How to update MacBook to OS X 10.7

Cannot figure this out

If the MacBook has a Core Duo processor, you can't. Otherwise, purchase Mac OS X 10.7 from the Mac App Store.

have snow loepard v6 on usb stick but doesnt seem to work?
    any ideas?

When you hold down the Option key when you hear the starting chime does the USB stick show up as a viable start-up disk? If not then you may have to buy and use the DVD.
The 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD is in the Apple online store. You can get it for $19.99. You will need to be running 10.6.8 to access the App Store to order Lion or Mountain Lion. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    System Requirements for 10.6:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible internet service provider: fees may apply.

  • How to update MacBook Pro system10.6.8 to 10.7.5

I Need to update MacBook Pro 1.1 Intel Core Duo, Memory 2 GB, speed 2 GHZ 667  MHZ Boot Ram Version.  I would like to use Turbo Tax but it apparently does not support 10.6.8.  And the printer also supports only from10.7.5 x-10.8x,10.9. I have copied all my Microsoft doc from Version 2004.  I appreciate any help you can give me.

Sorry, but your model cannot run Lion or later. A Mac Pro 1,1 can run Lion. Maybe that's what you have confused with your MacBook Pro. Your's is an obsolete model with a Core Duo processor. Running any version of OS X requires a Core 2 Duo processor. See these following requirements.
    Upgrading to Lion
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
          1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • How to update MacBook - no password, no CD

I got MacBook6,1 from a friend, she forgot her password and here CD is in a safe place home in South Africa and I`m in Bali. I cannot update software and it is Mac OS X version 10.6.1
I`m afraid that if I log out I won`t be able to log in back again and there is no Apple store near by!
This is what I have tried so far:
    1. Reboot
    2. Hold apple command + s key down after you hear the chime.
    3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
    4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and your good to go again!
Nothing happened. Any better solution? Thanks!

    Hey Jeldza,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like the Mac was not prepared for a transfer to your ownership. The following resource outlines the recommended steps to take before selling or giving away a Mac. You and/or your friend may wish to follow these:

  • How to update macbook pro

everytime i click software update it says its updated to the most recent one but its only uploaded to the
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.

You need to buy the next upgrade. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a Core Duo Mac running 10.4 or 10.5, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update. A Core Duo Mac can't be upgraded past 10.6.8.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, follow the Core Duo instructions, open the Mac App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you get told it's incompatible, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

  • How to update a MacBook Pro to the latest copy of Snow Leapard

I was wondering how do you update a MacBook Pro to the latest Snow Leopard? I have the software version I want and I held down c while I restarted it and got to the installer but it told me I needed a backup to install it. Is this true because I don't have a backup and I'm not sure how to get one with out spending a lot of money to go to apple or get a time machine. Can some one tell me how to update?
    Thanks

I think you can probably just bypass that message, but if you don't have a backup, sooner is a better time to make one than later. Get an external hard drive at least as large as your internal drive (a FireWire 800 drive is best, but USB is considerably cheaper), and use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable clone of your internal drive before you upgrade the OS. Then if things should go haywire during the upgrade, you'll be able to start up from the clone and clone it back onto the internal drive.
Using your computer without a backup of all your data is like driving an uninsured motor vehicle: you should never even think about it.

  • When trying to update and install Mountain Lion's 10.8.3 update from 10.8.2, the App Store will restart my computer but not install the update.  Any ideas on how to update my Macbook Pro 15" from 2008?

I was wondering, does anyone have an idea on how to update my Macbook Pro 15" to Mountain Lion's 10.8.3 from Mountain Lion's 10.8.2 version?  When I attempt to use the App Store, it will restart my computer but it will not install the update.  The update also still shows up in the App Store as available and when going to "About my Mac," it still shows the current version being 10.8.2.
    Computer:
    Macbook Pro 15" Aluminum Body
    Purchased Late 2008
    Current OS: Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    Original OS: Leopard

I will be attempting this fix this fix tonight:

how to update and new version for my macbook 10.5.8

First check if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.

  • Has anyone been able to contact Adobe to learn why their Flash Player does not work on Mac OS 10.6.8, no matter how many updates you install?  This seems like a big error by Adobe.

I have thee Mac computers with Mac OS 10.6.8, one of which is a Mac Pro.  No matter how many updates I install from Adobe, their Flash Player does not work on any of these 3 computers.  I don't know how to contact Adobe Systems about this problem, but I think it is their responsibility to make sure that their so-called "universal" software works proplerly on a relatively recent operating system like OS 10.6.8 that is still in widespread use.  When you install the updates, nothing happens -- not even an error message.  What is the point of a universal player that is not universal?  It works fine on my MacBook Pro with OS 9 Mavericks, but it does not work at all -- indeed, has never worked -- on my 3 Macs with OS 10.6.8.  Has anyone contacted Adobe Systems to find out why the Flash Player does not work with OS 10.6.8 and what they plan to do about it?

Where are you getting Flash from?
Get the appropriate dmg installer here and then run it.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
If it still won't install, do these two things: First uninstall any Flash by going into the second level Hard Drive Library>Internet Plug-ins, and trash the Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt. Then boot into Safe Boot, Shift at the startup chime (give it much longer than a usual boot) and run the installer while booted in Safe Boot.
