How to upgrade ipad 1 to ios7.

How to upgrade iPad 1 to iOS 7 software

This is a very old argument/issue.
The original iPad hasn't been able to use a newer iOS version since iOS 6 came out almost 2 years, ago.
The original iPad simply does not have necessary hardware and RAM capacity to handle any of the newer iOS versions.
The original iPad is grossly underpowered to run any newer iOS versions and newer apps.
This is price early iPad adopters' had to pay (myself included).
Newer iPads after the original iPad have better/powerful CPUs and more RAM capacity.
The original iPad only had 256 MBs of RAM.
The iPad 2 has 512 MBs of RAM.
The newer iPads now have, at least 1 GB of bulit-in RAM and even more powerful CPUs, now.
If you want to take advantage of the latest iOS and upcoming iOS 8, you need to upgrade to either a newer/refurbed iPad or brand new, up to date iPad models.
It's that simple.

  • How to upgrade iPad mini to ios7?

    Hi,
I have bought my son a new iPad mini but it is still running on an old OS. I have tried upgrading to ios7 and the download isn't going anywhere. It says 'estimating time remaining' and has done so for the past day. I can't see anywhere to cancel the download and restart- is this possible? Someone suggested doing it through a computer but I don't have one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

If you don't have a PC, this is the only way (OTA or over-the-air) to update the iOS on the device. Apples servers are probaby very busy with new activations and new users installing updates.
To cancel the install (try again later when it's not so busy), try this:
Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:
Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"
    Reset your device:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
After the device has restarted, sign back in to the App Store as above.

  • Just upgraded ipad 2 to ios7 and it keeps shutting down every 30 seconds

I just upgraded my ipad 2 to ios7 and it now shuts down every 30 to 45 seconds.  It blacks the screen out and goes to the black screen with the white apple on it and then it will come back up to the sign on screen after a couple of minutes.  Once I sign on it repeats the same process over and over again.  Tried to run Apple diagnostics on it but it shut down again.
I now own a useless piece of equipment.

    Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • Why is the toolbar in safari now black with white text after upgrading ipad 2 to ios7?

My (retired) mum downloaded ios7 onto her ipad 2 yesterday but is now complaining that when she launchez Safari and uses google, the toolbar at the top of the screen is black with white text. She remembers something popping up during upgrade in the left of her screen about Privacy (?) which she clicked. Is there any way to return the tool/menu bar to its standard white with black text? Thanks.

Tap the blue + sign in the upper right part of the toolbar. That will open a new tab with Favorites on the screen, if she has favorites in Safari. In the lower left corner she will see the word Private. Tap that to return to normal viewing mode again.

  • How to upgrade Ipad 1 to iOS 5.1.1

When trying to upgrade apps, get message to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1
    How do I do that

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

  • How to upgrade to iOS6, not iOS7

    How can I upgrade my iPad2 (Wi-Fi + 3G) from iOS5.1.1 to iOS6?

You cannot.  The way Apple distributes updates for iOS is based on your hardware.  The update system will detect your hardware, and will only offer the choice of updating to the latest iOS release compatible with your hardware.  For an iPad 2 or newer, that is now iOS 7.0.2 - that will be the only option available to you.

  • How to upgrade iPad to 4.2 and SKIP backup entirely??

Yes, I'm one of those folks who have been awaiting 4.2 so that I can finally backup my iPad again. But unfortunately during the 4.2 update process, the updater proceeds to start the backup phase.... which for me takes over 24 hours alone plus. (And yes, I have tried all the solutions before you even bother to ask, and nothing works.) So I try hitting X during the update, but all it does is cancel the whole backup.
Has anyone discovered a way to bypass the Backup portion of the 4.2 updater yet?

The free BackOff utility effectively turns off backup even during software upgrade.
    http://www.digidna.net/products/backoff
Don't forget to turn it back on after upgrading, as I believe backup issues have been solved in 4.2 (backing up now, after a successful upgrade).

  • How I upgrade iPad 1software to iOS 6.0

I can not down load Facebook  linkeden all ask for iOS 6

You can't update a first gen iPad to iOS 6 or 7, if it's on iOS 5.1.1 then it's on the highest version that it supports.
Some developers allow you to download previous compatible versions of their apps. You could try downloading the current version of the Facebook app on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history, and then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it

  • Is it possible to upgrade iPad 1 to iOS7?

Does anyone know? Mine stopped updating at iOS 5.1.1, and insists this is completely up to date. It's an iPad 1.

iOS 5.1.1 is the most recent version for the original iPad. iOS 7 needs the iPad 2 or later. See > http://www.apple.com/ios
