How to upgrade iphoto  to current appleid

Sometime in the past I must have upgraded iPhoto and iMovie using an obscure Apple ID (not my usual one). I repeatedly receive alerts to update these two programs and several others using the obsolete Apple ID. I've removed that Apple ID from my computer (iMac 2011) and cannot update these programs. I'd appreciate any help in a workaround to this problem. Thanks so much. Don

Either use the correct Apple ID or contact the App store support - they are the only ones who can address account issues - there is a link on the right side of the App store window

  • How to upgrade iPhoto

Using IMAC with OSX 10.6.8 and Iphoto 7.1.5. Tried to order photo book {it will be my 4th} and informed need to upgrade my Iphoto as iPhoto 7 cannot now be used for photobooks.  Looked at MAC store to buy upgrade but saw that latest IPhoto is only compatible with OSX 10.9.  Is this correct - I must also buy new OS in order to use iPhoto???

    Hi jonty123,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The new Mavericks OS X 10.9 is a free upgrade from Snow Leopard.
Mavericks has to be installed in order to upgrade to iPhoto '11.

  • HT4052 how to upgrade iphoto 8.1.2 to iPhoto 11?

I have MBP OS 10.6.8 and want to upgrade iPhoto 8.1.2 to iPhoto '11 so my iPhoto Library from my MBA which uses iPhoto '11 with OS 10.6.8 can be opened. I have gone to the Apps stall to purchase the upgrade and I get this message
"iPhoto 8.1.2 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store
Do you want to buy iPhoto 9.4.3?"
I need help as I am not sure what the Apps is refering to as I want iPhoto '11. Any help wll be appreciated. Thanks

    Pease re-read my answer
    the solution is
Purchase a iLife DVD from Amazon or ebay - install it on your MPB (do not install it on your MBA)
You can not purchase iPhoto '11 from the App store unless you have OS X 10.7.5 or above which is why I did NOT suggest purchasing a download of iPhoto from the App store but purchsaing an iLife '11 DVD form Amazon or Ebay - I did not suggest going to the App store in any way

  • How to upgrade iPhoto for mac 7.1.5 to iPhoto 9.5

What's the easiest way to upgrade iPhoto ver. 7.1.5 to latest iPhoto ver. 9.5? Just upgraded my OSX to Mavericks. Have downloaded and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader and upgraded my iPhoto libraries. Is it easier just to buy the newest iPhoto from the app store ($14.99) and install it?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    MK

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Correct. You are using iPhoto '08, so iPhoto 9.5 is a paid upgrade for you. Open the Mac App Store and purchase iPhoto, so iPhoto 9.5 will be downloaded automatically. Then, open it and the library will be upgraded to be able to use it with iPhoto 9.5.
The Mac App Store may show you an error if you try to purchase iPhoto when you still have got the old version in the Applications folder. If this happens, delete the old version or copy it to an external disk

  • How to upgrade iphoto from 1.1.1 to 4.0 for use with IPOD

I have a 5th gen IPOD and want to put photos on it but I need Iphoto 4+ to do so. I have OS 10.4.3 but only version 1.1.1 of Iphoto. I have downloaded the upgrade to 5 but it does not see a newer version and will not let me install it. How can I upgrade?

Simply said if you really are runnign on Mac OS X 10.4.3 which is (Tiger) the n you technically should have the latest iphoto because it comes packaged in the the newest OS. If you ned an update then run software update on your imac and see if a update appears dor iphoto. If not then all i cna think is that you must either not have and you will need to purchase ilife 05 to get the latest version because its not a free update or that youare running on an older OS like panther in which you will still ned to buy ilife o5
You also might get better luck asking this in the iphoto discusison board since thats what your post is mainly about.

  • How to upgrade iphoto 8.1.2 to the latest version????

My Imac is 2009.   I have Lion 10.7.2   I want to update to the latest Iphoto.  When I click on download in the APP store,  all I get is some nonsense about how I am " subscribing to a photo feed" and "am I sure I want to do that?"    I can't get the download to happen.   What the heck is this stuff about  photo feeds?    I tried contacting the app store online chat help,  but they didn't have a clue.   How can I get the latest version of Iphoto?  Since is costs $14.99 , can I get it on a CD?

That really is one for the App Store, I'm afraid. You don't click on download in the App Store though, you'll be clicking on Buy. And no, you can't get iPhoto only on disk you will need to purchase the whole iLife 11 suite for 49.99

  • How to save iPhoto library (currently on partition of external hard drive) on to iMac's internal hard drive

I have my photos stored on an external hard drive (Maxtor). The external hard drive has been split into two partitions, with the photos in one and the rest in another. This was because my (very) old Mac did not have space in its internal hard drive and I set it up so that the photos were only saved on to the external drive.
Now I have a new iMac (with OS x 10.8.2 Mountain Lion) with more space, I'd like to save the photos on the internal drive and back them up on the external drive.
I have tried various things such as  saving the iphoto library on the desktop and then dragging and dropping it into the iPhoto icon, holding down the Option key. None of this has worked and I only have 'fingernail' copies of the photos - the 'volumes' only appear to be on the external hard drive. When the external drive is not connected it says that the volumes cannot be found.
I have tried saving a new version of the iphoto library with a different name and directing the computer to that but that did not work. Perhaps it is an issue with the volume, or the library the computer/iphoto is selecting?
Am not sure what to do next. Do I somehow need to set up my external hard drive differently as it still seems to be configured to only save photos on there, or save iphoto library in a different place?  Any help would be much appreciated.

I have tried various things such as  saving the iphoto library on the desktop and then dragging and dropping it into the iPhoto icon,
Never do this - this imports one iPhoto library into the new one which does not work and creates a massive mess
    holding down the Option key.
If you depress the option key and launch iPhoto you get a select library window - you use this to select a different iPhoto library or if you have moved the existing iPhoto library to select its new location
When the external drive is not connected it says that the volumes cannot be found.
This is a symptom of a referenced library which is strongly not recommended - in the iPhoto preferences is the preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library" checked (default) or have you unchecked it?
I have tried saving a new version of the iphoto library with a different name and directing the computer to that but that did not work.
What does not work about this?
the way to move an iPhoto library is to simp;y drag it intact as a single entity to the new location and to depress the option key, launch iPhoto and select the new location
However if you have a referenced library then you need to post back for more information

  • How to upgrade to quicktime 7 pro on mac osx10.6

I purchased the upgrade to QT 7 pro mac osx but i cant figure out how to upgrade from my current QT player on leopard 10.6.2 to the pro. can any help?

Those seem like OS error codes. Are they the same for all Apple programs?
The default QT player for Snow Leopard is QT X which cannot be upgraded to "Pro" status. Check to see if the QT 7 Player is installed (found in the "Utilities" folder if already installed). If not, then use the Snow Leopard installation disk to custom install just the QT 7 (v7.6.3) package which then can be QT Pro registered using the File menu "Registration" option when QT 7 is open.

Not sure why the adobe email bounces, but they probably can't get you anything more than a contact for a reseller anyhow.

  • How to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested.  You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases.  It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade?  If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

  • How and with what version to upgrade iphoto on MAC OS 10.5.8 with iphoto 08, version 7.1.5.

    I have a MAC OS 10.5.8 with i photo 08, version 7.1.5.
I prepared a photo book to order via the Apple Shop as i did several times before without any problems.
But this time  when it comes to order the book I get the message" Version 07 no longer valid". I need to upgrade iphoto but I don't know how.
How do i upgrade and will the iphoto 11 work on my old MAC? or is there another version I can use
thks a lot beacuse I am a little lost

Before upgrading to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, you need to first purchase a retail install disc of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to install first.
If you are from Canada or France, you need to get this discs from an online Apple website in your country.
Here is the disc you need here in the U.S. Apple Store website.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After getting this disc and installing the initial version of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, you can use OS X Software Update feature to update to OS X 10.6.8 where that update gives you access to the Mac App Store and the free upgrade to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, if you choose.
Another thing you need to do is to upgrade the amount of system RAM in your Mac.
Currently, your Mac only has 2 GBs of RAM installed. This a bare minimum, paltry amount of RAM for running the newer versions of OS X.
Newer versions of OS X really need a real working, mimimum RAM amount of 4 GBs.
Your Mac model can take a total of 6 GBs of RAM.
I advise installing the complete total 6 GBs of RAM.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
OWC ( macsales.com) has the 6 GB RAM module kit.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/5300DDR2S6GP/
If you are not from the U.S., OWC (macsales.com), I believe, has international shipping of their products.

Upon upgrading iPhoto, iPhoto Help no longer works.  It gives the error message:  "The selected topic is currently unavailable. To see all iPhoto Help, you must be connected to the Internet."   I am obviously connected to the internet since you are reading this.
I tried upgrading permissions but it did not help!?  Can anyone tell me what is wrong?  Thanks

    Try
Reboot the computer, see if that fixes it.
    Then try:
Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk and simply reinstalling OS X
Log in and update to 10.6.8
c boot off the 10.6 disk again and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk
reboot and all should be fine, except some third party programs that install kext files, those will have to be reinstalled from fresh sources.
