How To: Update Firmware on Blu-ray Players

Here is my question: I have been burning DVD's of our annual talent show to give as a gift to the performers in appreciation of their work in the show. After burning 10, my DVD burner stopped working and the message requested that I update my "Firmware" - no other message and no clue as to how to go about doing this.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A665 laptop that I purchased in 2010 and this was the first attempt at burning a DVD which as I said went well for the first 10 but now I cannot get the thing to burn anymore.
How do I update my firmware? Any clues would be greatly appreciated as some of these performers are snowbirds and will be leaving for the north (Canada, Mishigan, New York, to name a few of the places) and I hate for them to leave without a DVD of their performance so that they can share the fun with their relatives back home.
Help!!!!!!!!

Peter:
Had some medical emergencies and haven't really gotten back to my problem with the DVD's and Firmware - but I did attempt a different project recently (which also needed me to burn a DVD that was larger than the typical 4.7 GB) and was successful in doing so. I ended up pulling the still pictures out so that the size wasn't so big and put them in a separate folder and then attempted successfully, I might add, to burn the DVD using a 4.7 GB DVD instead of a Dual Level 8.5 GB DVD.
Hopefully things will quiet down this weekend and I will do some research into using the Toshiba Service Station you made reference to. But for now, I am a happy camper. Oh, by the way, since I learned how to do it using the 4.7 GB DVD's, I merely broke the talent show into two parts and burned it on two smaller DVDs versus attempting to put it on the 8.5 GB DVD. What puzzled me was that I could burn the 4.7 GB DVD's but not the 8.5 GB DVD's. But hey - it worked.
Thanks again for all your support.

  • E4200 Connection issues with two Samsung Blu-ray players at a time

    Hi everybody,
    Sorry about my English,
I have E4200 V1 router, it is working fine, and I am connecting different type of devices with it like desktop computer, laptop, iphone, printer and two Samsung 3d smart Blu-ray players. Everything is working fine. I have charter cable internet.
But the problem is this: when I play movies via Netflix on both Samsung Blu-ray players (one player is in my family room and second player is in up stare bedroom) one player stopped playing movie and disconnected from the wireless network and message shows (check your wireless network).
When I stopped/turn OFF the second Blu-ray player, then the first one got connected with network and start playing movies.
I can’t run both Blu-ray players at the same time on this E4200. When I was playing both players at that time all the other devices I mentioned above was connected with the same network but were not performing any task, those were in sleeping mode.
I also changed the QoS, Quality of Service setting to high priority using MAC address for both players, but it is still not playing both Blu-ray players at the same time. Just one plays the movies at a time.
Any idea or help to solve this issue, I would really appreciate that.
    Thanks,

Hi, chzsoona. Have you tried changing the channel of your wireless channel? You may try channels 1, 6, 9, 11. If you have a version 1 router, check your firmware version it should be 1.0.05. If you have version 2 router then you may upgrade it then use Linksys Smart WiFi so you can take advantage of the Media Prioritization. To know more about your router you may use this link: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=7824947fe4444ac3ad5cc...

how to connect my sony blue ray play to wifi via my airport utility?

The airport utility has nothing whatever to do with the sony bluray player.
The airport utility is to setup wireless in the airport.. once you setup wireless then you use the sony setup for wireless in the player as per its manual.
Please do keep the wireless names short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
As well as pure alphanumeric passwords if you want to do this successfully.

  • LG blu ray players to stream FIOS channels wireless

I am looking to try using a wireless LG blu ray player to stream some channels from FIOS instead of having to purchase additional cable boxes for some bedroom TVs.  I can not find the technical requirements  I need in a device to get this to work.  Is FIOS DLNA compatible? Has anyone found a wireless blu ray player that has had experience with streaming channels from Verizon as is advertised on their website?

The first link contains support information for LG streaming devices. At the bottom of the page it shows the two currently supported Blu Ray players. You would need to do your own evaluations in regards to the wireles. But right now I have for example, Redbox Instant Beta loaded in my Iphone and it streams Via 3G or Wifi.
The Redbox Beta list of players is not final, as the service is being tested.
Not the same as a BD player, but my X box is streaming those 75 channels with an ethernet cable, and I have not tried it with wireless.
Samsung information is also available from Verizon.
I hope this information is helpful. They may not show it but here are Verizon's listed devices that can download the app from the app stores.

  • Blue Ray Players

I recently bought a HP Envy 23 All in One PC with a blue ray player, my question is, do you have to play only blue ray dvds in the player.  I have been having problems playing my standard dvd, is this the reason I am having problems?

    Hello 381SDW,
You are having issues with Blu ray player not playing standard DVD’s, is that correct? I will be happy to help you.
Blu ray players can play what are considered approved standard DVD’s. Which in other words means store bought DVD’s or commercial DVD’s.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

    Drag, drop, burn

Toast 11 is the easiest and fastest way to burn your music, video, photo and data files on to CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ for both Mac and PC. Archive up to 50 GB on high capacity Blu-ray Discs.

  • Analog outputs for Blu-ray players

I'm not even sure if you can play a Blu-ray on an analog TV, but the internet features are usable, if you could display them. I know HDMI to RCA adapters can be purchased, but why make the consumer have to buy them. MANY people still have analog televisions. I think a large market is being missed. I use my Blu-ray players for the internet functions a lot more than I play discs. Also, many people still have analog stereos and can't output the sound. I know some players have coaxial outputs, but older stereos can't use them. It's going to be a long time before everyone has digital TV's and stereos. If these units had RCA video and audio, they could still have use for a Blu-ray player.

    Hi
I saw your question and was wondering if 4 months later you had found out any useful information about the BDP-S780 connectivity to any TV.  Info about the webcam/video camera to connect to it would be equally useful.  Thanks.

  • How to Export HDV for Blu-Ray?

When editing in DV mode, I would export an avi and a wav file, use Tmpgenc to convert the avi to an m2v file, then import the m2v and wav files into Tmpgenc DVD Author 16 to build a menu and burn a DVD. How do I burn a Blu-Ray disc after editing HDV? What are the steps? (I have a Blu-Ray burner and Blu-Ray discs.) I downloaded Tmpgenc Authoring Works 4 Trial, but it wouldn't recognize an m2v file that I made using Adobe Encoder. I can't use Encore because something screwed up upon installation and now it refuses to install it again. All I get are error messages.

Yes, fixing an installation is a pain but it will help you in the long run.  You're asking for an aspirin to take away the pain of a broken leg.  Fix the leg.
My thought would be that even if you try to work a blu-ray with some other program, your system problems will cause it to have the same problem.
Try a simple uninstall of Adobe products, get and run the CS4 clean script, run whatever disk checking program you have on the system, do whatever maintainence is appropriate and then reinstall the Adobe apps, run the updaters and hopefully you'll be good to go.
It's a pain, but it will likely be worth it.

  • Which Blu-ray players play Encore BDs?

Other threads in this forum state that only some consumer Blu-ray players will play BD-R disks authored by Encore.  As I understand the situation, it has to do with a copy-protection code present in commercial Blu-ray disks but not on "amateur" disks burned on PC-mounted burners, and the insistence of some players, but not all, on finding that code.  In my experience BDs authored by Encore CS5 and burned on my LG BH10LS30 burner will play on a Panasonic SC-BT100 player and a Samsung BD-C5500 player, but not an LG BD390 player.
Is there a list of which players will play BD-Rs without the commercial copy protection code?  Or is there a way, other than buy-and-try to determine this information?  A claim to handle BD-R media appears insufficient since the LG player above makes that claim but rejects the same disks played by the other two.

Sony Outlet in Camarillo, CA.  The sales guys are on commission which probably helps.  I just told him my exact purpose and goal.
In my case it was one player on one TV.
I'm thinking if you just ask your local shop they would do the same (hopefully).

  • How to get lg BE14NU40 blue ray burner to work with fcp or compressor

how to get LG BE14NU40 Blue Ray Burner to work with FCP X or Compressor??

    Hello Ron,
First up, you don't have to use Compressor to burn a Bluray Disc.
FCP X can do this with it's own built-in software. Compressor of course can do the job.
In my experience some burners work and some don't.
I use an the older version of this burner:

    It works fine with Mac.
