  • How to update iphoto that was downloaded with old id with new id? my older id email does no longer exist :(

I downloaded iphoto years ago on my MBP but then changed my apple id a bit after, now that I need to update iphoto it asks for my older id bit i cant remember the questions and the email was does not exist anymore. what can I do?

You need to ask Apple to reset that account's security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • How to update iPhoto on my macbook air?

    Hi,
I bought a MacBook Air last year, which came with iLife pre- installed.
The iPhoto version is 9.1.1. It seemed a little buggy.
But for some reason I can't get auto update for it.  I tried to register it, hoping that this may solve the problem, but it requires a MPN number which I don't have.
I also tried to download the updates from Apple online download, they would not install.
Can anyone help resolving this problem? Any suggestions.
    Many thanks.
    John

    Thanks much.
Indeed after I moved back the apps, they are now updating. I guess that's  the trouble for being anal.
BTW, I think that I have rearranged other apps,  is there a way to find out which ones have been moved?  Or would it be safe just to move everthing back to the application folder?
    Thanks again.

  • Brand New Macbook Air. How to update iPhoto without giving postal address?

I have a brand new New Macbook Air. Since the same day I bought it I keep getting software update notifications for iPhoto and iMovie, but when I try to download them Apple asks for my postal address and phone numbers. This is outrageous. Apple will not allow me to leave any address fields blank. No way are they are  going to get my address to put on their database, I would rather switch off iPhoto and iMovie update notifications, but can't see a way to do this. Can anyone help?

Have you tried calling Apple Care?  They're very helpful and could help you trouble-shoot this.
I agree with you-- one should not have to give one's credit card and address information, unless one wants to, to get an update.
Even on a purely practical level, there are people who do not have credit cards.
One other thought-- these are updates, right?  Or, are they pitches for a new version of the software programs-- which could have to be purchased?  If they are new progrms, in which case, you would have to supply credit card and address to buy them.

  • Bought used Macbook, how to update iPhoto?

    All,
I bought a used Macbook about a year ago and have loaded my entire photo library onto it.  When in the appstore, i noticed iPhoto had updates available, and when i go to update it, it's trying to use the old owners Apple ID - and the user id is greyed out so I cannot override it.  This is the only app i've ever had an issue with updating.  Anyone have any ideas?

i would backup microsoft office then i would take the restore cds and completely restore the computer to its original state

  • How to update iPhoto events in iMovie 13?

When I use iMovie '13 to open my iPhoto library, I don't see the last few months of images. The most recent images are from October 2013... which is about when the new version of iMovie came out.
How can I force iMovie '13 to reload my iPhoto library and keep it current?

I found the problem! It's not iMovie... it's iPhoto. iPhoto is importing my events, but it isn't putting them in the correct chronological order. The newest events (from November and December) are listed below the October events (between October and September). Weird. But once I found them, there was no problem bringing them into iMovie. Thanks, all... guess I need to post this issue in a different forum!

  • How to Update iPhoto to 9.2.3

I have iLife '11 which came pre-installed on my mac.
I am running Mac OS 10.6.8.
Software update shows no further updates available.
MacAppStore is showing update 9.2.3 for iPhoto and 5.0.6 for Garageband.
Both updates will not install, i get a message, "You have updates available for other accounts. To update this application please sign in with the account you used to purchase it".
    What do i do ?.

Terence - your responses here are not up to your usual high standards.
I too am having this issue - and have started my very own thread on the issue.  I have version 9.2 of iPhoto - so can't delete photos from photostream.  So I finally tried to update.  No dice.
I too had the iLife Suite before upgrading to Lion.  After that upgrade, the iLife suite updated via Sofware Update just fine... until now.
iPhoto (and other iLife apps) do NOT show up in App Store list of "purchased" apps (because I already had it prior to Lion upgrade).
I am stuck (as is FaceInPalm).  This is all so illogical

  • HT5327 how do i update iphoto

i am unable to see how to update iphoto to 9.2.3   When I check for software updates there are none and i don't see the update prompt when i go to the mac apps store

What version of iPhoto do you have now?  If it's an earlier version of iPhoto 9 then use the appropriate updater, iPhoto 9.2.3, from the Apple Downloads webpage.
If your current iPhoto versoin is iPhoto 8 (09) or earlier you'll have to purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
The App Store only offers the latest version of iPhoto, 9.5, which requires Mavericks.
    Happy Holidays

  • Update IPhoto 5 on older Mac, how?

Hi there, I'm trying to find out how to update Iphoto 5 to a newer version. I have a iMac Intel Core Duo 2,4Gh running 10.6.8. Anyone?
In the app store, only new versions are available and my OS does not support these.
    Best,
    Merle

Buy an iLife DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay. The iLife 11 DVDs will install and run on 10.6.8.

  • After installing mavericks apple id is greyed out in app store when trying to update iPhoto

after installing mavericks apple id is greyed out in app store when trying to update iPhoto. How to update iphoto?

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • Updating iphoto for maverick

    How to update iphoto
I recently updated my Imac to maverick and for my iphoto to work it has to be upgraded to the latest  version,
however when I try to update iphoto, there is a message that says that for performing this operation I have to enter
the ID that was used when it was purchased and does nor allow me to use my current and valid appstore ID.
Since iphoto came originally with my new computer I don´t know what ID was used and it doesn´t even allow me to
    purchase the new version.
Can someone help me solve this problem ?

If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - try again.

  • How do i update iPhoto with another apple id?

Hi, I am trying to update iphoto and imovie as I can't use them with the new operating system I just installed. Problem is, is that my ex-husband's Apple ID is associated with the account as he originally bought the computer for me and loaded the apps. I've created my own Apple ID and have had to buy other apps but this one has no choice to buy it over again as it only shows his Apple ID. Is there any way to get these apps over to my Apple ID? If not how do I repurchase them when only his apple Id shows up?
    Thanks.

If not how do I repurchase them when only his apple Id shows up?
You should be able to buy the apps, if you trash the versions that are bound to your ex-husband's AppleID.
Delete the apps from the Applications folder, but don't empty the Trash, so you can recover them, if need be. The sign ito the AppStore with your new AppleID. The apps should now be showing with a price tag instead of "Purchased". Do they?
