How to upgrade Internet Explorer on PosReady 7 ?

Hi!
I am in the process of building an image of PosReady 7 and I need to install Internet Explorer 10 on it and have already created an installer with IEAK 10 for my regular Windows 7 Ent clients. This installation worked for Posready 7 as well but there where
a bug where ie4uinit.exe crashed when logged on for the first time, also, the security patches for IE 10 on Win Ent did not work on Posready.
So I was thinking that maybe it did not like my installer created from IEAK 10 so I uninstalled my version and search on windows update. No results, just patches for IE8. Why can't I update IE on PosReady?
While doing some searching I realized that it was not the same installer for posready and Win 7 ent, found this link for example saying that you can log in to MyOEM to download it:
http://www.elbacom.com/node/756
Well, I have not access there cause I am no OEM or have a partnership with Microsoft so what I am supposed to do ?
Stick with IE8? That will create some compatibility issues and I suspect that version is not as secure as IE10 and IE11?
What I am supposed to do? Why is it so hard to upgrade IE on PosReady machines ?
Please help
Thanks!

From Microsoft ou will see IE is not available for the Mac:

You can try the web page in Safari (which is already installed), or
try downloading and installing firefox (download from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) or
try google chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/?brand=CHMA&utm_campaign=en&utm_so urce=en-ha-na-us-bk&utm_medium=ha)

    Dear All,
How to stop Internet Explorer upgrade to IE 10 & IE 11
In our environment we have around 300 workstations.I need to stop all of the machine users from manually downloading and installing IE.Also how do it stop the IE from updating using Group policy on windows server 2008 & windows server 2003.
All users machine are on windows 7.
Basically i want all users to get restricted to IE9.
    Thanks ..

    Hi Mike,
    >>Basically i want all users to get restricted to IE9.
Internet Explorer 10 will be available as an “Important” update through the Automatic Update feature of Windows Update. Users of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, who have opted to
download and install updates automatically through Windows Update (recommended setting), will automatically be upgraded to Internet Explorer 10.
However, we can prevent users from upgrading to IE 10 via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.
Regarding how to prevent users from upgrading to IE10 or IE11, the following two articles can be referred to for more information.

    Hi,
Internet Explorer 8 is not compatible to install in Windows 8/8.1 PC.
As Rob suggested, we could use Internet Explorer 10 (In Windows 8) or Internet Explorer 11 (In Windows 8.1) developer tools to emulate IE8,
Using the F12 developer tools; Or build a Virtual Machine.
Besides, here is the download page:

  • How to download internet explorer

Does anyone know how to download internet explorer ?

Probably because there's a ton of website that require IE to run properly.
That said, unfortunately all you can do is run Windows in a VM environment like Parallels or VMWare Fusion to get your IE fix on.  Sorry.

  • How to close Internet Explorer and other programs running on Windows?

In order for Flash Player to be installed or updated, any programs that use Flash Player must be closed.  This includes Internet Explorer or other browsers, instant messengers, Skype, etc.
These programs may be running in the background, not as visible windows, but need to be closed anyway.
To close such programs use the Windows Task Manager.  To start Task Manager, take any of the following actions:
Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
    Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
Once the Task Manager is running, select the Processes tab.  On older Windows version you may need to click on the Process Name or Image Name header to sort the process names.
Now right-click on every process that the Flash Player installer needs to close (e.g. iexplore.exe), then select End Process.
It would be desirable if the Flash Player installer could perform that action by itself; I have therefore created an enhancement request.  If you were affected by this problem, please head over to the Bugbase and vote for this request: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3548136

I am a new Mac user and have just encountered a third part software that does not appear to be supported through Safari; thus I am receiving the following message when I attemt to log onto the system:
"Our system currently supports the following browser versions: Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 8, and Firefox 4 through Firefox 7. We have detected that you are using an unsupported browser. While you still may be able to use the system, depending on the browser, it is possible that you may run into technical issues that we cannot support. Please consider installing one of the browsers listed above to improve your experience with our system."
Bypassing this message only yields a Server Runtime error.
Why don't you just download Firefox, 4 through 7 are supported, or if you insist on using Internet Explorer, use Windows.

  • How to stop internet explorer dialog box

Hi all. I'm new here. I've just added a flash image ( a moving one ) to my web page. It's like a moving logo. I've used this code

  • How to remove Internet Explorer Maintenance with Windows 8

In order to edit group policy preferences for Internet Explorer 10 and newer, we are editing group policy exclusively with GPMC installed on a Windows 8 computer. I have the understanding that once you edit group policy with a newer OS, it shouldn't be edited
with an OS prior.  Now we are ready to remove policy settings using Internet Explorer Maintenance by clicking "Reset Browser Settings" for that policy node.  However, IEM is not visible with Windows 8.  Is it safe to go against best
practice and edit group policy with for example GPMC installed on a Windows 2003 server just to remove IEM policy?  Is there a better way to accomplish this task?
    Thank you

The DLLs for IEM are removed when a computer is upgraded to IE10/IE11 (or if it ships with IE10/IE11).
This means that you can't remove the IEM settings from a GPO, unless you have a machine that has an older (IE9 or less) browser.
    You can either;
    a) delete the GPOs which you already know do contain IEM settings (here's a tip on how to find those:
    http://deployhappiness.com/tracking-down-rouge-cses-ie-maintenance-addition/ )
    b) use a computer which has an older browser, with GPMC/RSAT on it, to do the "IEM Reset".
I would not use WS2003 for this, since WS2003 doesn't understand ADMX, and you might have already used a newer OS to author settings into that same GPO. I would use WS2008R2 or Win7 to do this (ensuring that the browser on that computer is IE8 or IE9 and is
    not IE10 nor IE11)

  • G4 with OS 9 want to upgrade internet explorer with 5.0

    Hello
I am trying to upgrade my G4. I have it operating on OS 9 and can't upgrade to OS X as not enough memory. I can only run Internet explorer 5.0 and don't know how to upgrade without having OS X. I also can't seem to download any flash programs as well. So pretty much any website I try to access does not work well. I have OS X discs from my other Mac and wonder if I should restore the computer and remove all applications and start fresh? I currently use an emac and got this G4 from my husbands friend. I see it has a lot of applications installed, most of which I don't need, but a few that may be useful...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The video PCI or AGP card/slot is inside your Mac. It should be what your monitor is connected to.
Your type of G4 came in 3 configurations in 4 different speeds with 2 different video options.
There are 350, 400, 450 & 500 mhz CPU versions. And early 350 mhz models had PCI graphics card and used a 66mhz PCI graphics slot. Later 350-500 mhz models had 2X AGP slots that came in either 16 MB video RAM or 32 MB video RAM version. The standard was 16 MB VRAM with only the top speed having the option of a 32 MB VRAM card
The back of your Mac should have some sort of marking/plate or sticker that should tell you what the CPU speed of your Mac is. And it should tell you what type of video RAM size you have.
At any rate, IF you want to install OS X on this Mac, OS X relies on AGP graphics cards. PCI graphics work, but will not take advantage of various video technologies that rely heavily on AGP graphics.
As I have said, finding 2X AGP cards are tough and usually expensive.
Here's a link to a Mac reseller that has a 2X/4X AGP card compatible with a 2X slot
    http://www.welovemacs.com/1099170000.html
Not very cheap for older technology, but can be bought/replaced if your Mac has an AGP slot/card for graphics.
I believe these cards were that price when your vintage Mac was in vogue.
I would recommend just adding RAM, first to see how you like how OS X will perform with that before deciding on a video card upgrade.
If you have video AGP graphics card in your Mac, you will have to run the G4 firmware update, FIRST, before installing any version of OS X.
Here's the link to the update
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120068
I am assuming this has never been done to the Mac as this is the first time OS X will be installed?
You need to be careful when running this update as this program updates the firmware code on the Mac's Boot ROM chip. This is a one time program run only. IF something goes amiss, your Mac could be rendered dead. Just be careful when running this.
You'll have to decide what you want to do. OS X can be put on this Mac, but will take some cash and effort on your part.

  • How to use Internet Explorer 11 64 bits rather than the 32 bit version, on Windows 7 familial premium 64 bit

    Hi,
my system : up to date computer, W7 familial premium (64 bit), Internet Explorer 11 (32 bit)
I use this computer on the web to visit just one website, always the same and several hours a day ; this site advocate the use of Internet Explorer 64 bits for more efficiency.
How can I get to install, or switch to the 64 bit version of Internet Explorer, as presently when I try to install a downloaded version, I get as an answer something like "installation not possible because the more up to date version of Internet Explorer
is already installed on your computer". Thanks

    Hi,
On a 64-bit version of Windows, please click system drive, there should be a “Program Files” and “program Files x86”,
the "Program Files" folder is for 64-bit programs and the "Program Files (x86)" folder is for 32-bit programs, you will find IE11 64 bit has already installed in you system in “Program Files”>”Internet explorer”.

  • How to open Internet Explorer files?

I have a bunch of Internet Explorer files that I transferred from my old OS 9 iMac. Now, it seems, I can't open any of them. These are web pages I saved for research purposes, and I would really like to open them if at all possible. It was suggested that Opera 9 could open Internet Explorer files; but, I tried that and it didn't work. Does anyone know how I might do that?
    Carl Kalwaitis

Archives that you saved with Internet Explorer can only be opened by Internet Explorer.
These are essentially a single file that contains the entire site.
Other browsers save files, pictures, and supporting information in a folder for each page you save.
But, Internet Explorer wraps all that into a single file (a web archive). This format is naturally only compatible with Internet Explorer.
You need to get the latest version of Internet Explorer for Mac OS X.
Microsoft has officially abandoned this browser. So, they are not offering it or supporting it anymore.
But, you can still locate a copy for downloading at:
    http://web.nickshanks.com/browsers/ie/macosx
    Hope this helps.
