You may wish to try out a new (free) browser altogether. Both of us here are responding using Firefox <https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/> of some very late model version (? unless babowa has changed recently?)
Latest Version of FF seems to be compatible with what you report abut your system

  • How to update safari browser after installing snow leopard

    Hi,
I had been having trouble for a week and couldnt get online at all. Then I updated to snow leopard just before and I can get online with firefox. My safari web browser still isnt working. Each download I use to update states it is too old for snow leopard yet I cant find any close to it on the internet to help me update it so I can use it with the snow leopard. Anyone have any suggestions? The firefox isnt working that great either but its better than nothing. Also, what web browsers are you mostly using? Thank you in advance

Hello, I try to avoid Safari myself, but are you really on 10.5.6 & not 10.5.8 yet?

  • How can I get an updated safari browser?

Hi.  I have a Macbook Pro, Mac OS X, version 10.6.8; I am getting error messages about updating my browser.  I checked the apple store to see if I could download a new version of Safari, but could not.  How can I get an updated safari browser at this time without downloading the new OS X Yosemite.  I know I might need to download the Yosemite, but would prefer to wait untill all the glitches are fixed.  I have learned that the Yosemite may cause wifi failure and e-mail connection problems.  Since I am not a computer expert, I don't need the headaches trying to figure out how what is wrong and how to fix a bug, so I would prefer to wait untill apple has totally fixed all the glitches that the Yosemite has. In the meanwhile, I just need to know how to go about updating a newer version of safari. I thing I have a 5.0
I would be greatfull for your help or response.

Safari 5.1.10 is the newest version for Snow Leopard, and all available Mac OS X upgrades other than Yosemite require a purchase. You may want to switch to another browser, such as Firefox, temporarily.

  • How to update safari, how to update safari

how to update safari, how to update safari ???

You will normally update Safari via software update.   The latest version is Safari 6 but that is for Lion and Mountain Lion.   Your machine version is not known as you have not completed your profile so if it is earlier than this 5.1.7 would be for you.   You can download via  Download Apple Safari for Mac - Fast and elegant Web browser. MacUpdate.com     Hope this solves your problem.

  • How to reinstall safari browser in my emac power G4 running classic?

how to fix my start-up not open classic and how to reinstall safari browser?

There is no Classic version of Safari.   The earliest version of Safari came out in 2003 and could run on Mac OS X 10.2.   In order to run Safari and Mac OS 9 side by side, you need Mac OS X 10.4.11 or earlier installed to have Classic.
Mac OS X 10.3 was the first to include Safari prebundled.
Your 10.4 installer discs include Safari, which you can extract with http://www.charlessoft.com/ Pacifist.
Your eMac installer discs include the restore application to reinstall Classic environment:

I have a safari browser 5.1 version, how can I update safari browser

You need to upgrade the computer's OS or switch to a product such as Firefox.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • How do I update Safari browser?

I'm getting messages on certain websites like gmail and pinterest telling me my browser is out of date and I need to update my broswer. I click on the link which takes me here: http://www.apple.com/safari/ Good information on how cool Safari is, but nowhere does it tell me how to update or upgrade or download or purchase. How do I??
FYI, MacBook OS X 10.6.8 and no software updates are available.

    HI,
    Similar problem here....
I'm using Safari 8 and Yosemite 10.10, but some sites (iCloud.com, outlook.com, Pinterest, Garmin, Google, ) informs I'm using a non supported version,  like Safari 4 or older.   My iMac is a 27" 2011  2TB  16GB Ram.
In my Macbook and my Old 20" iMac with Yosemite 10.10,  Safari 8 is working well.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • How to make Safari browser always open a new web page in a new Safari browser window which was clicked from a PDF document URL

    Hi
I have a web application which would enable users to see a list of PDF document on the web page and when the user select the PDF document, it will be open by a adobe PDF view
Within the content of the PDF document, it will contact URL links to some other portal web pages which we would like these other web pages to be open in a new browser window, but our testing shows that the new web pages may not always open in a new browser window.
Could you help to advise how I can enforce that new web pages that are clicked from the PDF document can always be open in a new Safari browser window ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sen Lee

    Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • I need to unlock my ipad, lost passcode, I need  to know how to update safari so I can finish step 4 to back up.

I have a apple iPad mini I bought new last year in November.  I don't know much of anything else except it has 16GB. There aren't any other problems
besides me forgetting the passcode. I have tried to get help from apple support but seemed to go in circles.  It has been off for 2 weeks, they had me
update the iTunes and I tried to do the passcode but now it wants me to update Safari. I don't know where to find it.
I AM getting ready for step 4, but I don't know what that is. There was a back up or manual back up for all my data so I don't lose it, that is where I stopped,
just after step 3 was completed. I am completely lost.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software.
    If nothing above helps:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • How to update Safari on Snow Leopard IMac

I have an IMac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Have occasion to run Mail Chimp and it says Safari needs to be updated.  I've run my Software Update in the Apple Logo drop down box and it reports that all updates are already complete.  Why would Mail Chimp say that the Safari program was not adequate to use their program?
Is there another way to update Safari?  I see something called "Safari Extensions" on the drop down for Safari.  Would this be what I need to load?  They are all various commercial programs that hook up to Safari.

    1. If you're using Safari 5.1.10, it's up to date as far as Snow Leopard is concerned. Going further requires upgrading the computer's OS.
    2. Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download Mavericks from the Mac App Store.

  • I have Safari 5.1.10 on my iMac 10.6.8.  How to update Safari to 6.  Constantly told browser is outdated.

I have Safari 5.1.10 on my iMac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Constantly told need to update browser to 6.0.  Software Update indicates no update available.  What can I do?

One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won’t have to go though the revert process.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.
