  • How to sync IPhone without losing data?

I have not gotten a new computer.
I haven't used iTunes for the computer in a long time. Probably about a year or two. On iTunes on my pc, I have 99 songs. On my iphone, I have 237. Once before, I tried to sync my itunes and iphone but it erased my songs and filled my entire playlist with a bunch of songs nobody has ever heard of. I was stuck with a bunch of songs I never wanted, and lost my old ones. I had taken my phone to the apple store where they fixed it, and I haven't used itunes since. I have obviously purchased alot of songs since then and I want to update my itunes library so they are all in there because I am supposed to be getting a new phone soon. But I'm afraid that I will end up losing some sort of data in the process, and I do not use the icloud or anything since I find it rather confusing. I don't want to lose hundreds of dollars in music because of a computer program.
I also have CD's that I've downloaded to my computer and want to put into my itunes library then upload the new music to my phone, but yet I am still scared to do anything with the chance I may lose my songs. I feel if I try to sync, my iphone will take the 99 songs from my pc and then the other 138 songs will be long lost.
How do I sync without losing any content?

If there is media content on the device that isn't in your library see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
The user tip includes a link to a backup tip which you should use to make sure that you can recover your library in the event of a problem.

  • Bought a new macbook air because my old computer is formatted. I want to sync my iphone to my new mac, so I can save the data on my iphone without losing data. how can I do?

bought a new macbook air because my old computer is formatted. I want to sync my iphone to my new mac, so I can save the data on my iphone without losing data. how can I do?

You need to copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  it simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

  • HT1212 How to reset password without losing data

Hi apple community, How do I restore an Ipod without losing data that hasn't been backed up? The photos in question were dowloaded onto the ipod from a digital camera via itunes. After downloading the computer crashed and all data was irretrievably lost.I wonder, if I reset to factory settings, will I lose all those photos? Thanks. Even before my daughter forgot her password it wouldn't let me transfer the photos from the ipod back onto the computer. I hope someone can help! Thanks.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

  • How to unlock iphone without simcard by itunes

    HI friends,
I would like to know how to unlock iphone4s without a simcard in it..

Unlock from wireless provider? Only the wireless provider to which an iPhone
is locked can unlock it. Contact them to see if they offer unlocking and if you
    qualify.
Or unlock because you forgot password?
Forgotten passcode or disabled because entered incorrect passcode too many times:

  • How do I sync without losing data on new install

History: Win Xp, itunes 9.2 worked fine. new apps - all fine
Then I put windows 7 on new partition, download itunes - seems better.
Question / Problem:I try to sync apps. itunes warns iphone apps and data will be erased on this iphone. It is the same iphone, but new itunes on new partition and new OS (windows 7) doesn't seem to know that somehow. How can I keep my apps and their data? I don't know how to get to itunes backups or data on the old xp partition.

    Welcome to the discussions,
here's how to back up manually to save your data:
Set up your iTunes account and authorize your computer, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases this time, to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • We have 3 iPads and 2 iPhones, how do we sync without losing data?

If this message appears twice, apologies, as it disappeared just as I was about to submit (so may have gone, or may not...)
    Hi,
    Help for apple Luddite, please.
I have an ipad2, iPhone 4S, my eldest son has an ipad2 and iPhone 3GS, and my youngest son has an ipad2.
They are all on my account.
Now, my address book keeps disappearing and being replaced by that of my eldest son, and my iMessages can sometimes be seen by either of my sons.
Can we set up separate contact books and iMessage accounts but still share photos, music, video and apps?
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Peter

how can i unlock my iphone 5s without a computer?

No matter what kind of unlocking you mean you cannot do it without a computer.
Carrier unlock can only be done by the carrier it is locked to.
If the screen is locked you also need a computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212

  • How to unlock Touch without loosing data.

Have not sync'ed ipod touch in some time.  Daugther changed passcode and has forgotten what it is.  How can I reset passcode without loosing all the data added since my last sync with Itunes on my laptop.  From everything i have read it appears the only option is to re-sync or restore and both options will remove all the games, app's and data on her device.  Are there any other options.

Does it back up while charging via iCloud?
    Otherwise, no, sorry.
Would you like me to be the bad guy?
"Young lady, you had permission to use my iPod! but when someone loans you something you must return it in the same condition or you will not be allowed to use it again"
If she is too young to understand that, then she is too young to touch the iPod.
Good luck, sorry about your contents.

Then you will lose ALL of the data on your phone. The only way for you to remove a forgotten passcode is to either login to iCloud.com, locate the phone, then erase it, or force it into recovery mode & restore it. In you case, you'll be restoring as a new device.

  • New Computer: How to transfer apps without losing data & in-app purchases?

I just bought a new MacBook. I've moved everything from my old PC to the MacBook, but now that I hook up my iPhone, iTunes is telling me that to sync my apps with the new MacBook will mean replacing all app data on my iPhone with data from the computer. Will this erase my data such as finished levels or high scores in game apps? More importantly, will I lose my in-app purchases? Please help! Thanks.
(I tried the Search function but could not find anything.)

Do File > Transfer Purchases. All of your in app purchases will be transferred over. It should also back up the data.

  • I need to unlock iPhone without losing the information.

    Hi Apple Support Community
I have an iPhone Locked by typing a wrong combination many times. This was done by a suspect of the crime of a family member, I have all the receipts with the IMEI of the phone.
Do I need a legal document to validate this? We think there are important clues inside the phone.
Please tell me what Apple needs to follow the procedure, this is very very important for the case.
    Thank you!

Use this article:  Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
There is no other procedure.  The entire purpose of the passcode is to protect the personal user information.
It's irrelevant who bought the device.  Buying the device is not proof of ownership of the private data on the device.
For example, I buy my wife an iPhone.  She uses it and creates a passcode.  I do not have  legal right to her personal information.  I may own the device, and if I want, I can wipe it and restore it as new and use the device itself.  But the personal information is just that; her personal information.
Apple will not violate an individual's privacy, and you're not going to get any kind of document or court order to change that.
