How to update Mac OSX 10.7.5 to 10.9? It says Your software is up to date when i do the Software update check

Wowzah.  Not directed at you, but, like ouch!
£15 to have a minor OS refresh and bug fix, from a corporation with $$$ in cash in the bank, seems a bit tight to me.  Talk about making Microsoft look generous.. sheesh.
I run 10.8 on my MacBook pro and need 10.8 to run the xcode 5 dev tools on my work mac... I thought it would be a simple download, didn't realise we'd have to pay? Frankly the differences are in no way deserving of any price tag!
Apple - try being more generous, people might like you more instead of just resenting every time we have to deal with you.  The only fun bit seems to be walking out the door with the shiny new thing.

Not sure what exactly you did (or not), but it looks as if you should attempt doing it all again, only this time all right and by the book. Many millions have done so, and sure it'll work for you as well.
If you've indeed purchased ML already, you'll find it exactly there in the App Store: under Purchases.

  • Software update say "your software is up to date" but i only have 10.4.1

i just got this computer used and I wanted to get the newest itunes update but it says it needs 10.4.9 or newer.
so i click on the apple software update and it searches for a new update then it says "your software is up to date" but about this mac says i only have 10.4.1 and i want the 10.4.11.
What is wrong??? any help will be appreciated!!!

Hopefully you received the computer's original OS X
software packet with install/restore discs within it.
This, and if the computer had been upgraded to a
newer OS X version than the original installer's,
there should also be that retail installer disc, too.
There may be some system parts missing, and a
previous owner may have tried to use Trash to
get rid of private user accounts. If this happened,
there may be issues in the remaining system.
Can you further describe the exact computer model,
build date, and configuration of processor, RAM,
hard drive, so as to tell what it really is? There are
some that look quite a bit alike, but the insides are
often different enough and may have shipped with
    other hardware and software.
For some comparative information, you could get &
read through a database from http://mactracker.ca
which would show most every Apple computer made
and their specifications, build date, and model nos.
    Good luck & happy computing!

my iphone 5 is not letting me update to ios 7.  it's saying "your software is up to date"  at 6.1.4

If you have the original iPad 1, iOS 5.1.1 is as high as you can go with software updates.

  • HT1338 Need help locating where and how to update Mac OS-X 10.6.5 to the latest Mountain Lion Software...thanx John

I need help locating where and how to update Mac OS-X to Mountain Lion.....Thanx....Jay

First update your 10.6 version to 10.6.8 from the software update under the Apple Menu.
This will add direct access to the Mac App store via a new application.
Now launch the App Store from your Applications folder - Its the new icon a letter A formed from a ruler pencil and pen on a blue circle !
Once launched you need to add your iTunes account details or create an account add payment details etc...
Sign in purchase download and follow install processes to upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion.
OH and to be safe BEFORE you install backup your current system to an external drive !

  • How To update  Mac OSX 10.3.9 (Dual 1.8ghz)

I recently purchased an iPod Classic but it won't operate from my system (Which is lame!) ... I was considering updating from Panther to Tiger or Leopard (they seem to be the same price) ... I've read many posts about the new Leopard's bugs etc., also I'm about to start doing some pre production (music) from home using Pro-Tools --- And I read on the digi design site that Leopard is not compatible with their system as of yet ...After reading the post I'm leaning towards not getting Leopard until Apple works out the kinks - Now Tiger ... on the iPod Classic box it requires Mac OSX 10.4.8 (which I didn't see until I got home) --- It looks like on the apple site that Tiger runs 10.4.6 -- (***??) If I purchase this can I download a Tiger update 10 10.4.8 or higher ? I'm confused and frustrated ---
If I knew this I would have purchased an iPod Video 5th generation from one of the commercial stores (same size) and it runs on Panther... and it cheaper ...
PLEASE someone let me know what my best option would be ... beside returning the iPOD CLASSIC ...
I appreciate any help...and please excuse my frustration...

    Hi Jcverses!
    Here is some additional info.
Exactly which model Mac is it?
    What is the Processor speed?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
Note that the stated System Requirements for any version of OS X, are the bare Minimum.
As roam posted, once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), 10.4.x to 10.4.11 (Pending), and 10.5.x to 10.5.1 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If your Mac meets the Leopard System Requirements. Leopard 10.5.x, can be purchased at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased, sometimes less expensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, HardCore Mac, AllMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.
    Additional info in these links.

    Caveat Emptor!
If any are presently available, examine these items very carefully, and if in doubt, ask questions of the seller before purchase!
    Tiger On eBay
If your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, once Tiger 10.4.x is installed, you can use the PPC 10.4.11 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
If Leopard 10.5.x is installed, you would use the Mac OS X 10.5.1 Update.
Additionally, Tiger 10.4.x and Leopard 10.5.x, ship on a DVD, so if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you will have to use an alternative method of installation.

The Tiger Media Exchange Program, referred to in that article, is no longer available.

  • I had the IOS7 update and tried downloading but then it disappeared. It says my software is up to date and I can't get the IOS7 update back. How do I get it pushed to my phone again?

I had the IOS 7 update on my phone and tried to download but then the update disappeared on my phone. It says my software is updated like the IOS 7 update didn't ever exist. How do I get it pushed back out to my phone?

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to download it right now. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

how to update mac os x 10.5.8

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether further updates are required.
You should now see the App Store icon, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • Photoshop CS5 - colour settings in Print menu not working after update Mac OSX maverick

After upgrading to Maverick OSX on the iMac printing from CS5 via Epson R3880 is not working correctly. In Print Settings menu the drop downs for Colour and Colour Settings are greyed out. I already re-installed PS and installed the new drivers from epson. Any ideas?

but after choosing PS manages color, the options in the print menu for choosing color (color or b&W) and color settings are not available anymore. They used to be the last three years I printed with photoshop/epson 3880.
Instead they are greyed out now.

If Photoshop managed color, then the controls in the printer driver are supposed to be grayed out - that's how Apple specifies drivers to work (because only one party should be managing the print color).
So what you're describing is perfectly normal.

  • "Mac OSX cannot be upgraded to v.10.5 on your computer" --a brand new MBP.

I have a new MacBook Pro (one week old), which, according to the Mac store, was supposed to arrive with 10.5 already installed. Instead, I was sent the MBP along with the 10.5 installation disc ("Here, do it yourself!").
First, I updated to 10.4.11. Then I ran the 10.5 installation disc. I get the error message:
Mac OSX cannot be upgraded to v.10.5 on your computer. / Mac OSX v.10.4 or later could not be found on your computer.
What? Am I missing something really obvious? Any one else encounter this?
(After reading at least 20 topics in this forum, I'm afraid to run 10.5; as if it may just cause even more problems.)
So, if any one else has seen this error message, how did you resolve it?

I bet if you hadn't done that it would have worked fine.
Since it is a new computer, just re-partition the drive and install 10.5.
That won't work because the DVD will probably look for Tiger on the computer. The DVD is an upgrade not a full install, AFAIK from other posts.
The only solution is to reinstall Tiger and then Leopard. But why? If the OP bought a new machine with Leopard and it was not installed it's an older model and should be exchanged for a new one with Leopard preinstalled.
