can't pinpoint its location in the house.  Unfortunately, Find My iPad is not turned on on that particular iPad, otherwise I would've paged it and followed the chirping.  We've looked all over the house, but to no avail.
We've looked into MetaGeek's InSSIDer and Chanalyzer, but can't justify spending over $2k on resolving this issue.  Is there a way to track hone in on the device's location either through Windows CMD network commands or Apple services?  I've tried using tracert and ping commands here at the office, but the results just seem to sporadic and unreliable.  The customer has several AirPort base stations throughout the house if that helps at all.
    Thanks for your help.

I take it the sound has been muted? Otherwise you could FaceTime call it, text it, or email it and follow the noise.

  • Can I get the IP address of my stolen iPad through find my iPad?

Hi. My iPad was very recently stolen when my house was burglarized. I have find my iPad turned on and marked the device as lost. Earlier, the iPad was located and the general location was sent to me. Unfortunately, the person who stole it turned it back off as soon as they saw that it was remotely locked (this is a huge problem to me, as a remotely locked device shouldn't be able to be so easily switched off). I told the police where it was located, but it wasn't on long enough to give me an exact location. So, they will not issue a warrant because it could be in one of about 4-5 houses.
Does anyone know of a way I can get the ip address that was used when the device reported it's location via find my iPad? If I have that, then we can get a warrant and get the police to look for it. It seems like this should be available, as the device was marked as lost under find my iPad. I just can't seem to find the info anywhere on the site.
If you have any advice, please help.

You don't need to know the remote IP if you have your PPP setup correctly. Check this site out.

  • IPad disabled, find my ipad offline - why?

My son managed to set a passcode on his restricted ipad and then forgot what it was, after 6 attempts the ipad is disabled as it should be. This happened at school. When he brought it home for me to fix, it wouldnt connect to the home wifi so therefore the find my ipad wouldnt work - why is this? I left it at home for hours and tried to locate it using find my ipad many times but it wouldnt locate. On the disabled ipad screen I could see there was no wifi connection, but all of the other devices in the house were connected to wifi no problem.
Just wondering if this is because of any restrictions set? (find my ipad is enabled, location services is enabled but both restricted from being turned off)
    Thanks in advance,
    Barry

Thank you!  I had not uncovered the hold and plugin bit yet.  Now if only they wouldn't force me to update the operating system, not sure my older tech can handle more updates... wish I could just keep it back in time when it wasn't so sluggish.  I the upgrades insure compatibility but at this point with this old girl I'd be happy if she was simple and ran smoothly.  I don't need her to do a lot.
Also I meant to click "solved my problem" but goofed, is there a way to switch once clicked? New to apple communities.
