How to upgrade my Macbook Pro's Graphic Card?
I have a Early 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro and it's ***** when I play games.
Here are the specs:
- 2.8 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7
- 6 GB RAM
- Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
- OSX Mavericks 10.9.2
- 750 GB HDD 1333 MHz DDR3
It lags a lot when I play such an old games such as GTA Vice City (the FPS drops a lot when my mac getting hot) or GTA San Andreas (quite stable). Both of them aren't modded and still original. Is there any way to upgrade my Macbook Pro's graphic card?
You cannot upgrade the Graphics card on a laptop because everything is built into the logic board. Unfortunately your perticular graphics chip is actually built into the CPU, and is a very low performing chip which would definately make gaming hard.
Sorry for the bad news.

How to upgrade my macbook pro from 10.6.8?
i wish to upgrade my macbook pro from 10.6.8 what is the best way?
If you wish to upgrade from 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.x (Mountain Lion), first make sure that your model meets the minimum hardware requirements (http://support.apple.com/kb/sp654) and then download ML by purchasing it from the Mac App Store.

My son has a Macbook Pro 13" and for school, he needs a 15" or 17" screen for the graphic card and I want to know if the 13" be upgraded to have the graphic card needed for his requirements for school?

Specifically what is the school requirement? What for? -
Can i upgrade my 2006 macbook pro's graphics card?
I have a late 2006 MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro 2,1) and i would like to know whether or not i can upgrade the graphics card? If it is possible what are the restrictions? Thanks.
No. The GPU is soldered onto the logic board and cannot be replaced.
If you need to upgrade the machine, I'm afraid that the only solution is to purchase a new MacBook Pro.
Sorry,

How to Upgrade a MacBook Pro to SSD?
I bought one of the new MacBook pro, non-retina, notebooks a month or so after they came out. After doing so, I'm regretting my decision to go with the 1 terabyte obtion instead of the SSD. I'm finding start up time slow, but I'm well below 500 gb in usage. So I have some general questions. How much will it cost? Will it void the warrenty no matter what? How can I get it done? (I don't want to risk doing to myself)
You won't void your warranty by replacing either the internal hard drive or by replacing RAM - those are user upgradeable parts.
I've a 512GB Crucial m4 series and can highly recommend the drive. They're about $400 from Amazon (may be pretty much the same from Crucial - I've not checked lately).
It's a very simple procedure to DIY. All you need is a Phillips #00 and a Trox T6 screwdriver. There are gundreds of videos on YouTube that can walk you through the procedure.
Good luck - any more SSD questions, just call.

How to upgrade a MACbook pro 2009 with a SSD?
Need help installing an SSD into my mid 2009 MACbook pro.
Yes as Clinton says this is correct.
I've used a Sata to USB connector which is only a few pounds instead of an enclosure for the clone, but then I wasn't keeping mt old HDD. But that's an option if you don't need it.
I also use Carbon copy cloner as this will clone your recovery partition as well. Apples disk utility will also clone drives but I'm not sure that it copy's the recovery partition.
I highly redomend my Samsung 840 pro 256Gb - it's about the fastest drive you'll get (nearly) but is backed by Samsung's unrivaled SSD reliability and 5 year warranty. I've also used an 840 basic model on an older macbook and was equally pleased.
Crucial's drives are reliable mac friendly drives but are somewhat slower on the write speeds vs the 840 Pro.
I'd avoid OCZ drives due to so many failures across their range although they do have great reviews and some models just edge the Pro on speed although it's fairly negligible.
As Clinton says, avoid the Samsung Evo drive. I wanted to buy this drive as it is a great drive - but there are many users that have had compatibility issues with it when installed in a Mac. This may rectified on a future firmware update possibly, but until it's proven I would avoid it for now. -
Macbook Pro (aluminum) graphic card issue?
Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered but I can't seem to find an answer to my specific question. I have an older macbook pro, 17" running os x 10.6.8 (I believe.) It's one of the first intel versions with the square aluminum case. I did upgrade the RAM, which I've seen can cause some problems, but I don't think that's what's causing mine. It's been over a year since I installed the RAM and have only had a few messages about unstable RAM. I just restart and it goes away.
Anyway, was watching Netflix and paused it, when I started it again the video froze in weird lines. I restarted, everything was fine. Played the video again, this time it didn't even start, just straight to glitchy weird frozen video lines. Restarted again, apple splash screen and processing wheel come up like normal but now it just boots to white/grey screen.
I did the PRAM reset (or whatever it's called) and it didn't work. I also ran both Apple Hardware Tests (the short one and the long one) both came up empty. The computer WILL boot in safe mode. So I guess my question is, is this a graphic card thing or a third party thing? Any advice on how to go about "updating or uninstalling third party software?" Which is, I'm pretty sure, what I'm supposed to do. But with a five + year old computer, that's a very daunting task. It's a logic board failure. Thanks for all your help. I'm awarding myself 10 of your nerd points for solving my own problem.

My MacBook pro's graphics card isn't compatible with FCP X. What are my options here?
So I cant even try the free trial because there is no graphics card compatablility? I have an older macbook pro, 2006, running snow leopard.
What are my best options here for video editing?
I have used FCP before, so would prefer to get a version of that. Would it be dumb to try and get FCP 7?
Should I settle for Imovie?
My experience is advanced intermediate...
Any help would be appreciated. You cannot upgrade the Graphics card on a laptop because everything is built into the logic board. Unfortunately your perticular graphics chip is actually built into the CPU, and is a very low performing chip which would definately make gaming hard.

Help - VMWare Fusion, Macbook Pro, Vista, Graphics Cards & Games
Help, please ... We just purchased a new MacBook Pro with an NVida 8600M graphics card. The operating system is up-to-date.
I installed the latest version ov VMWare Fusion. Then installed Windows Vista Basic, and it is up-to-date with Service Patch 1. All the basic Vista services appear to work as it would on a PC.
Next, I installed the game Sims 2. When I try to run the game, I get an error message that says:
"... did not detect a hardware capable of running DirectX 9.0 ..."
I checked NVida and the 8600M is capable of running DirectX 10.0.
Does anyone have any idea on how I can get this game to work????
ThanksVMware is software emulation and at this point cannot use your graphics card. You need to install Vista using bootcamp and run it through there to have access to the graphics card. remember to install the boot camp files and all drivers after you install Vista

I've got a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2012 Non-Retina 2.9GHz intel core i7 model. Is there any way for me to install a graphics card in it? Upto 1 GB at least? If not, what is the maximum memory I can install? And which company's graphics card should I buy? I don't have a budget as my father won't buy me a new Macbook Pro, but he doesn't care what the graphics card costs. I know, it's silly, I could easily get the 15 inch retina display model, but I unfortunately bought this one as the Retina Display model was out of stock and I'd have to wait a week for it to arrive. I didn't have the patience, so I bought this one. Any help?

Is my 2011 15" Macbook Pro's graphics card standard/working correctly?
I have been trying to update the drivers for my AMD HD Radeon 6750M graphics card on my 2.2Ghz Macbook Pro 15 Late 2011, but when using the search option here I can't manage to find it? Was wondering if i'm not looking correctly or what..
Another question is whether or not it is standard to have 512mb of video ram with this computer, because in my profiler it only shows 512mb but from the site i bought it it stated 1gb of vram. It does have integrated gpu; intel hd graphics 3000 with another 512mb so do they work together to equate to 1gb?
Last query is whether it is normal to get the error 'your video card does not support alpha blending with floating point render targets' when trying to play a standard game (Super MNC) on bootcamp/virtual machine because i expected a video card in a model at a decent end of the range to be able to run games like this..
Some insight into either 3 of my queries would be appreciated,
cheers
JxznApple releases updates to the graphics drivers via software update. Normally updates are released with OS X updates. The computer switches use between the integrated card and the discrete card. When you access About This Mac it will only provide information of the card currently in use. Turn off Automatic Graphics Swithing in System Preferences>Energy Saver and then open About This Mac.

How would you upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" to maximize performance? No dollar limit.
I love my MCB, but am not technical.
Spend my money, theoretically -- If you had an unlimited budget to upgrade this system to make it fast and more efficient, what would you buy or do to it?
I'm deciding if I should scrap it and get a new MacBook Pro 13" instead. I like my MCB 15", but it seems to be getting hung up alot with the spinning rainbow, everyday apps freezing or crashing, and just slow when I have multiple windows open in Safari and Firefox at same time. I realize that the sites I browse to are more graphic intensive than they were when I got the MCB in 2008, but I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to spend some $$$ to upgrade whatever I can and save my pennies for a newer Mac in a year or two. Safari and Mail crash or get hung a lot, Photo Booth folder is mysteriously empty,
So should I expect to be able to get substantial performance improvement (speed, multi-tasking) if I upgrade whatever is upgradable?
I surf using multiple browsers and open many tabs and mail with numerous accounts and magicjack, ocassionally use iweb, pages, text, calendar, low intensity games.
Thanks for any advice and recommendations and thoughts. I'd probably get the Genius Bar to install upgrades.

Also -- it had a couple of soft drops to floor and one medium intensity drop, always on carpet. so the case (not unibody) is dented on the sides with ports. All "seem" to work fine except right side USB; looks pushed in and angled, and the plastic trim that fills in space connecting flat top of typing surface to bottom cover has a 4" piece cracked off (kind of looks like where grout would go). Devices work but if you move the wire it's power filckers off and on. Have never used firewire or thunderbolt ports on this.
I would like more USB port options (maybe a high grade extendor???) for Logitech laptop cooler, external HD, VOIP device, wired mouse, wired keyboard (I prefer wired).
Thanks again.Hello Neville,
Thanks for looking in to this and alerting me. I don't know how to interpret all the data in the descriptions of the USBs in your post (or mine, for that matter) Which descriptive line/codes show a USB 1.0 and a USB 2.0. I would like to understand how to read that.
Here's how I determined both are 2.0.
1. I checked my serial number at this Apple link and confirmed it is MacBook Pro 15" Early Version.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4132
2. Then I looked up the technical specifications at this Apple support link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP4
3. .Then I double-checked and looked up tech specs at this EveryMac link:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2 .4-15-santa-rosa-specs.html
Both links say two USB 2.0 ports. I just took it for granted that they are both correct.
Much appreciation for your help.

How do I upgrade my Macbook pro to OS 10.7
how do I upgrade my Macbook pro to OS 10.7
You need to buy 10.7 Lion.. it costs you 29.99 . But, 10.8 Mountain Lion is releasing in this month. It costs you 19.99.
Apple has noted that users can upgrade to 10.8 directly from 10.6.x. So, I would suggest you to wait till 10.8 is released and buy it for 19.99 and do and upgrade -
