how do upgrade itunes v 10.6.3 to itunes v 11.1 on mac osx v 10.5.8 to run iphone 5s, please?

iTunes 11.1 requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer; Mac OS X 10.6 requires a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM, and can be purchased on DVD from the online Apple Store.

  • How to upgrade iTunes on iPad

How do I upgrade my iPad with the latest version of iTunes?

You don't. The iTunes on the iPad is only the store. And updates itself with the general iOS update.
If a anything is requiring updating iTunes it's the iTunes application on your computer that needs updating.

  • How to upgrade iTunes 12 BACK to 11?

So, in every way I can think of, iTunes 12 seems to have wrecked everything good about iTunes . . . .
    1) no side bar
    2) poor contrast and hard to read
    3) haphazard UI with like items arranged in all the wrong places
    4) entering meta data is difficult and if you change the media type, you have to close the window to apply the affect, then find it in the new media window, get info a 2nd time, then enter the data
    5) it seems to randomly apply names to files I import and them place them in all the wrong media locations, etc . . .
6-20) blah blah more rants cause it's just that bad
So, how do I restore iTunes 11 and get rid of this •••••• version 12?

  • I just upgraded iTunes to version 11, how do I get rid of shared music on my computer?

I have two computers in my house: my dad's, which is basically the family computer, and my personal one. I just upgraded iTunes to 11 only to find all the music on his computer is on mine as well, even though it wasn't there before. All of these new things have little cloud icons in the corner. I really don't want this stuff on my iTunes, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I've tried deleting it to no avail, and I can't find any way to turn off the Cloud sharing. Is there any fix for this, or will I just have to downgrade to 10.7?

You want all music on your iPhone removed from the iPhone?
If so and you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab or setting for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, deslect Sync Music under the Music tab or setting for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.

I know this doesn't help you Bud, but I've had this issue for at least the last couple of versions.  If I can ask, what is you enviornment like?  Local PC only, libray saved on another PC/Server?
In my case my library is on Windows 2003 server with the share mapped to drive M:  This has worked for many years through both XP and Windows 7 until and update a while ago.

  • HT1338 Anybody know how to upgrade online OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6 or higher so I can sync my new IP 5 to Itunes?

I'm trying to sync and activate a new IP 5 and getting a mandatory Itunes upgrade message.  When I try to upgrade Itunes, I'm told I need to upgrade OS X to 10.6 or higher.  When I go to software updates it says none are available.  I'm currently running 10.5.8.  I've gone to the Apple store to try and upgrade with no luck.  Any ideas?  Do I have to purchase Snow Leopard?  If so, is it possible online?
    Thanks for any advice.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

Have you tried on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem?

  • How to upgrade individual songs to iTunes Plus?

How can I upgrade individual songs to Plus? I only see how to upgrade my entire library.

I agree on wanting the option to upgrade individual songs.
My iTunes Plus has over 800 songs for a whopping $247!!! Not going to happen ANYTIME soon to drop that much at once to upgrade the entire library.
I applaud Apple for getting this done and offering it to us, but next time I recommend testing it OUTSIDE corporate offices.
Hopefully a solution will come through soon.
