How to unpair bluetooth headset during charging

I have an old Jabra BT500 and a iphone4.  One thing I really like is that the Jabra BT500 unpairs while it is charging.  But the sound quality was ok.  So I recently upgraded to the Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and discovered the new headset doesn't unpair while charging, it is always connected.
I also tried another headset and had the same issue.  I'm wondering if the newer headset has this new default behavior.
Any ways to get the original behavior or is this a specific issue with the Voyager?

Yes, all headsets do disconnect if you manually unpair or turn off bluetooth.  But I want this automated.
With the BT500, I have this scenario
BT500 paired with iPhone 4 and working properly
After I'm done using it, I connect BT500 to the power plug for recharging
BT500 automatically unpairs (.ie no bluetooth connection).  This also saves battery on the iPhone.
If I need to use the BT500 again, I unplug the power and the BT500 automatically pairs and reconnect.
With the Voyager Pro+ (and another newer headset), #3 doesn't work.  It doesn't automatically disconnect.

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset Stops charging.

There is a reported problem regarding a small electrical shock that users are getting when they use the MACBOOK Pro plugged in using the Apple supplied two prong electrical adapter. I have experienced this first hand.
I have had to replace three bluetooth headsets after charging them thru the USB with the MACBOOK Pro ungrounded.
Is it possible that because the power cord is ungrounded that it is shorting out the Bluetooth Headset?

I dunno, but I would take your MBP and it's power supply to an Apple Store if you have one handy. Let the Genii check it out.

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset not charging correctly on Dual Dock?

    Hey guys,
I've been using my bluetooth headset for about 6 months now. I charge my headset on the included dual dock, and it's very cool because it shows the battery level on my iPhone's screen. However, it doesn't seem to charge the headset correctly.
When my headset is almost completely drained of power, and I plug the headset into the dual dock to charge, it would show it to be almost fully charged just a few minutes later. Then I when pick up the headset and re-insert it, it would start charging from a very low point again.
I wanted to see if it was just the indicator's problem, so I left the headset on the dock overnight. Still, in the morning, unplug and re-insert would make it charge again, from a low battery state.
Is the headset or dock broken? Or is this just how bad the battery is?

Yeah, this happens to me to. I found out a quick fix though that seems to work. I select the "Settings" widget; then select the "General" tab; then I re-select the Bluetooth tab (obviously, we have it all set to "ON".) By re-selecting the Bluetooth tab, the phone then seems to look for the headset. Sometimes I might have to press the button on the headset once while I'm in this section of the screen. It then finds it.
But like the rest of you, I first press the button multiple times on my headset. If it doesn't pair by the second time I press that button, I then do the above stuff. But, yes, I agree with you all its really annoying when the headset and phone loses its pairing.....

  • Anyone know how to fix Bluetooth headset not working properly after iOS 8 update?

I have an iPhone 5S and I use a Plantronics PLT M20 model bluetooth headset. I am no longer able to answer calls by pressing the button on the headset, since updating to iOS 8. I also also cannot end calls by pressing the button on the headset. This only happened after iOS 8. The Apple Care rep stated that "this is most likely a problem with the bluetooth manufacturer and they need to update their firmware, so now it's just a waiting game until they do that". Is that correct? Anyone encountering this?

Hi - I'm a student with disabilities and rely heavily on accessibility features that make my life easier. For example, I use a Bluetooth headset to trying answer phone calls and use Siri… I especially use the "Raise to speak" option for accessing Siri. Since updating my iPhone five us and my iPad air, I've been scrambling to access the "raise to speak" option for Siri without success. When I called AppleCare, the representative stated I should have that option to enable in my settings. When I explained to her that the option is not showing, she wanted me to reset my phone to factory settings. When I told her I googled the issue and found that it may have been removed in iOS 8… She put me on hold, Came back and told me I was right.
What's worse is that that my Bluetooth headset is no longer working with my iPhone 5S. She stated that it may being I needed adjustment from the manufacturer of the headset– Plantronics. All I know is that the apple care representatives seem confused and I am extremely disappointed in this really impacts my use of Siri and my phone.
When I asked her to submit feedback to her supervisor or the powers that be… I was simply asked to submit feedback to the Apple.com website. While I understand Apple might read that feedback, I also recognize that they don't reply and I don't feel that is great support to someone like me who has a disability and needs a solution. The"Hey Siri" option is not working for me.
Does anyone have any workarounds for the "Raise to speak" problem or the Bluetooth problem? Specifically, the Bluetooth issue is when I try to hit the button on my Bluetooth headset to answer a call or end the call. It's a Plantronics PLT M20 model.

Follow-up to my earlier post that iPhone 6 Bluetooth not working correctly.  I purchased a Jawbone MiniJambox to use as a speaker phone in my office.  Everyone in our company thinks they are the best.  However, it is experiencing the same issues as with all my other Bluetooth headsets.  Everything works except cannot answer or hang up calls pushing the buttons on the Bluetooth devices.  The Bluetooth patio speakers in our courtyard also have the same issue.  However, my colleagues using iPhone 5 and 5s who did not update to iOS8 are using all Bluetooth devices without any issues.  Apple says it is a problem with my Bluetooth device.  Come on Apple.... This makes 7 different Bluetooth devices with different manufacturers.  You cannot possibly believe the problem is with the Bluetooth devices when iOS7 works perfectly fine...
On another issue, my iPhone 5s worked perfectly fine in my vehicle entertainment center connected via USB.  The vehicle entertainment center had complete control of my iPhone and iTunes.  However, now I plug in my new iPhone 6 and it no longer communicates with my vehicle entertainment center.  Again when I called Apple, they said my vehicle entertainment center needed a firmware update.  Are you kidding me...  That is a bunch of BS...!!!

  • How to adjust bluetooth headset volume in mediapla...

    Hi,
I've a problem with lovely E75. I just got a new bluetooth headset (HBH-IS800 SonyEricsson) without any volume control. In a normal call the volume adjust works perfect, but in the mediaplayer the volume is to loud even if I press the lower buttom to it says 10% in the display.
I also have the same problem with systemsounds (lika SMS) that plays in the BT headset, they are to load.
Is it possible to change the output volume from this media applications? I cant find any help in the manual or menusystems.

I beg to differ. If SE implements the basic BT protocol set and Nokia will recognize this, and connects, then Nokia's work is done. Nokia is not required to support SE headset but is required to support the BT standards. The idea is to get you to purchase an SE phone over a Nokia phone and vise versa. To not understand this is to miss out on the basics of business fundamentals.
While it may be a great headset, personally I like the fact that I can use my much better headphones (Shure SE 530's) with the Nokia BH-214. I had the SE HBH-DS220 but got rid of it because it too had a very strange BT protocol that would not allow it to connect until music was streaming from the phone. The guys at the SE shop acknowledged this as normal behavior between manufacturers. If you do not believe this, go to and SE shop, or Nokia, or both and ask them to explain it to you.

  • How do I charge my Apple Bluetooth Headset in the car?

    Hi there,
I have the Apple Bluetooth Headset, but I'm yet to find a way to charge it in the car. I've tried plugging the USB cable it came with into a USB car charger adapter, but it doesn't work!
Can anyone give me any suggestions please?
    Thanks!
    Kt

I'm in the same situation, but I'm considering buying a car charger that can support the 120V plug-in, just like in the house. I'll probably plug-in my MB, iPhone and BT all at the same time. I'll keep you posted.

  • IPhone bluetooth headset charging

I'm curious how the dual dock charges the iPhone bluetooth headset. It looks like the area where the microphone is on the headset is also the charging contacts. Is that so?

  • Charge Level of Bluetooth Headset on OS X

Is it possible to see the charge state of a Bluetooth headset on OS X? On iOS, you can see it in the status bar.

Using a headset needs several steps even needed if you have the latest computer or Mac OS X release. Please make sure to follow them in order.
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
    Install it
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long).
Start the Apple Bluetooth Assistant and select Headset. Do not use anything else!
Make your headset Bluetooth visible. Look up the manual of your headset how to do that.
Now select the headset in System Preferences > Sound.
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the already installed updater yourself (do not ask me why). Step 4 fails if your Bluetooth USB adapter is not supported by Apple and you have to go for a D-Link DBT-120 USB adapter.

  • Apple headset unpairs from iPhone after charging in dock

After the first charge after buying the headset, it auto-paired to my iPhone when charging in the dock and worked properly afterwards. The next time I charged both in the dock, the headset would not pair to the iPhone afterward. The only way to re-pair was to turn off bluetooth on the phone, power off the headset, turn bluetooth back on, and power up the headset. Then the next time I charged them in the dock, same problem. I took my headset back to an Apple store thinking it was faulty, but the Genius explained that he has exactly the same behavior with his and it's just a fact of life with the Apple BT headset. My husband was given one for Xmas so I tried it out with my iPhone and, as expected, same problem. I'm surprised not more people are talking about this in these forums. Having to go through a annoying 4-step process to re-pair the headset after charging is absurd.

I was having the same problem, but I discovered a fix! I am using an iPhone with 1.1.3 firmware. Okay here goes.
    1. Turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone and turn off the headset as well.
    2. Plug in the iPhone and the headset in the dock. Make sure that the dock is plugged in to your computer via USB. Bluetooth should come on automatically and the headset should pair as well, but the bluetooth symbol will be grayed out, i.e. not connected.
    3. Remove the bluetooth headset from the dock.
    4. Unpair the headset from the iPhone via Settings - General - Bluetooth. Turn off bluetooth once you are done unpairing.
    5. Turn off the headset.
    6. While the iPhone is in the dock, reboot the iPhone.
    7. Once the iPhone boots up, plug in the headset in the dock.
Voila... the bluetooth should come on automatically and the headset should pair as well, but this time the bluetooth symbol will be lit up, i.e. bluetooth connected.
Not done yet... remove the headset from the dock. The bluetooth symbol on the iPhone will go off, i.e. grayed out. Wait a few seconds and hit the button on the headset once and the bluetooth on the iPhone will reactivate and connect to your headset.
    Hope this helps!
