How to upgrade IP/KVM Console AF620A via serial interface?

Hi
I've got a "HP 1x1Ex8 KVM IP Console Switch G2 with Virtual Media CAC Software - AF620A" which is not booting correctly anymore.
Symptoms:
- blank screen
- status leds constantly blinking
- serial output hangs after "Booting:1.2.10.15038"
Hooking up to the serial interface, the terminal gives me, that the current version as well as the alternate version of the used firmware is 1.2.10.15038. As far as I was able to find out, I should upgrade to the latest firmware in order to get rid of the problem and make the device usable again.
My problem is, that I don't know how to upgrade the firmware via the serial console, knowing that the device is not booting up the firmware.
Yes, I've done a factory reset as well as a configuration reset. No change ...
I've opened up the case to see if there is any hardware reset button, but there is none. The only thing I found is a 4pin header labeled "HDR2" but neither the user guide not the technical guide gives any details about the interior of the device (of course not ...).
Has anyone had the same problem with this or any similar device?
Or does anyone has a good advice what I could try to revive the KVM?
greetings

I finally got through the helpline, but as my device is out of warranty, the official solution for my problem is to buy a new device!
Ending is better than mending ... welcome our the brave new world ...

can anyone knows how to block my ipod touch 5th gen via serial number ? the one who stole my ipod touch has the capabilities about idevices .. i want atleast to block my stolen ipod for them not to use it or atleast that device is not being a useful one .. sorry for my bad english hope you guys get my point, many thanks in advace .. please suggestions?

You can't block (nor locate) it via the serial number.
If you had Find My iPod enabled on it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPod disabled on it (if it was on iOS 7 as your tagline suggests then Find My iPod should be harder to disable).
You've reported it to the police ? You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • How Do You Send the END KEY via Serial?

    Hello All,
I'm trying to do something that would seem simple, but is not because almost no information about the END KEY on keyboards is posted online.  Essentially, I'm trying to activate a device that comes out of sleep when someone presses the END KEY through hyperterminal or some ascii based command window.  I'm trying to send that END KEY automatically using Labview, but I'm stuck. So here are my questions.
Does the END KEY have a specific ASCII number?  I'm getting 2 different answers in my search for this one.
If it doesn't, how do I send that command over the serial communications line?
If it does, then what's the best way to convert it to something that labview understands as the END KEY, and not some combo of characters?
    Thanks a bunch.
    Matt

You would have to find out the character that is mapped to the END key and simply send that out the serial port. You may want to try sending 0x4f". At least this is what I found for the mapping of the END key.

  • How to control more than one instrument via different interfaces at the same time

Hi, I am new to Labview.  I am working in a project where I have to make a Automated testing tool . So, here is the set up -  I have a Chip on a board to which there are several instruments connected namely Agilent power supply, Agilent pattern generator, oscilloscope,Dmm and Thermotron. All these instruments will be connected to the host computer via ethernet, GPIB or RS232. I have to write a program on Labview where the program  should be able to communicate with these  instruments  at  the same time  and show the ouput  on display unit . I have to run the program once, should be able to view the ouputs. So, Is it possible to write such program in Labview??.  I have  downloaded  few instuments  drivers. Is it possible to combine those intrument drivers and construct a new VI which would be able to control all this ??   Will it be easier to program this on Labview or  I should  go for Labwindows/CVI  ??.
Please mention some useful sites or tips (if u know) for writing program.
    Thanks in advance
    shasanka

    Hi Shasanka,
ofcourse it's possible to control more than one instrument at a time.
You should use the VISA routines to access all your devices. Every device get it's 'address' as 'VISA resource name'. This resource name contains information on the used bussystem and the (internal) device address (i.e. GPIB devices have an address number).
So I suggest to read the manual and to look at the examples that come with LabView!
And (from your question) it seems you should take the 3 or 6 hour seminar as well! (Look at www.ni.com -> academics.)

  • Console access via SERIAL MGT port on v210

This is a simple question. I just want the standard way to use Hypertem off my laptop in order to have a CONSOLE session on a v210. NOT AOLM, I want to be able to have console access, running in single user mode, etc.
I have a USB SERIAL connector that ends with a DB-9 connector. I have a NULL MODEM cable, DB-9 at both ends.
I am supposed to use the RJ-45 SERIAL MGT port on the back of the v210, correct?
I believe then that I need a connector that is RJ-45 on one end and DB-9 at the other. And so, where do I get that? I have seen a silver connector like that when I have opened new servers before. But I don't have one. Can I buy one???

If you have a Sun support contract you can ask your local support team to provide you with a T3 connector kit. If no contract, http://www.infosystemssupply.com/products77.html

  • How does one Component access another Component via Component Interface ?

    Folks,
Hello. I have developed my project as 2 Components ( A and B). I have created a Search Record and a Component Interface for each Component.
Now, a push button in a page in Component A needs to access all pages in Component B via its Component Interface. What are the steps to do for Component A to access Component B via their Component Interface ?
    Thanks.

You could define the PeopleCode to make the Component Interface work on the FieldChange event of that push button you were talking about, but it would be better to put your PeopleCode in a Save event. To do that, you would use the DoSaveNow() function on the button's FieldChange event. Then, that would trigger a save, and you could put your code on the SavePostChange of any field or on the Component itself.
Once you decide on an event, the easiest way to start is to open the blank PeopleCode window. Also, place the Component Interface in your project. Next, drag the Component Interface from the Project and drop it into your PeopleCode editor window. This will generate a bunch of PeopleCode that you can use as a starting place.
The Component Interface allows you to remote control a component as if your code were a user sitting at the Browser. So, when coding the program that uses the Component Interface, you have to have that mindset. It helps me to open a browser and walk through what I want my code to do. Then, I code each step as I do it online.
There is probably a lot more that you need to know, but is this a good starting point? Is it somewhat on track with what you were asking? Let me know were to go from here with more information.

how to upgrade firmware on 7921g wireless phone from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 via USB?
The 7921g is connected via USB to a PC. I am using a browser to access the phone. Documentation says "Click the Phone Upgrade hyperlink under SYSTEM options. " but that option is not present or not visible.

You can use the Phone Upgrade area on the web page to upgrade firmware files on the phones by using the USB connection or by using the WLAN. To upgrade the phone software, enter the phone software TAR (firmware file name) or use the Browse button to locate the firmware file on the network.
To display the Phone Upgrade area, access the web page for the phone as described in the Accessing the Configuration Web Page for a Phone section available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7921g/5_0_1/english/administration/guide/21adm50.pdf

Only the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Sounds like the phone was hacked to unlock it originally. Find out what carrier it is locked to, and look up their contact information using google or the search engine of your choice.

  • Does anyone know how to upgrade from 4.1 to 4.3 ios?

After being tricked by the fast talking smoothy helper at Apple store in London to buy a micky mouse ipodtouch (fourth generation) two years ago I am stuck at ios 4.1 and find that all the useful applications need 4.3 or more. So I went to the trouble of letting the macbook stay open all night to load yet another micky mouse version of itunes so that I can upload the more recent version of ios and now (since I don't want to continually have a lot of rubbish on the ipod I disabled the automatic sync "feature") I can only go round in circles  whereby the only real possibility left is to turn on the autosync feature. I have had messages like "your ipod will be completely erased if you proceed" and "do you wish to fiddle another few days with this nasty system, then click on continue" and so on.
Does anyone know how to upgrade from 4.1 to 4.3 ios?
That would be great (maybe) because otherwise I will toss this children's waste product on the floor and set up my HD camera to show how easy it is to smash the brightly lit screen into pieces and relieve myself of trash which Apple sell to unsuspecting gullible humans who believe that they are not being tricked by such a nice company who produce shiny colourful gadgets which only work for a month or two before becoming 100% obsolete.
Great to hear from those who have wasted many months of their lives and discovered how to trick the system into doing a simple update operation!
I am insulted by the tricks that fool many and that apple pretend are "necessary".

Illaass, your help is amazing - miles better than anyone working in this part of the world who is paid - and you do this for free - because, like me, you LOVE to help people!
BUT, as I said above -
    1. There is nothing "mobile" under Application Support. For whatever reason.
    2. Devious - that Apple has set up iPod to not show in Finder - a red herring and sign that corruption is visible.
I will try iFunBox next and it sounds like they provide this for the more serious users but use a trivial name to excuse further strangeness.
    After
There are purchased items on the iPod that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating the iPod. Are you sure you want to continue?
    I get
Updating to iOS 6.1.5 will backup and restore the apps, media, contacts, notes, and settings on your iPod touch.
Please do not interrupt the update, which may take an hour or longer to complete.
    Cancel          Update
And then I wait for hours to arrive at the above mentioned
    Backing up iPod   \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Stop
    and then as above
An error occurred while backing up this iPod (0xE8000084). Would you like to continue to update this iPod?
Continuing will result in the loss of all contents on this iPod.
    Cancel                Continue
and so we are back to where we always land - the user is left in the Apple designed sabotage situation which annoyed me so much initially.
"Most users will give up at this point, loose all the data or buy yet another disposable from Apple. Less than 3% will work their way to this site and 90% of the 3% will leave the iPod to gather dust in the hope that someone will help later. In all, Apple gains, since people blame themselves for "mistakes" which Apple programmed to throw out users who do not take the 100% Apple path. But Illaass and myself still play the game of "trying to fix" something which Apple don't allow."  was the comment which I was going to write but decided against it, adding no value to the conversation other than explaining one reality which we all hoped could be wrong but which I thought to have a very high chance of being closer to the truth.
Apologies for my doubts towards the integrity of the creators.

So it looks like I may have lost all the important pictures documenting various items all around Europe for the last two years - luckily I moved a year ago from the iPod toy camera to a Panasonic real camera with SD card which can be read on any computer. Hence important items lost may only be older than one year rather than the most recent items.
Glad I have changed to Panasonic since they don't try to screw you when you don't use their system.
I will now check the "more information" rather than just click on "OK" since I am of the 3% who "don't accept cr*p".
For full information I quote that the iPod now shows a screen with a USB ikon, an upward arrow and an iTunes ikon (all micky mouse language which reduces transparant, clear and technical discussion and thus covers the trail of "where things went wrong").
The iPod is still attached to the computer but the above MMTALK may mean that the iPod should be attached via USB to the mac. I record much of this activity on Video to be able to later prove EXACTLY what occurred, rather than having to rely on screenshots and opinions. We are after all dealing with important items which may later be required to be shown in court, as evidence against fraudsters.
The "More Information" link leads to
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes
which I have already seen before.
I clicked on OK and a help screen (unnamed as ever because no one like myself demanded that the help screens be named for later discussion) arrived:

while copying this into this message the computer began to start up Final Cut Pro and this was cancelled, then iTunes came up with a message:
iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
    ok
And I presume the earlier message about helping Apple is gone because I keep getting interrupted by this message called
iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
    ok
it has appeared now at least six times interferring with anything else I do. Each time I try to write, this message appears and blocks, but only when I write. I tried to do a carriage return and the message appeared taking the carriage return as acceptance of the OK in the
iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.
    ok
Message. But since I have not removed the USB and keep returning to this message I am able to write for a few seconds (now 30 seconds or more) and the message remains on the screen but not blocking this conversation. It appears to be random but in fact as you can later see from the video, it is not reappearing each periodic number of seconds but as I reach a new comment.
I will try to close iTunes so that this can be stopped (I clicked on OK and it appeared another few times, each time I clicked on ok and now it has left me in peace to write here although iTunes is still not yet closed).
Difficult to log down all the strange behaviour but I think you can get the gist of what is going on.
    2014 01 12 12 49 27
Should I remove the iPod and stop iTunes? I have a nasty feeling turning to indifference since I have video footage which will verify all the above in a court of law if later required. The truth must always win over any devious attempts at forcing people to do things they don't want to ;-)

    Dear Doron
Solution Manager system will never physically participate in the upgrade of a Netweaver Server. It will only help you to find the right files via the maintenance optimizer. Also if you want to develop / use a Project for your upgrade you could use the upgrade roadmap and then use Solution Manager as a Project Management tool for the upgrade.
Besides this there will be no guide available for "upgrading" a system, since the upgrade roadmap is generic and the maintenance optimizer feature is isolated from the roadmap. You will have to follow the upgrade guides available on
    http://service.sap.com/instguides.
Hope that this answers your query.

  • How to upgrade RMAN catalog from 10.2.0.4 to 11?

Hi, we are on Oracle 10.2.0.4, Solaris 5.10. Our RMAN catalog is 10.2.0.4 version and we have several 11g databases that need to connect to the catalog and obviously cannot. So we need to upgrade the catalog to 11. Does anyone have any docs on how to do it. Do I need to upgrade RMAN database to 11 via conventional upgrade and then do UPGRADE CATALOG? Really confusing, any help would be very appreciated.
    Thank you!

    You need to:
1 - upgrade the recovery catalog database
2 - upgrade the recovery catalog Schema
Please check the details on note *452529.1 Recovery catalog for RMAN backup*.
Normally newer databases (target) can be cataloged on previous version catalog database, but with 11g there is the bug 6756872 (RMAN REGISTER OF 11G TARGET INTO 10G CATALOG FAILS WITH ORA-04028) which force you to upgrade the catalog.
You can also review RMAN Compatibility Matrix (Note 73431.1) which has all valid version combinations.
If your scenario is simple enough, another option could be create a new 11g RMAN catalog and register there your databases, without importing data from the 10.2 catalog.
    Regards.

How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
        1.    Go into the iPad's Settings.
        2.    Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
        3.    The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
        4.    Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
        5.    Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
        1.    If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
        2.    Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
        3.    After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
        4.    If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
        5.    After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
        6.    From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
        7.    After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
        8.    After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • How to upgrade ios 5 in ipad 2

How to upgrade ios 5 in ipad 2?

Not sure whether you want to upgrade to iOS 5 or you have iOS 5 and want to upgrade from it, but you can only update to the highest iOS 6 version that a device supports, which for an iPad 2 is 6.1.3. If you already have iOS 5+ then you should have a Settings > General > Software Update option on it for direct update update on it, otherwise you can only update via your computer's iTunes.
To update via your computer, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand sidebar of iTunes and selecting 'Backup' (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC)
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand sidebar, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

  • How to upgrade system from serial communication to parallel communication

    Hi,
I am working on Lab VIEW 8.5.In my project I am using ADAM cards(7) for analog/digital inputs/outputs. Communication is done via RS 232 serial cable. Right now my system is working fine, but if i want to make it more fast i will need to use parallel communication right? Because Simultaneous inputs and outputs are processed. How much my communication file will change? Which card i should use?
How to upgrade system? On which factors it depends or it affects? I need guide lines.
    Thank you

Do not forget to Mark solution and to give Kudo if problem is solved.

    Hi
In your setup you have a ADAM 4250 RS232/485 repeater talking with 7 instruments in a network. Each instrument have a unique address, and you can only address 1 instrument at a time. If you need more speed you have to insert more ADAM 4250 units in your system and more RS232 ports on the PC. Identical ADAM instruments may receive commands over the same communication line, but transmit data on a unique communication line. You can not use the parallel port in your setup at all. This is not a Labview problem but a hardware problem. If speed is critical maybe the Ethernet I/O Modules: ADAM-6000 series are better for your setup
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)
