How to update apps from different account

Ok, so I haven't updated my apps in a while and was doing so a moment ago. Everything updates fine but for some reason the iBooks app was originally downloaded from my friends account, which I obviously don't have the password to. It's a free app and I've previously downloaded it onto my iPhone as well. Is there anyway I can update it without reinstalling because I'll lose all my textbooks for school.

No. You need his or her ID and password in order to update the app. You can either continue to use the app as is, or download it again using your ID.
If the books were purchased using your ID, I don't see why you would lose those purchases. They will still be tied to your ID and that has nothing to do both the app itself. You should absolutely transfer the books into iTunes on your computer before you try reinstalling the app on you iPad. This explains how to transfer purchases.

You should be able to sync the books back to your iPad if a thing goes wrong. However if you are using the books on the iPhone and you downloaded iBooks using your own ID on the phone, that proves to me that this should not be a problem. At least, that's the way that I see this situation. Hopefully someone else will come along and either reaffirm what I am saying, or slap me down if I am incorrect. Heaven knows it wouldn't be te first time that has happened.

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Multiple 1&1 email accounts, how do I send from different accounts?

I have an iPhone 3G with 2.x software on it.
I have 1&1 hosting email accounts with different username/pwds, but they all point to smtp.1and1.com to send.
I have no problem receiving emails (POP3 or IMAP), but when sending email (SMTP), I have only one option for outgoing smtp on server smtp.1and1.com. I can't setup multiple smtp servers that use the same server DNS name, but different username/pwds. I have tried some of the other 1&1 SMTP server names like smtp.perfora.net and mrelay.perfora.net (which work fine with outlook), but the iPhone keeps saying they are invalid.
Any help?

I am only checking one Gmail account on my phone, but there are multiple smtp.gmail.com servers listed, each with different usernames/passwords, that were transferred to the phone when I synced settings from Apple Mail.

Install app from different account?

I have two Apple ID's, one for work, one for home. I accidentally installed XCode from the home ID instead of my work ID. I'd like to delete it and install it from the work ID, since that's the one I'm logged into most of the time, and since it pertains to work, not home.
So, I deleted the XCode app (4.4.x), logged out of the home ID, logged into the work ID. However, XCode still says "Update" on the Mac App Store page instead of "Install".
Is there a way to do this?

The MAS can see versions of the apps on mounted partitions and drives. Do you have a backup, perhaps Time Machine, which has the app? If so, unmount the partition or drive with the old app and try again.

Rudegar is correct - you cannot remove the app permanently from your account. There has been much discussion about this on the ASC site and many users have concerns for many different reasons. As suggested send feedback to Apple.
But remember this - your account is a part of Apple's official and legal sales records. In the real world - you just cannot delete a record of sale - for accounting reasons and for legal reasons.

You likely have them in both the On My Mac account and the iCloud account. I deleted all from my On My Mac account except the ones I didn't want iClouded. Did the opposite on the iCloud account.

Go to the apps page, click Check for updates
