How to update apps but block install apps

we use the iPad in my company. We want to block user to install apps, but allow user to update apps which is free apps.
As block user to install apps, it will block the apps store. How can we update the apps when it block the apps store?

If you block access to the App Store on the iPad then I don't think that you can update apps directly on the iPad - updating, as well as installing, is done via the store. The only other way to update apps is via a connection to a (iTunes account authorised) computer which has had the updated app(s) downloaded to it.

  • How to update apps in iTunes 11.0.4.4

    Hi,
Is anyone able to tell me how I update apps via iTunes in version 11.0.4?
    Thanks

I saw that the Apps box was unche cked in my General Preferences (Edit -> Preferences).  I checked the Apps box and then "Apps" reappeared in my Sidebar.  If you click on Apps, there is an option for Updates in the menu across the top.  But I didn't have any apps appear on the page after I clicked Apps.  I went to the store and downloaded a free app.  That one appeared in the Apps list.  But my other apps do not appear.  I'm assuming it's something related to syncing (if I sync my device then the apps might reappear).  But I'm having Wi-Fi sync issues as well.  This "update" *****.

On the iPod go to App store app and tap Updates in lower right. Then tap on Update  all or update individual ones.
Note that if yo do not have iOS 6, you may not be able to update the the latest version of some apps since some require iOS  4.3 or higher. some iOS 5 or higher or some iOS 6.

  • How to update apps in itunes 11

Cannot find in Itunes 11 how to update apps.  The phone indicates availble updates, which I can do directly on the phone.  in itunes 10 you could update apps and save the cellular data.  I cannot find it.

No one has offered this solution yet:
I also had the problem where the "View" menu did not have a "Show Sidebar" option, and there was NO pull-down menu in the upper left (not "apps", not "music" -- no menu at all).  The problem, as said earlier, is that I was 'looking at my iPhone'.  I.e., topics listed at the top center were: "Summary", "Info", "Apps", "Music", etc., and I had already clicked on "Apps", which is not the thing to do (unfortunately).  There is no pathway from the "Apps" option for the iPhone section to actual App updates (sigh!).  Solution:
    1.  If you can't find the "Show Sidebar" option in the "View" menu and don't see any pull-down menu at upper left, click on the blue "DONE" button in the upper right.
    2.  This should get you back to your library, and now be able to see the pull-down menu at upper left and see the "Show Sidebar" option in the "View" menu.
        a.  If you do "Show Sidebar", the page will look a lot like earlier (better) versions of iTunes, and you can click on the "Apps" line near upper-left.
         b.  If you go to the pull-down menu, instead, you get the same 4 choices that are in the sidebar ("Music", "Movies", "TV Shows", and "Apps").  Clicking on "Apps" gives you the Apps page, with any available updates mentioned at lower left.

  • How to update app installed by third party

My colleague was using this macbook and installed x code. He has since disappeared prefering a life making wooden bowls to computer programming.
I cannot use x code until I update it, but I cannot update it as it was installed on his apple id.
I cannot find any way of unistalling it either, so I'm in the situation that this Macbook is of no use to anyone and might as well be a doorstop.
    Help desperately needed

If the system is now yours you should  wipe it and re-install the OS and apps using your Apple ID, you'll be running into troubles like this repeatedly.
If that is totally out of the question (and you should really give it strong consideration) you could delete the Xcode installed now, log into the Mac App store with your ID and install Xcode.
That should work though I've never tried it myself.
    regards
To uninstall Xcode just drag it to the trash from the Applications folder

  • How to update apps on windows 7

I have windows 7 64 bit and itunes 11 64bit.  It states in the manual to click on the app in the library and press F5 to update.  i did this and nothing happens.  i tried it with numbers ( which on the ipad states there is an update for it) but nothing happened.  What is the Windows 7 control key that needs to be click on or the option in the menu in itunes.
    thanks

    Hi offi55
Why do you need a new BIOS? Can you notice some issues with the notebook or why do you try to update?
However, I think the update should only be done on preinstalled Windows version (XP or Vista). I assume this update wasnt tested and designed for Windows 7 so I think this would be the reason why you cant update it.
So install Windows from Toshiba recovery disk and try to update again. It should work.

  • How to update apps from different account

Ok, so I haven't updated my apps in a while and was doing so a moment ago.  Everything updates fine but for some reason the iBooks app was originally downloaded from my friends account, which I obviously don't have the password to.  It's a free app and I've previously downloaded it onto my iPhone as well.  Is there anyway I can update it without reinstalling because I'll lose all my textbooks for school.
    Thank you

No. You need his or her ID and password in order to update the app. You can either continue to use the app as is, or download it again using your ID.
If the books were purchased using your ID, I don't see why you would lose those purchases. They will still be tied to your ID and that has nothing to do both the app itself. You should absolutely transfer the books into iTunes on your computer before you try reinstalling the app on you iPad. This explains how to transfer purchases.

You should be able to sync the books back to your iPad if a thing goes wrong. However if you are using the books on the iPhone and you downloaded iBooks using your own ID on the phone, that proves to me that this should not be a problem. At least, that's the way that I see this situation. Hopefully someone else will come along and either reaffirm what I am saying, or slap me down if I am incorrect. Heaven knows it wouldn't be te first time that has happened.

  • How can update pop - up blocker settings

How can I update pop - up blocker settings

If you're suddenly seeing unaccustomed ad activity, you may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How to update PL/SQL block/Specs in Repository without cut/paste ?

    (cross-posted in METALINK form also)
    Hello,
Question: How to quickly update PL/SQL block/specs in a package
    Repository Object Browser? (without cut/paste)
    Tools: Designer 9i, ROB 9.0.2.6
    Detailed description of a problem:
-- there is no good pl/sql IDE working with ROB
(JDeveloper can not work with NOT PRIVATE repository workspace)
    -- I use Toad and develop/generate pl/sql object
    directly in database.
-- I have to synchronize my work with repository as often
as possible the following way (we do not use read-server model
because afraid of getting 1000s of atomik func and proc):
---- navigate to the pl/sql package
    ---- select properties
---- click on pl/sql block - get old code in editor
---- copy all new code from Toad into editor
---- remove CREATE OR REPLACE and last line
    ---- save
---- do the same with specifications
I am looking for some way to do this with some script or
    one-button click...
For example, for text files it is possible to use command line
Repository Tool. But I did not found the possibility to make
    a script like this:
    checkout
    update workarea/container/plsql_definition/package_name/body....
    .....with new_package_body.txt
    checkin
Thanks in advance for any help/advice,
    Alex V.

    Hi Alex,
I just had an "Ah! I see!" moment. I now understand why you're having trouble and I can explain things so you can move on... I hope!
First it's important to understand that Oracle SCM is designed to support versioning of both files and Oracle Designer objects. Designer objects are stored as rows in specially structured tables that support that specific product. When you look at PL/SQL definitions in the RON you're looking at Designer definitions - not files. As I mentioned before, these are not the definitions of 'real' PL/SQL objects in the data dictionary, but definitions used by Designer (from which the real things can be generated - but that's another story).
If you're using TOAD you should probably avoid accessing the Designer objects. You need to work with files.
Here's a suggestion for a sequence of operations:
    - In the RON check out & download the file (e.g. mypkg.plb)
    - In TOAD load the package (from DB, or downloaded file), edit, update package in DB
    - In TOAD save as mypkg.plb (overwriting the downloaded copy)
    - IN RON upload mypkg.plb and check in
If you've not stored the file in Oracle SCM yet, jsut omit the first step.
You could even automate this to an extent using SQL to query the data dictionary views (e.g. USER_SOURCE) after making changes to get the code and edit/overwrite the file contents that way.
    Does this help at all?
    Keith.

  • Windows Updates downloaded but not installing

I've created update list en deployments like I always do, but updates won't get installed.
In the UpdatesDeploymentsw.log I see updates being downloaded, they are saved in the cache folder.

Which log or error can me help troubleshooting this problem?

  • How to Update apps installed on E:\ drive

I don't get updates for the apps on my D:\ drive. I installed Photoshop on the C:\drive because I was too late when changing the folder were the apps should be. So PhotoShop is now version 2014.2.2. But the other apps I use, InDesign and Illustrator are on my D:\drive still 2014.0.
I tried the direct downloads from All Adobe CC 2014 Updates: The Direct Download Links for Windows | ProDesignTools but then I get the message that this update is not correct for me.
How do I get the updates?

Since the OP did want to change their ID (and 10 months ago), it may be best to start your own thread. By posting in this one we'd assume you have the same issue. It would be easier to help if you started your own thread and provided details about the problem.

  • Question:   How to update app with a new version with new SQLite tables?

We're updating an application in the App Store, and haven't yet found good information on how to deal with updates to the SQLite Schema and data that should be transferred between apps.
    Anyone successfully done this?
Q1: Does the old DB files stay on the iPhone after update? Does the installer do a "diff" between them? In our case, we just extended tables, rather than changing them, in hope that we can successfully move the data for users gracefully.
Q2: If the installer does in fact wipe all the data and files on the app before install, is there a way to access the data before it updates, so the app can gracefully update the data?

    to Templeton Peck:
    Good Sir,
I would thoroughly appreciate you responding in a helpful manner rather than punishing my question with no regard to my question. Your harsh, quick, and false judgement was certainly not appreciated here. In regards to the macbook release: I was simply wondering IF there were releases of information that I had not heard of. I wasn't asking you to spill rumors of never released info.
Maybe you should read this material a little more carefully without hastily looking forward to ripping apart a wondering mac user.
But in regards to the SQL, I enjoy the following:

  • How can update apps when I'v forgot my password ?

I have about 50 apps on my Iphone, I'v bought them form my Iphones (I had 3 and 3S and 4). I'v bougth them with an apple ID and I'v never have problem to sync with my new phones. But now I forget my password for this ID and I couldn't fixed it, because I forget all my register data: my old e-mail adress, and I don't know how don't match my birth date, so I can't use this ID, whether I'v used my credit card for ages. I made a new Apple ID with the same credit card, and I'd have liked to update my apps, but I couldn't do it because this apps was bought with my old ID. So Can I able to update my apps somehow or I have to buy again them just because I forget my old registration datas?

You shall have to purchase them again. The only way to update them is with the Apple ID that bought them. Apple will not combine Apple IDs.
    Unless you can recover the old Apple ID, it is easy;
