How to unregister 32-bit Indesign.exe
I am unable to use the full functionality of 32 bit and 64 bit InDesign CC application, when consulted Adobe they told Application uses same CLSID for both 32 and 64 bit, hence requested to uninstall 32 bit from add or remove programs which will unregister 32 bit CLSID registeries.
So we want this un-installation to be silent and we tired with diff. switchs from adobe blog which in end gives UI prompts, is there a way where we can uninstall the 32 Bit application silently using creative tool or PDapp.exe ?
Please suggest.

You need the 64-bit DVD, and you have to do a clean install, so it won't keep applications

Problem/Issue: when attempting to activacte new Anti-virus program I purchased, the system is trying to use Internet Explorer in the Program Files (x86) 32 bit iexplore.exe (that does not work). The 64 bit - Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe does work... How do I fix/install 32 bit version of IE back to my system (in this directory)?Hi,
Try the following.
Click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Open Programs and Features, Click 'Turn Windows features on or off' and remove the tick next to Internet Explorer 9 Click Yes then OK and then when done, restart the PC.
When Windows has restarted, click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Open Programs and Features, Click 'Turn Windows features on or off' and re-enter the tick next to Internet Explorer 9. Click Yes then OK and when this has finished installing, restart the PC again.

In order to fix Cognos, I changed my ORACLE_HOME and path to point to the 32-bit client (i.e. from D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1 toOn Windows platform, ORACLE_HOME should not be set by user (it is already set by installer, in the Registry).
To pick up proper settings, PATH need to be set or used.

Sooooo, I think I need to set the OH and PATH back to the 64-bit as that is what the Listener requires but any ideas how to get the 32-bit sqlplus to also work?!?Please remove OH from env system settings.
Multiple homes on Windows is often a source of problems, since extra consideration and setup is needed more than just installing the software.
If "Cognos" relies on system PATH, then one way to go might be:
- put path to 32-bit Client bin folder first in PATH
- set up a shortcut to command window with only 64-bit in PATH, for times when you need to administer the database via command line. -
InDesign.exe CS5 crashes on exit
I have a marketing user here who has an annoying, but not a showstopping error every time she closes InDesign.
InDesign CS5 works fine, but when she is done and closes out, it causes this message:
DDE Server Window: InDesign.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00918013" referenced memory at "0x0aa06f18". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program.
{ok}
It's not really a huge deal, because she's closing the program anyway, but it's annoying and is not very professional to say the least.
The computer has gone through the Dell diagnostics "Memory Test" where it writes patterns of data to the RAM and reads it back. It passes all of these tests, so I'm not sure why InDesign.exe is having trouble reading the memory, or why it would even care about reading what's in RAM when it is closing anyway.
It's a Windows XP SP3 32-bit Dell Precision Workstation 380. Pentium 4, 3 GHz, 4GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive (112GB Free).

I'm pretty sure almost all the PC's have that though, and there's no issues.
We also do Windows Updates regularly and it's connected to a WSUS server, in which I approve all security updates.
Hope something here helps. Thanks for looking into it!I am having the exact same problem with the error message on exit of InDesign CS5.
I tried to rebuilt the files with Alt+Shift+Ctrl and then exit the program afterwards. The first time it worked without a flaw. Then the second and third time the problem appeared again.
On top of that InDesign crashed in Win XP and the possibility for an error report was given.
I asked one of my colleagues that has the exact same setup (OS) and CS5 suite and she doesn't have this problem ever. However I read that somebody in this thread assumed it could have something to do with installed fonts. I did install fonts in the windows fonts folder as well as locally in the Adobe font folder a month or two ago but this problem seemed to have appeared some time after this when it happened for the first time (not 100% sure though when exactly that was).
Also I have noticed something interesting.
The error message only appears when InDesign is closed WITH a document open and not when there is no document open while closing InDesign down. Thought this could be of interest... :-)
If someone can shed light on a solution I'd be most grateful. -

How to Install 64-bit "Generic / Text Only" print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server?
Hi All,
In a nutshell, I need to Install the 64-bit Generic / Text Only print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server’s “Generic / Text Only 32-bit print queue.
The problem is that there is no Driver-Disk to get the drivers. I’ve been able to isolate 14 files related to the 64 bit drivers from a Windows 7 x64 computer and copy them to a temp folder on the Windows 2003 x32 server. When I try to add the 64 bit driver
to the Windows 2003 x32 server, it wants a *.inf file, which I don’t have and can’t find.
Because Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, my client is replacing all of their Point-of-Sale Windows XP x32 systems with Windows 7 x64. They use Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) to connect to a Windows 2003 x32 server to use the POS system. The
POS software redirects LPT1 back to the local Generic / Text Only printer. This works great for XP x32.
When we use the Terminal Services POS software on the new Windows 7 x64 system, none of the labels print out because it’s redirected in 32-bit back to the local Windows 7 x64 Generic / Text Only 64-bit printer.
This will be a huge issue for me if I can’t get this to work.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help! -Robthose may be helpful...

Indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
After formatting my hard drive and reinstalling InDesign CS3, I am not able to open the program.
When I click the shortcut to start the program, it starts to load for about 10-15 seconds, then freezes and gives me this error message:
"Indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
I tried reinstalling over the first installation. Then I downloaded the latest updates (Ver. 5.0.4)
Then I rebooted the computer. Same problem. Rebooted two more times. Same problem.
Uninstalled the program. Reinstalled. Rebooted. Same error msg. Installed update to Ver 5.9.4, same error msg.
Rebooted again, same error msg.
What's next? I am at a loss.
Thank youOk, I did the following with no luck yet...
Deleted fonts that had been dragged into the Windows Fonts folder.
Searched for adobefnt*.lst, found 6 files, deleted them.
Uninstalled InDesign again.
Downloaded CleanScript.
Did CleanScript Method 1 as described in ReadMe file:
Uninstalled InDesign
Went to documents and settings\username\application data\adobe\patchlogs
deleted adobeInDesignCS35.0.log
deleted adobeSingCS3 0.1.log
deleted adobeLinguistics CS3 3.0.0.log
Went to documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\adobe
Looked for files to delete with CS3 in the name, but did not see any.
Installed InDesign
Rebooted
Would not start
Did CleanScript Method 2 (same as you suggested)
Uninstalled InDesign
Ran Clean Script
Reboot
Run MSconfig
turned off everything not marked as "essential"
reboot
Tried to install ID
Error Msg: Windows Installer Service needs to be running
Ran MS config/ enabled Installer service
reboot
Installed ID
Tried to start it, would not start, got this error msg:
Licensing for this product has stopped working. You cannot use this prodict at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT...
Started MSconfig/ enabled all the old services
reboot
Tried to start ID, got same Licensing error msg
Reinstalled ID on top of the old installation
Tried to start ID
Got the OLD error msg

How Do I combine 2 InDesign Documents into 1 (in a very particular way)
How do I combine two InDesign Documents into one in a very specific way.
Here's my problem: I have two separate InDesign CS5 files for playing cards. File one is the front. File two is the back.
The company that does my final print production needs the the cards sent as two separate PDFs. One for the card fronts, one for the card backs. Both of these InDesign (and the PDF export) files are arranged in the same way: page 1 is card #1, page 2 is card #2, etc. Nice and simple.
However, I use a different company for producing prototype versions of the decks (the production printer can't do this economically). My prototype producer needs me to send a single PDF where page 1 is Card #1 Back, page 2 is Card #1 Front, Page 3 is Card #2 back, Page 4 is Card #2 front, etc.
The decks I am building usually run 56 cards, but can be as large as 180 cards.
So, what's the easiest way to automate this process? is there a way to combine two separate indesign files by "interleaving" the pages from the two original documents into a new larger document (where I could do a new PDF export)? Or, is there a better way to do this in Acrobat Pro? At the moment I have to resort to drag and dropping each card from one PDF thumbnail pallet to the other. It's really time consuming and mind-numbingly boring. Any Ideas?This script is actually pretty straightforward, so it's a good first
challenge I think.
I would script this in InDesign -- probably because I'm more familiar
with InDesign scripting.
To start learning the InDesign scripting basics, open the ExtendScript
Toolkit (ESTK) which is almost certainly installed on your computer
already. Go to the Help menu, and you'll find an entry there called
Adobe Intro to Scripting. Read that. I think that's the best place to start.
For the script in question, you would want to:
1. make sure both InDesign documents are open. They would both have the
same number of pages. (No scripting involved here, just make sure
they're open before running the script.)
2. loop backwards through the collection of document pages of one of the
documents. (document.pages is the collection you're looking for)
3. use the move() method of a document page to move it. (myPage.move())
4. Learn about the LocationOptions enumerator so that when you move the
page you can tell InDesign if you want to move it before, or after
another page. (LocationOptions.AFTER or LocationOptions.BEFORE)
5. Get a reference to the page in the second document before (or after)
which you want to move the page in the first document.
5. that's basically it
I suggest that as you work your way through this (if you decide to take
up the challenge), you post any questions you may have on the InDesign
Scripting forum here. -
How can I script a Flash .exe file to always stay on top of all other windows?
Hi All,
I'm new to action script, and I just need this one script
> How can I script a Flash .exe file to always stay on top of

Basically what i want to do is have a flash-created
step-by-step instructional movie, but for the movie to remain on
top of all windows so the instructee is able to follow the
instructions on-screen...
It would be preferable to not have to buy another product
just to do this... as I said, this is the only scripting I need.
Thanks in advance

An error occur indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
I am having trouble with adobe indesign CS5. Each time I opened my document an error occur indesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. It got send report and don't send report to Microsoft. I have already used google web as a help and nothing came up. I have already tried to uninstall and re-install it but still same issue occured. Other Adobe products such as Adobe Dreanweaver CS5 and Adobe Flash CS5 work fine.I would greatly appreciated if you can walk me through. Thanks.
Windows error reports are too vague to help us much. Did you get an error number?
Is this happening now every time you start ID? That would likely mean the recovery data is damaged. You can find the InDesign Recovery folder in your user profile. This folder is probably hidden, so you'll need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden and system files, then look in the same directory as the location of InDesign Defaults, which you can find for your version of Windows in the information in this link: Replace Your Preferences
Once you find the InDesign Recovery folder, either rename or empty it, then ID should start normally. If you file crashes again when you try to open it from the file menu please tell us as much information as you can. -
CS5 Indesign.exe experienced an error and needs to close. When opening File
This is what it shows for error:
AppName: indesign.exe AppVer: 7.0.3.535 ModName: paragraph composer
It opens the document for about 10 seconds and then I get the error... I tried clearing preferences, no addins, no new fonts added. Any other suggestions?
ThanksIt sounds like a font or corrupt style, or possibly a corrupt link. If you send me a link to the file in a private message, I'll attempt to open it here. If successful I'll send you a .idml file and you can try that.

How to show/hide an indesign document in cs4
Hi all,
How to hide/show an indesign document in cs4.
In cs3 , I am doing this using the following code --
IWindow* docWindow = Utils<IWindowUtils>()->GetFrontDocWindow( docRef.GetDataBase() );
//Schedule the command to show the layout window of original document in CS3
InterfacePtr<ICommand> showHideCmd (CmdUtils::CreateCommand( kShowHideWinCmdBoss ));

InterfacePtr<IIntData> iIntData (showHideCmd, IID_IINTDATA);
iIntData->Set( IWindow::kShow );
CmdUtils::ScheduleCommand( showHideCmd );
docWindow->BringToFront();
In cs4, there is an API kShowHidePresentaitonCmd
Code that i wrote for CS4 --
//Schedule the command to show the layout window of original document in CS4IDocumentPresentation* docWindow = Utils<IDocumentUIUtils>()->GetFrontmostPresentationForDocument( docRef.GetDataBase() );
InterfacePtr<ICommand> showHideCmd (CmdUtils::CreateCommand( kShowHidePresentationCmdBoss ));
InterfacePtr<IPresentationCmdData> presentationCmdData (showHideCmd, IID_IPRESENTATIONCMDDATA);
presentationCmdData->Set( docWindow );
InterfacePtr<IIntData> iIntData (showHideCmd, IID_IINTDATA);
iIntData->Set( 0 ); // What is the parameter that should be passed in the set function. 0 is not working
ErrorCode result = CmdUtils::ProcessCommand( showHideCmd );
