How to Upgrade Azure search service ?

Hi,
How can i Upgrade Azure search service from Pricing tier FREE to STANDARD(PAID VERSION)?
I have a Azure search service named https://l******.search.windows.net
where it contain some document and index, but i has limit of 10000 document for free
so help me out to Upgrade Azure search service for uninterpreted service ?

Unfortunately we don't yet have an upgrade option currently. You'll need to create a new standard service and re-run the code that created the index and loaded the documents.

  • Clustered Primary key in Azure search service

    Hi ,
Can you please let us know if it is possible to created Clustered Primary Key in Azure Search Service.
We are unable to set the isKey property for more than one field in the index.
Also can you providers some pointers on enabling search against multiple indexes. we have a use case where the search has to be performed against 3 different tables and the results set is a combination of all the 3 tables.
    Thanks,

Since you mentioned setting the key property for more than one field, I think you're looking for compound keys, not clustered, is that correct? We don't support compound keys in Azure Search, to work around this you can concatenate (with a separator) the
all parts of the key into a single string value and use it in Azure Search.
Regarding multiple indexes, you can't search across multiple indexes in the same request right now. If you have different source tables and don't mind having them in the same index, you can index the content of the 3 tables into a single index (that has
the combined/overlapped columns of all) and then search that index.

  • Telemetry Support in Azure Search Service

Does Azure Search Service provides any out-of-the-box telemetry support?
For, example, does it store any data relating to which keyword has been searched the maximum number of time, or which filter has been applied more number of times, etc.

    Hi Pratik,
Not yet, although this has certainly been on our radar. I encourage you to submit specific asks on Azure Search UserVoice at
http://feedback.azure.com/forums/263029-azure-search. That'll let other users vote and great help us prioritize features in this area.

  • Exposing Azure Search Service through API Management

    Hi everyone,
I've just setup the API Management and customised the portal for the APIs i'd like to manage. One of the APIs is actually an Azure Search instance. The only problem i can see is that the JSON response from the Azure Search contains a couple of URLs that
tie back to the Search, I've tried to add a policy to mask the URLs in the response, but it doesn't quite get it right and the resulting URLs don't work.
So, is it possible to properly expose the Search service through the API Management service with properly masked URLs?
    thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Miao,
    thanks for your quick response.
Although I don't need to know a specific date - i'd be interested if there is a target for when this functionality may be added? e.g. 2 months, 6 months?
I'm evaluating the technology at the moment for a deliverable required in a couple of months and will need to decide whether to wait or develop a wrapper around the search service that removes the data we don't want exposed.
    thanks,

  • Search Service Application problems after upgrading from Foundation to Enterprise edition of SharePoint 2013

Hi all. I have been searching for days for a solution to a problem I am having with SP2013 Enterprise edition.
We recently upgraded from SP2013 Foundation to SP2013 Enterprise. After the upgrade, the search services are no longer working and we are receiving many application log entries indicating the following:

I have tried to remove the search service application and recreate it, and even though the SharePoint Central Administration states that it was created successfully, I am still getting the same errors in the log. If I go to the Search Service Application

The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component '0359af35-0982-4ede-8838-b1d390e915bf' in search application 'Search Service Application' is in a good state and

Additionally, under the "Search Application Topology" section, it states "Unable to retrieve topology component health states. This may be because the admin component is not up and running" which I assume is normal if the admin is not
    running.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joaquin,
According to your description, the error occurred when you re-created the Search Service Application.
Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
       1. Check if the association between the Search Service Application proxy and the web application is configured.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Configured service application associations > Click Default to see if the Search Service application is checked.
       2. Change the app pool for the Search Service Application to SharePoint Web Services Default in the properties of the Search Service Application.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage service applications > Highlight the Search Service Application > Click Properties in the ribbon > Change
the two app pool to SharePoint Web Services Default: App Pool For Search Admin Web Service and Application Pool for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service.
        3. Run PS command to check if the search admin timer job is enabled: Get-SPTimerJob
job-application-server-admin-service | fl. If it is not enabled, use PS command to enabled it and then reset Internet Information Services: Enable-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service.
    Best regards.

  • Can Azure Search support indexing of documents (pdf, doc etc)

    Hi,
I want to implement the azure search service indexing of documents (pdf, docs etc). is it possible ? if yes, then how ?
    Thanks

    Hi Shib,
I wanted to respond with a few ideas based on your question.  As of today, we do not have a document cracker for Azure Search to allow you to index the content from files such as the ones you suggested.  This is a pretty highly requested feature
(http://feedback.azure.com/forums/263029-azure-search/suggestions/6328662-blob-indexing-w-file-crackers), but we have not too date been able
    to prioritize this.
In the meantime, somethings you might consider looking at are iFilter or Apache Tika.  These are both great options that would allow you to programmatically extract the text from these files.  Based on the extracted text you could then post the
content to Azure Search.  I personally think this example on CodeProject is a pretty good starting point if you were to consider using iFilter:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/13391/Using-IFilter-in-C
    I hope that helps.

  • Problem rename sharepoint 2010 search service application admin database

    Hi all,
i have a problem that hopefully someone has an answer to.  i am not too familiar with sharepoint so please excuse my ignorance.
we have sharepoint 2010 on a windows 2008r2 server.  everything seems to work fine.  but as you know, the default database names are horrendous.  i have managed to rename all of them, except for the "search service application" admin
    database.
    the default is: Search_Service_Application_DB_<guid>
the other 2 databases (crawl and property) were renamed without a problem.
we are following the article from technet on how to rename the search service admin db (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-nz/library/ff851878%28en-us%29.aspx).  it says to enter the following command:
$searchapp | Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication -DatabaseName "new database name" -DatabaseServer "dbserver"
however, i get an error about identity being null.  no big deal, i add the -Identity switch and the name of my search service application.  but the real problem comes the error it throws:
Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication : The requested database move was aborted as the associated search application is not paused.
    At line:1 char:54
    + $searchapp | Set-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication <<<<  -Identity "Search Service Application" -DatabaseName "SharePoint2010_Search_Service_Application_DB" -DatabaseServer "dbserver"
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (Microsoft.Offic...viceApplication:

      nvalidOperationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Cmdlet.SetSearchS
       erviceApplication
when i look at the crawling content sources, i see "Local SharePoint Sites" and it's status is Idle.  i even looked at this article on how to pause the search to no avail.  (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee808864.aspx)
does someone know how i can rename my Search Service Applcation Admin database properly?  or at least "pause" that service so i can rename it?
    thank you all in advanced

If you want to have no guids for your search admin db, i recommend you check out this script :)

  • Sorted dynamic list problem - Azure Search Index

    Hello Everyone,
Let's consider following problem: Vote app - we have 1000 NBA players and we want to create an app which first: let user vote for a player he wants to see in the All Star Game, second: user gets current rank list (example: Michael Jordan 1st - 1M votes,
    Derrick Rose 2nd - 0,9M votes, .. , Freddy Kruger - 999th - 0 votes and so on).
Question: what is the best structure that can be implemented here to keep this data sorted? I would like to query this data source already sorted - it is not allowed to get the list of 1000 and sort locally in app. For example: 800 players can have 0 votes
and I do not want to download their names just to display '0 votes' next to their names. I would like to get only 50 with highest score at the moment. Index should be refreshed-rebuild after each new POST-vote request.
Can Azure Search service and its Index help me to solve this problem? The perfect .NET SortedList synchronized structure would look like this [votes][name]:
    SortedList[99982]['Michael Jordan']
    SortedList[89921]['Derrick Rose']
    SortedList[0]['Freddy Kruger']
SortedList[0]['Ace Ventura'] -> but SortedList does not allow the 0 KEY to appear twice.
    Regards,

    Hi pr0t,
It should be straightforward to get the data you want using the $orderby, $filter, and $top options. For example, if you have a field named vote, you could include this in your search request:
    /indexes/players/docs?$orderby=vote desc&$filter=vote gt 0&$top=50
This will give the top 50 players by vote in descending order by vote. You can then put the data in whatever data structure you like on the client.
One thing to be aware of though is the way you update votes in the index. We highly recommend batching index updates as much as possible rather than updating one document at a time. You can have up to 1000 documents in a single batch when indexing. This
reduces overhead and indexing pressure on your search service.
    Hope this helps,
    -Bruce

Hi, I need help with my iphone four bought in England but I live in Italy, I upgraded IOS six and now I can not read more than the Italian card, how can I contact a service center via email?

Only the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Sounds like the phone was hacked to unlock it originally. Find out what carrier it is locked to, and look up their contact information using google or the search engine of your choice.

  • Upgrade Search Service Applications

Is there any reason why we want to upgrade the service applications (using database attach) like secure store, user profile, search service.. rather than re-creating them manually? We are trying to upgrade from SP 2010 to SP 2013 and was stuck
figuring out how to go with service applications.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi  AparnaT,
There are six service applications that we can be upgraded: business data connectivity, performance point service, search service, user profile service, managed meta data web service and secure store service.
All of them have databases  which contains many important data. Such as the Business Data Connectivity service uses a database to store information about external data, the Managed Metadata service uses a database to store metadata information, the Search
service application Administration database contains settings for the Search service application such as content sources, crawl rules, start addresses, server name mapping, and federated locations, the
User Profile service uses databases to store profile, social, and sync information. So we need to upgrade the service applications rather than re-creating them manually.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From your post, I cannot quite tell the specific process you are attempting...so I will give you everything...
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    6) Disconnect your PC from the internet and turn off all radios on your BB (consider also removing the SIM...not likely necessary, but just in case)
76a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
7b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 7a or 7b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
Good luck and let us know!

  • How to properly create and configure SharePoint 2013 Search service with PowerShell?

    Hello Forum,
I have installed SharePoint 2013 across three tier servers:
WFE Server  (Of course, SharePoint is installed here. Bsically this is just a Web server)
APP Server  (Of course, SharePoint is installed here + Central Admin + Service Apps).
    SQL Server
I now want to create and configure the Search service, obviously on the APP Server, But of course the search functionality should work correctly on the WFE server to.
I want to do this via a proper PowerShell script. I found Spence Harbar's script on: (http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2013mt.aspx), But it has three problems, and they are as follows:
    1) Spence Harbar himself literally stated on his article that this script is for: "deploying on a single server farm", But what if I have three tier servers? Could anyone please help me out in suggesting the required tweaks in the
    script?
    2) By default Search uses the SP_Farm account, So, How can I change the script to use other dedicated account for the search service e.g. SP_SearchAcc ?
    3) How can I modify the script to specify a default Search center?
    4) Apart from all the three aforementioned point - Is the script missing anything?
I would greatly appreciate your inputs - Thanks !

the only differences are where you place the components.  if you are doing a small server farm with a 1-1-1, most likely you just need to change the script so that you set the index and query processing component on the front end, but the others on
the app server.  just a 2 second update... just keep in mind this will work, but I am making several assumptions without any knowledge of your farm, users, capabilities.
generally, there would be more of a breakout on the topology than that, but im guessing for this farm that you wont have dedicated search servers.  also, a lot depends on # users (rps really), # items in index, size of VMs (RAM for query processing,
Disk for index, etc, etc), and making sure the topology works for your particular environment and needs.
if you want more detailed topology help, which aligns as closely as possible to "best practices" (not that those exist in SharePoint, go ahead and provide the total # users, average/peak RPS for search, current index size, content source types,
VM specs RAM, CPU, #/Size of drives, HA concerns/priority (obviously isn't, since only 1-1-1)
