How to update to 2.3.3 on mac osx?

Hi,
I would like to upgrade my Xperia Arc to the latest firmware but it says i need to update through my computer.
How do I do this without using a PC?
Can i skip this update and will the next firmware update be possible to perform on the device?
/oscar

You can perform the update from the phone itself.
Go to the Setttings Menu  --> Scroll down to About phone ---> Software Update  --> Accept
If you skip, I believe it should still be possible

Yes. Don't worry, Apple won't let you download something that requires a purchase before actually paying.

How can I download a dvd on my mac osx 10.7.4?

I am assumming these DVDs are your own personal property and are NOT rented or borrowed DVDs.
Once again, assuming that you own these DVDs, I recommend using Mac DVDRipper Pro to extract the content from your PERSONAL DVDs. I have it installed on my computer and it rips DVD's at maximum speed and uses very little processing power.
You can find more info. about Mac DVDRipper Pro at the following link...

  • New Ipod Classic How to update to new Itunes with older Mac

I have replaced Ipod Classic today, old one died. I have my library on Mac. New IPod needs itunes update and Mac OSX 10.5.8 can not support latest update. Classic needs update 9 or later.  How do I download an earlier Itunes to use new IPod?

That iPod classic requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer. Mac OS X 10.6 DVDs are available on the online Apple Store; they require an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM.

  • Can I update the operating system on my Mac OSX 10.5.8

How can I update my Mac OSX 10.5.8 to a newer operating system?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it's already running the newest OS it can.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, follow the Core Duo instructions, and if desired, open the Mac App Store, and try downloading 10.9. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

  • How do I get icloud to work on mac osx v10.6?

My computer, MAC OSX v10.6.8 is not showing an icloud icon in Preferences.  It has a mobil me icon but when clicked it says it has been moved to icloud.  My ipad, iphone and Mac are not syncing.  Help!

You need Core2Duo or better (i3/i5/i7) processor and 2 GB memory (but some would recommend 4 GB) ...
Apple Menu > About This Mac  ... this is mine
As to "should I be scared?" ...
You sound like you mtch the first/major criteria ... you *need* it to synch with your mobile devices.  Others are just "following the crowd" and have little other reason.
You should not be scared.  Tens (hundreds?) of thousands currently run Lion without issue.  And this forum helps with the issues you have.
You really need to have a good "clone" of your system beofre you start in case the process goes badly (rarely does it, but you want to be able to recover and start again).  And there is a new set of "how to recover" in Lion becase it uses a "hidden partition" called "Recovery Partition" instead of disks ... but that is all just stuff to learn, not to be afraid of.
First, check the hardware, then post back if you wish.

  • How to update covers in iTunes Match from Mac to iPhone?

While importing a CD to iTunes I made the mistake in adding afterwards a wrong cover. I recognized this mistake after updating/refreshing iTunes Match and downloading the new album on my iPhone. In iTunes I changed the cover to the correct one. But the wrong cover is still on my iPhone. Updating/refreshing iTunes Match is not resolving this issue.
Any idea on how to resolve this issue?

    Try this:
drag and drop the album in a folder on your desktop (the metadata and cover will be saved)
    delete the album in itunes.
    sync iTunes Match
import the album back from the desktop folder.
    sync iTunes Match
however, you will lose 5 star ratings if you saved any and listening counter.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • How do update latest operating system to my mac 10.4.11

My mac is outdated and doesn't even support my iphone.....I tried to download the new lion operating sytem but it said I need to have Leopard already installed, so I realized I'm starting a journey that may have no end!  Bascially my current mac is five years old with the 10.4.11 software, I'm trying to discover a way to download the latest software, or even something that is close to the latest.....So do I have to go back and download 5 operating systems concurrently, or what is the process.  I was about to order the Leopard operating system and thought I better figure this out in case it gets here and my computer won't download it because my system isn't ready for it.  On a similar note, is this software available to download online or do I have to order discs and wait for them in the mail?  I realize my tech savvy is coming through at the elementary level it is, I just am trying to get the most out of my Apple products and add an Apple TV and wondering if this Mac has any life left in it.  I am more than willing to buy lots of software, I'm sure its more cost effective then a new Mac....Anyways if anyone is willing to tackle this and give the right advice or even point me in the right direction I would be very grateful!  Thanks, Josh

You purchase Mac OS X 10.6 on DVD from a place such as the online Apple Store, run Software Update, and if desired and possible, use the Mac App Store to purchase Lion.

  • How to update JRE to 1.7 on Mac

    Hi.
I am using Mac OS X version 10.9.3.
I want to update JRE to 1.7. I have already installed JRE 1.7.0_65.
But it install JRE to other location and default JRE given by Apple still exits in System folder.
    Regards,
    Ranjan

Normal behavior, since you can have both installed. I do. Check the versions installed, using the Terminal app.
To determine the Java 7 version, use:
    /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java -version
    java version "1.7.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_65-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.65-b04, mixed mode)
    For Java 6, run:
    java -version
    java version "1.6.0_65"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-10M4609)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)

  • How to update my new email on my Mac for icloud

I have changed to a gmail account and have managed to update my iphone and ipad.  However, my Mac does not seem to recognize the change, when I go into system preferences it still shows my old email address and it won't let me make any changes.  Please advise me as to what I need to do.
    Thank you,

Well, you shouldn't necessarily edit the old email address.  You should add the new one.  Go under the File menu >> Add Account.

  • How to connect Photosmart C4795 to Wireless Network - Mac OSX 10.8.4

I am desperately confused here!  When I bought the printer 2-ish years ago I was able to set it up and have it connected to my network no problem.  Since then I have moved and updated my OS to Mountain Lion and lost my installation CD.  As of now, this is where things stand.
When I turned the printer on and connected it to my iMac via the USB cable, the computer found it and installed it with no issues.  I can print with no issues when the USB cable is plugged in.
Using the printers built in display, I have run the HP Network Configuration and the Wireless Network Test.  The printer can see my network, but it won't connect to it.  I have no bloody idea where I need to go to enter my network password so the printer can get online.
I've manually downloaded the HP Driver found at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907  and that put the HP Utility on my computer (which was already there) but I don't see any place in the utility software that would let me enter my network password or even configure network settings for the printer.
My router is an Apple Airport Extreme, and the firmware is up to date.  Everything on my computer seems to be up to date.  I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this thing online.  Any help would be greatly appreciated =)

Yup, there is no way to install your printer using OS X 10.8, sorry.
However, there are alternatives.  Here is the easiest way:
    1. On the front of the printer: Setup [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
    2. In the same Wireless menu, start WPS Pushbutton.
    3. On your Mac go to Applications > Utilities > Airport Utility.  Choose your Airport and click Edit.
    4. In the menu bar at the top of your screen go to Base Station > Add WPS Printer.
    5. Choose the FIrst Attempt mode, then Continue.
Now your printer should be connected to your wireless network.  Next, go to System Prefs > Print & Scan, click the '+' sign to add your printer.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
