How to update 3G to current version when itunes says already up2date?

I still have and use my original Iphone 3G 16gig phone.. Its slow as a slug going uphill once you start filling the hard drive but anyways, I tried to download an app in the app store yesterday and it said i needed to update to 4.3.xxx first... so i thought cool finally an update for this ancient phone.. Connected to itunes and checked for an update and itunes says phone is up to date with version 4.2.1
Am I missing something? How can it tell me i need the current version for the app/phone when the phone and itunes say its already up to date?

Have you closed out everything in the Multitasking menu? You can do that by double clicking the home button and then holding down on the apps until the red circle and then click on that. Hope this helps.

This behaviour is expected. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not update the About Info screen of the SCSM console. Add remove programs shows version .315, which means the console was also updated.
Make sure to also update consoles that your users are running on their computers.

How to update Acrobat to current version in one shot?

We use Acrobat here at work on several computers, whenever I have to install it on a machine I have to spend hours getting it up to date to the current version because I have to apply each update one at a time. Is there a cummulative update that would bring any version of Acrobat up to current?

Admins typically chain them together and use an AIP or Bootstrapper. The details depend on your version as 9.x and 10x are radically different.

I have iPhone 4 with newest update and Mac laptop with Snow Leopard and current version of iTunes. When I hook the phone up via USB, iPhoto pops open and reads the pictures for import, but iTunes doesn't do anything. Not seeing the device as a USB, either

Sorry, thought that was the body of the question, so the title is long. When I plug in my iPhone 4 (newest update) into my Mac laptop (current version of iTunes, Snow Leopard), it does not read the music, apps, etc., or open iTunes at all. It syncs the pictures, but it doesn't not show as a USB device, either. I have gone through the Troubleshooting assistant, restarting both comp and laptop, using different USB ports, etc. If it is of note, when I look at the option to Sync through Wifi on the phone, it says that sync will happen when my computer (by name) is "available." Not sure if this is a phone issue or laptop, leaning towards laptop, since iPhoto syncs. Willing to buy Lion if that will fix the problem! I would appreciate any help that is given.

You have written a very long story, and I admit I have skipped most of it. But I think the question is you are on iOS 7, and cannot get the latest version of iTunes (11.1.5) on your computer because your OS X is too old.
The fact that you chose not to update your hardware does not mean you could not update your software!
OS X 10.5 is very old (about four years). iTunes 11.1.5 (current version) requires at least OS X 10.6.8 to run. Very likely, you could upgrade your computer's software to at least OS X 10.6.8 and then download the current iTunes on it.

I have done that and it is through pressing that update, which tells me that there is anew version of iphone software, that the prompt comes telling me that this is the current itunes?

Simply downloading won't erase anything. Did you install too? If you installed too then normally it also should not affect the library but sometimes for strange reasons it does which is why you need to do a computer backup before installing any updates of any kind. Do you have a backup?

Software Update keeps asking me to install the existing, current version of iTunes

Well, I thought this would go away - maybe - when I just updated to iTunes 11.3. But, it didn't. I uninstalled iTunes and all associated programs in the order recommended by one posting, rebooted, installed the current iTunes 11.3. But, when I run the Software Update, it still tells me I need to update to 11.3 (now - it used to say 11.2, etc.). I've had this problem for some time. I have three machines in the house with iTunes on each - all are basically identical installs - all done at the same time, and this one machine is the only one that can't recognize that it already has the current version of iTunes and keeps popping up wanting me to install it all over again - which I've done by following the prompt, and then it immediately checks to see if new updates are required and tells me - again - that I need to update to the current version - which, of course, is already installed. How do I get out of this loop? Help????

I am so sorry I am frustrating you. This is the first time I have used this community and am leanring as I go. I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.

It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, in which case you can only upgrade to iOS version 3.1. Here is a link to purchase the update.
