How to Unlock my Iphone 4 and 4s after updating to iOS6

Few months back I purchased 2 Iphone from USA for the usage of my kids in Norway. Few days back updation came and after that both phones are lock. I am living in Norway and need the help to open them. Please help me in this regards

The only way to unlock them is to contact the network to which they are locked, and ask what their unlocking process is.

No. There is no way to legitimately unlock a phone locked to Softbank.

I have followed the instructions on the apple support pages and still cannot get my phone to work. It continues to show the iTunes USB picture and is not recognised on my iTunes on the windows PC. When I connect the phone to my iMac it shows no data and says I can restore to factory setting. However if I do this will all my data be erased? How do I get my phone and data back? I have saved most of the photos that were on the phone but all my contact details and messages are stored and I really need to get them back! Would have limited memory on the phone when trying to update caused this problem?

Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!

I have the iPhone 3gs. Any reason NOT to update to iOS6? I've heard there were glitches.
The iOS 6 is great, but really is there some issues with some people. This is your choice, but i would suggest to update only when the new version of the iOS 6 (probably the 6.0.1) comes out.

Find the .IPSW file that was downloaded and delete it, then re-download it.
If you're using a PC, shut off your antivirus and firewall software during the process. -

It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking. -

If you forget your passcode there is only one way to remedy the situation.
Put your phone in recovery mode and restore the device using iTunes.

hi! i went to go slide the thing to unlock my iphone 4 and it wouldnt slide, it froze up and everything is not working. i tried plugging it in but it is still frozen and nothing will work. how do i fix this?
My recommendation is to restart the iPhone. All you do is hold down the top button and hold down the home button for 5 seconds untill it automatically shuts down. Then click the top button untill you see a grey apple on your screen.

You are completely out of luck then. Sprint requires you to have service with them and maintain an account in good standing for something like 90 days after which they will unlock it.
