How to update OS on my second mac, if my first mac has newer version (both macbook pro 13")
First, I have bought Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011 with Lion installed.
Secondly I have bought Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion installed.
Now, how can I update my 2011 mac to Mountain Lion if I have it on my 2012 mac?
If I visit AppStore from my 2012 mac it still tells me I have to buy Mountain Lion in order to download it.
PS: I have created bootable USB by restoring its contents using Disk Utility from Recovery HD of my 2012 mac.
You'll have to buy Mountain Lion for your 2011 that came with Lion.

I am not quite sure why you are posting this in an iMac forum. However try resetting Disk Permissions using Disk Utility. If that fails do a Safe Boot and also reset the PRAM and SMC. If these fail then please repost in the MacBook Pro forum OR the Mavericks forum. -
My mac has OSX version 10.8.2 and I'm try to install an aiport express base station which requires 10.5.7 or later. Yet when I try to install the software it says the base station is not compatible with my mac version - how do I resolve?
You already have the software installed that you need if you have 10.8.2.
If AirPort Utility cannot find the Express, that is another matter. More software is not needed. More troublehooting is needed.
Power up the Express for a full minute
Hold in the reset button on the Express for 7-8 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Look for a heading of New AirPort Base Station
Just below that, click on AirPort Express

Yes. Always keep the default settings unless you have a specific reason not to.
If you are a heavy user of Java programs or applets, you may need to clear the cache files after Java updates because the old caches may interfere. -
How to install Mac OS 9 on my MacBook Pro?
I have recently bought a MacBook Pro. It came with the Mac OS X Tiger operating system. However, I need Classis environment for one of the programs that I wish to use so I went on and bought a new Mac OS 9 install CD, which I tried to install onto my machine by booting up from the CD-Rom. When I try and follow the instructions on the CD, i.e. "Hold down the C key as your computer starts up" it does not seem to do anything. The computer boots up in the Mac OS X as if I have no Mac OS 9 install disk inserted in my drive.
If anyone could give me any help as to how I would be able to install the Mac OS 9 on my MacBook Pro I would be more than happy.
Note: I have got my hard drive partitioned into two partitions.
I am looking forward to some suggestions/answers as to where my problem actually is.
Thx.Hi, gmujkic. OS 9 and Classic are not supported by the Intel processor in your MacBook Pro. None of the Intel Macs, as shipped, runs Classic applications. Nowhere in any of the literature on the Intel Macs will you find any hint of Classic support. It would have been wiser to look into this before buying the MacBook Pro — you might have decided to buy a Powerbook G4 instead.
Third-party hacks/emulators allowing you to run OS 9 apps may be in the works, but Apple will not support them. Use them, if/when they appear, at your own risk, and subject to whatever limitations they may impose on your ability to run the Classic software you like. -

It did not bring the music over. Apple's instructions are to use the Home Sharing feature of iTunes.
Open iTunes on your old Mac. Select Home Sharing under the Advanced menu. Sign in. Do the same on your new computer. Then when the library appears under Home Sharing on the left-hand panel on your new computer's iTunes, you can select all and Add To Library.
That's what Apple says, anyway. -

Ram, you need a minimum of 2GB, but 4GB (or more) is recommended.
HDD, you need a minimum of 20GB of hard disk space (including space for operation)
So.
Go to Apple>About this Mac and you will be able to see the amount of Ram installed.
Then select your hard drive (in Finder>Sidebar, usually called MacintoshHD) and click cmd-i (Command key and the letter I) look for capacity and available, post the results here. -

When I first attempt to power on my MacBook Pro, the LED blinks but the MBP doesnt turn on. However when I try a second time the LED blinks but my Mac turns on. Is this a problem with the hardware and can it be fixed?
Also, I apparently have to replace my battery. Could the problem have any relevance to a dead battery?Have you held the power button down for 10+ seconds? That should turn it off.

In that case... Install it on your New Mac using the Disc(s) and have all your Serial Numbers handy in case you are asked for them during the Install.
After the successful install... run Software Update to get any and all Updates... Then Restart your Mac and you should be good to go.
