How do I remotely unlock an iPad using the Find My Phone app from my iPhone once the iPad is connect to WiFi?

I'm not sure about the apps, but to prevent theft, you'll also need to disable the power button and the ability to restore the ipad. You might also want to superglue in your Sim card because if they remove that, it wont be tracked unless they connect to WiFi.
Also, I'm not so sure it is an app on the iPad. I think it is built into the mail, calendar and contacts options if you have a Mobile me account.  http://www.apple.com/ipad/find-my-ipad-setup/

  • HT1414 How can I unlock my at&t iphone 4s once I have the approval from at&t?

Just got approval for Iphone unlock from at&t, it was verified at their site by entering serial number and request code.
I opened Itunes and upgraded to latest version, did the same with iphone.
I then did a back up and a full restore on my iphone.  I did this with my old att sim inside, with my new h20 sim, without a sim to no avail.
I am frustrated and about to give up on this unlocking!  please help!
    Steps were:
    1- update
    2- backup
    3- restore to factory settings
4- backup restore (tried backup restore to "new" and to old backup with same results)
5- sit back and get frustrated, stay up till 4am and still got frustrated!  at this time I was supposed to have seen the "congratulations your phone is unlocked' message but it never showed up.
How can i tell if this is working?  I have tried iphoneadmin.com and it keeps showing that is locked!
Is anyone at att or apple working on this problem?

It can take several days after getting approval before the unlock is ready to be processed. If you just got the approval, give it a few days, then try the restore again.

  • How do I unlock an old iphone which isn't now associated to my account?

I have given my old iphone to my niece and it needs to be unlocked so she can put another providers sim in it. The only option on the website is for my current hand set and not my old one, I have tried ringing technical support but was waiting to get through for 45 mins before they closed - how do I do this?

It costs £8.99 to unlock a device from EE there are a number of options that you might be able to use to get your device unlocked.
    But first this.
Only contract devices have to be used for 6 months first before requesting a unlock. PAYG, Sim only or secondhand devices this rule doesn't apply.
1, If you still with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the unlocking request form with your details. Any phone that was replaced by insurance you will need to let EE know that it was a replacement device if your still in contract. You can also unlock an old device if you have a upgrade device on your account just fill out the request form with your details and the phone number you used with this device. It doesn't matter if you use this number on a new device now.
2, If you already have an account with EE and you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device lock to EE and you would like it unlocked you just need to use your Sim card in the device so the IMEI number gets registered to your account. Once your account has the IMEI number on it you can the fill out the online unlock request form.
3, If you have brought/been given a 2nd hand device and don't have a EE/Orange/T-Mobile account and you don't want to use the EE networks you need to get a PAYG SIM card and set up an account. Top-up the account to £8.99 to pay the unlock fee than fill out the online unlock request form.
(If using a PAYG you must make sure that the £8.99 is on your account when EE take the payment if it's not your device will not get unlocked and EE will not inform you that the unlock request has failed. It's you job to make sure the cedit is there when EE go to take it they will not inform you when there going to take it)
    Or
4, A non EE customer can take the device to your local EE store and request the unlock from there it will still cost £8.99 and it still takes 7 to 10 days
5, If you would like a device unlocked and you are no longer with EE/Orange/T-Mobile just fill out the online unlock request form using the number that you used with that device on EE/Orange/T-Mobile. EE will unlock devices that are up to 10 years old that were used on their network. You will still be billed to unlock the device.
6, If you have brought or thinking about buying a 2nd hand device and you are not in the UK you are going to find it very hard to get a device unlocked when you setup an account you need a UK address also you will need to get a PAYG SIM card but you will also need to find away of topping up the account with GBP, if you can not do any of this the device will not get unlocked there are no exceptions.
Click here for the online unlock request form

  • Keeping an unlocked 3GS and new iPhone 5 on same iTunes, what/how can apps be shared if not using iCloud?

I have researched having two phones on the same account and keeping apps/music/contacts/etc.separate, but have not yet found a thread specific to NOT keeping everything separate but the same across phones; should be pretty simple, but simple sometimes isn't. Thanks in advance for your input!
My husband and I are electing to keep our 3GS' (unlocked) so when we travel internationally we can pop a sim in from the country we are in, mainly for data. (In one country we can get 500MB for 10 Euros versus the $25/100MB my carrier will charge with the iPhone 5.) At least that is what we hope...
    Couple questions:
    1. Once the cell number/service on the 3GS is transfered to the 5, the 3S will become basically an iPod touch until a new sim is in place, correct? We can still use wi-fi and the apps on the phone, and still be able to sync to iTunes, correct? iOS has been upgraded to 6.
1a. With a new Sim, any issue with losing any data/apps on the phone? I dont' think so.
    2. Once the 5 is activated on the new carrier, how do I share the apps within iTunes? Is it as easy as using iCloud (which we haven't "activated" yet) and/or plugging both phones into iTunes and transferring between devices (authorizing both)? Photos? There are photos on the 3S that we will need on the 5.
    3. Reverse order for new apps purchased (understand that not all the iphone 5 apps will work on the 3GS)?
    4. My husband also has a new iPad, any complications there with three devices? To date, he has not "shared" apps between his 3S and the iPad. He does not have iCloud set up, but plugs into his computer to backup and transfer photos.
Agian, thanks for your thoughts and any tips you can give me. Over the last three years with the 3GS, I have had to rebuild my phone twice and while most of the items were recovered, I am leery of throwing the 5 into the mix!

    1. Yes. without a sim it has no service, but all other features should be useable normally.
1.a Nope, Data and Apps are independent of the Sim.
    2. As long as both Phones use the same Apple ID, the applications can be synced to each through iTunes. Also any downloads on one phone should appear in the other. Again as long as both phones are using the same Apple ID.
    3. Reverse order for new apps purchased (understand that not all the iphone 5 apps will work on the 3GS)?
    3. If they can be run on the iPhone3GS they should be synced automatically.
    4. My husband also has a new iPad, any complications there with three devices? To date, he has not "shared" apps between his 3S and the iPad. He does not have iCloud set up, but plugs into his computer to backup and transfer photos.
    4. If all 3 Devices share the same Apple ID all should be synced.
As a word of warning, if all 3 devices use the same Apple ID, messages recieved using iMessage will appear on all 3 devices.
And Conctacts may get overwritten if synced to iCloud (thogh you say he doesn't have one), or merged together.

  • How can I unlock an iPhone 4 without iTunes account information?

My daughter's iPhone 4 is registered on my Verizon account and I am the account manager.  When she got it she set it up through her own iTunes account. I have taken her phone from her as punishment and want to access the information on the phone without her knowing.  I entered the wrong unlock code too many times and it is now disabled and there is a message on the front that it must be connected to the iTunes account. How can I reset/unlock the phone while preserving the information that is currently on it?  I hunted and pecked through the Verizon site and can't find anything.  I thought since I am the account manager I could easily unlock it - - apparently not.

        Hi madisonsb,
Just so you know, once the code has been put in incorrectly many times, to prevent unauthorized access, the phone will lock itself up and can only be restored by erasing the information and setting the phone back up. If there is a back up on iTunes it will restore everything back to the phone, but keep in mind this will also restore the old lock code used as well. So it's either erase everything and set it up as new, or erase everything and restore with the old lock code.
Being an account manager gives you access to the Verizon Wireless account to make plan changes or upgrade phones, not gain access into information on a device. The information on a device is always considered private and we wouldn't even have access to it in any way, shape, or form.

  • How do I get a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS out of (connect to iTunes) mode?

How do I get a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS out of recovery (connect to itunes) mode?
Once the iPhone 3GS is in DFU mode and plugged into iTunes, the restore and update process begins. The restores process are as followed:
Extracting software > Preparing iPhone for restore (blank screen) > Preparing iPhone software for restore > Restoring iPhone software > Verifying iPhone restore > Restoring iPhone firmware > The iPhone cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (1).
I clicked on the more information tab and was taken to a website with some troubleshooting. I did what they suggested (based on the error #) and still no luck. I’ve tried to restore and update about 10 times now but the same message keeps coming up at the end. What should I do now?
P.S: I have the latest version of iTunes (11), my windows is up to date etc ...

This Error message is indicative of a Hardware issue. The device may need Service.

  • My phone was run over. It still works but the screen is smashed and I cannot unlock the phone from find my iphone. How can I unlock the phone so I can save my photos?  It was not backed up in iCloud. I

My phone was run over. It still works enough to see some of the screen but not the number pad. I cannot unlock the phone because I activated find my iphone. How can I unlock the phone so I can save my photos? Is there a way to unlock it from find my iphone. It was not backed up in iCloud. When I plug it into my computer, the computer tells me that I have to unlock it first. Help?

No I haven't synced my iPhone with the computer I'm currently using. The computer that I normally sync my iPhone with is being repaired.
I read a nearly identical question to mine (in which you answered) and I found my the answer. Thanks!
Now I have a few more questions: If I mail my broken iPhone to Asurion, will I be able to get my data off of my iPhone once Asurion has it? And what will happen to my old iPhone and the data on it if I activate my replacement iPhone? Will my broken iPhone just become de-activated and will the data be erased or lost or something? Could I still sync it (with the computer ir originally synced with) and back up the data?
    Thanks.

  • HT4946 how do i unlock my iPhone when its locked in the itune plug in mode?

how do I unlock my iPhone when it is in the itune locked mode for updates, i powered out when i was updating

Unfortunately once the iPhone is in that mode the best practice is to just restore the whole iPhone via iTunes.
The iPhone is in recovery mode. So to get it out of recovery mode and restore through iTunes is all you got to do.
    Hope this helps

  • How to unlock iPhone 4S for use in Norway...

I've been researching various wifi and/or calling options while we are in Norway for a couple weeks.  My husband and I each have an iPhone 4S's....our service is through Verizon.....but we'll probably only try and convert one phone.   I've learned I can call Verizon and they'll unlock the phone, then I can insert a mini SIM I buy in Norway.  Also, I'm familiar with how to open the SIM tray, etc.
BUT that's where I get lost.  Although the Internet is full of how-to videos and websites, I'm not finding clear cut answers.  I'll list my questions below in hopes than one of you out there can answer some or all of them.
1).  Once unlocked, what happens to my stored information with Verizon?  IE:  Contact list, past voicemails and texts?  I realize they won't show up with a foreign SIM card, but will the old information be wiped clean or still on the Verizon SIM card when I get back to the states and re-insert it back into the iPhone?
    2)  Can I actually reinsert the original Verizon Sim card back into the phone when I get home then simply call Verizon to re-activate my service again?
    3)  When buying a SIM card in Norway, what am I looking for?  (other than a mini card)....But what phone company is good.....what type of service?  HOw does it all work.  Will it give me wifi....or simply 3G or some other connection for calling the United States.  This is where I get lost.  I simply don't understand how cell phones work and how much we should expect to pay per minute.
    4)  Can we text using a Norwegian SIM card in an American iPhone 4S?
    5)  What telephone number is used when people back home try to call us....and do they pay anything?  We certainly don't want our loved ones paying to contact us!
I think that's it for now....
    HELP anyone?
    Thanks,
    Sheree

    1) the new sim card does not wipe the phone clean, just changes the service. Your contacts, etc... I would think are still there. Voicemail may be a different story since with the different sim, you would have a new phone number.
2)Your Verizon service has not been de-activated by replacing the sim card with 1 from Norway. You should just be able to re-insert your Verizon sim when you get home and everything will be normal.
4)Yes, but it will be from the Norwegian number associated with your new card. You will be paying international rates to text to the US.
5)The sim you purchase in Norway will have its own number associated with it. They would have to call THAT number to reach your phone when that SIM is installed. Yes, they will be paying international rates when they call you and you would be paying international rates when you call them.
I agree with rcschnoor comments in the main, just not sure about 1.   Many pure GSM phones store all contacts on the SIM card (so they go with you when you move the SIM to another phone), potentially with an option to store on the phone, whereas Verizon phones without a SIM card store contacts on the phone (as there is no alternative!).  Probably the iPhone 4 stores on the phone.  But in either case, once you put the Verizon sim back in, your contacts will be there.
The other point about 4 and 5: yes, you will pay international rates, but with a good SIM these can be very cheap.  (e.g. 6 cents a min from UK to US, versus Verizon's rates of $1.19 per min, don't know about Norway.)
Also, there is cost/convenience trade off:
    1) You can activate your Verizon/Vodaphone SIM:  This is the most expensive option, but allows you to keep your old number.  Friends can call you as they do now.
    2) You can buy a local SIM.  This is the cheapest option, you will get a new number that you will need to communicate to people, and they will pay to call you.  You also need to purchase it there, which may or may not be a hassle!
    3) You can buy a local SIM before you leave, from a company such as: http://www.onesimcard.com/cell-phone-rates/norway/
This is more expensive that 2, but you a) have a number before you leave, b) you don't need to buy it after a long plane ride in a foreign country, and c) these services allow you to select a US number for your friends to call so no extra charges for them, and some services allow you to forward your current number, so for your callers nothing changes.  Also you can see all the costs, instead of trying to work out what to get when you are at a store in Norway!
That said, I always go with option 2, but your weighting might be different.  The page I gave indicates some of the major carriers, you have to decide how much calling and data you will be using, and for two weeks only you probably want a pay as you go option rather than any longer contract.
    Hope that helps.

  • HT4993 i have i iphone 5 sprint but i cant use in my country how can factory unlock.

i have i phone 5 from usa sprint i cant use in my country how can factry unlock.

    Hello there, Parbati.
Unlocking can only be performed by your Carrier (Sprint). Apple has a good resource page that should help you find out if that option is available for your area:
    iPhone: About unlocking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5014
The following is great information to use as a guideline:
Follow these instructions to unlock your iPhone:
Check if your carrier offers unlocking. Only your carrier can unlock your iPhone.
Contact your carrier and request an unlock. You may need to meet certain requirements to qualify for unlocking. This may take up to seven days.
Once you receive confirmation that your iPhone unlock has been processed, back up your iPhone.
Erase the contents of your iPhone.
Complete the setup assistant and restore your backup.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities for answers to your question.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

how can i unlock my disable iphone 4 and keep my pictures?

The only way to accomplish that would be to remember your passcode. However, once the device goes to disable, then your only choice is to restore the phone to remove the passcode. See the instructions in this support document. Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

I can not remember my code to unlock my phone.  In itunes it tells me to turn off "locate my iphone".  How do I turn that off?

Is Find My Phone turned on?
You'll have to login to iCloud.com, from any computer, locate, then erase your phone. Once done, restore from backup, if you have one.
That's the only way for you to fix this.
