How to upgrade online?

I recently started a contract with BT, chose the Broadband and Evening & Weekend Calls package. After one week of use, it became clear that 10GB traffic allowance is not enough for me.
I tried to upgrade my package to More Broadband and Evening & Weekend Calls online. However, when I proceed through the several pages of forms, I see that a router as well as the line rental are being included in the order.
I'm just trying to upgrade my broadband package here. I don't need a second router or another engineer visit. And I certainly don't need to pay the line rental again.
My question: can customers really upgrade online or are those forms only for new customers? If it is possible to upgrade online, what is the correct way to do it?

Called them, no luck. Apparently nothing seems to be working ... maybe because it's Sunday, said the guy. I didn't know machines would also take Sundays off. :-)
Anyway, long wait (£2.55) and nothing got done. And they want me to call tomorrow again from my mobile (I don't own a phone yet) and pay another potentially long call just to be able to upgrade my service.
I still don't understand why there is a need for me to call. I'm upgrading between two packages which are advertised on the website and I didn't get any alternative offers when I called. So it should be pretty standard for them to just apply that. Wouldn't it be much easier if customers were able to click on the website: "I want to upgrade to this particular package.", BT would sort it out in the background and only contact you if there were any problems with it?
This is not efficient! I shouldn't need to wait while BT tries to set up my service. I shouldn't need to call again for them to sort out the problem. They already know I want to upgrade. Why don't they just do it and let me know when it's done?

  • HT1338 Anybody know how to upgrade online OS X 10.5.8 to 10.6 or higher so I can sync my new IP 5 to Itunes?

I'm trying to sync and activate a new IP 5 and getting a mandatory Itunes upgrade message.  When I try to upgrade Itunes, I'm told I need to upgrade OS X to 10.6 or higher.  When I go to software updates it says none are available.  I'm currently running 10.5.8.  I've gone to the Apple store to try and upgrade with no luck.  Any ideas?  Do I have to purchase Snow Leopard?  If so, is it possible online?
    Thanks for any advice.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)

  • HT1766 How to upgrade my Ipod touch ios 4.2.1 to 5 or 6?

I tried to do it as suggested online, but couldn't find how to upgrade it through Itune on my PC.  My PC already has the most recent I tune.  When I connect my Ipod touch with it, no option for upgrade software either.
    Thanks!
    Vero

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware.
The maximum iOS version for the iPhone 3G and second generation iPod touch is 4.2.1.
The maximum iOS version for the third generation iPod touch and original iPad is 5.1.1.
The maximum iOS version for the fourth generation iPod touch is 6.1.5.

  • HT4561 how to upgrade operating system from 10.5.8 to mountain lion

How do upgrade my I MAC from MAC OS X ro Mountain lion?

To upgrade from OS X 10.5.8, you must first buy Snow Leopard by calling the phone number in the Apple Online Store: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US)
Make sure your system meets Snow Leopard's requirements:
Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" System Requirements
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
After you install Snow Leopard you can decide if you want to upgrade OS X to the latest version, Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store, which is available to you after upgrading to Snow Leopard.
Make sure your system meets the requirements for Mountain Lion:
Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" System Requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (RAM)
8 GB or more of available hard disk space
If your system does not support Mountain Lion's requirements, you may be able to upgrade to Lion. To do that you must call Apple again to order a download code. Redeem the download code in the App Store to download Lion. Lion costs 99¢ more than Snow Leopard.
Make sure your system meets the requirements for Lion:
Mac OS X 10.7 "Lion" System Requirements
Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon CPU
Core Duo CPUs are not sufficient for Lion
    2GB of memory (RAM)
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
To determine which Mac you have, what kind of CPU it uses, and how much memory is installed:  > About this Mac
The specified 2 GB minimum is barely adequate for either Lion or ML. They will run in 2 GB but you may not like its performance. 4 GB is a more realistic minimum.

  • Need information on how to upgrade from 10.5.8 to make computer compatable to iphone upgrade of 11.5.1

hi everyone:  I require some information on how to upgrade from 10.5.8 to make my mackbook pro compatable
with the iphone upgrade. Please note that I have gone thru the upgrades on this computer and it tells me there are
no new ones available...... I need to get my upgrade past the 11.5.1 level.....so do I need to purchase a new
upgrade program....and if so which one...as I have been thru the apple store and so far as i can tell
the ones that are listed such as maverik, lion and snow lepard are not high enough.
To anyone who replies, thankyou so much for taking the time to help me.  It is truely appreciated.

11.1.5 is likely to be the version of iTunes you are being asked to run, not the version of Mac OS X.
To get a higher version of iTunes, you likely have to upgrade Mac OS X. All Roads lead through the 10.6 Upgrade, available as a physical DVD only, from the Apple Online store for about US$20:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
This is one of the most benign Upgrades Apple has ever issued. The size of the Operating System gets smaller, performance is slightly faster, and very few Applications are left behind. If you have some older PowerPC Applications, you may need to ask to install the Optional Rosetta emulator for PowerPC code when you install.
Once your 10.6 install is fully Updated to 10.6.8 using Software Update, the Mac App Store will appear, and future upgrades (if needed) will be handled through variations of online purchases.

How to upgrade my Final Cut Pro 6 to X?

There is no upgrade to FCPX, you have to buy it for $299.99. Yes, Russ is right, FCPX is very different than previous versions, I realized that I would have to start from scratch with it. Look up free tutorials online, there are a few good ones. If you try and just jump in, you'll get very frustrated very fast. Take the time to learn it before you try any important projects. • How to upgrade RAM in iMac 2013 models

how to upgrade RAM in iMac 2013 models. I know one can ask for RMm upgrade while buying iMAC from online store. Is it advisable to upgrade the RAM by self or from some professional?

Even if you do get the 27",  RAM installation is a PTA to install.  Prior to setting up your computer on your desk, you must lay it it face down on a soft area (couch).  Then you have to maneuver your hand & fingers either around or under the pedal to pop open the RAM door.  When putting the RAM into the slots you need to use all of your God given muscles to get them in there.  Otherwise, while you are seating one RAM, the one next to it will pop right on out.
When you hear the "snap," the RAM is seated properly and it's neighbor(s) will not pop out.

  • How to upgrade First Generation Touch to use Remote for Apple TV

    Hello and thanks in advance.
Can anyone tell me how to upgrade the OS for a 1st Generation iPod Touch so that it can use the Remote App from I tunes to control the Apple TV device. It needs to be the 3.1.2 version, but Apple seems to offer only 3.1    I found the 3.1.2 version on a non-apple site and attempted to download and install it but it didn't work out. (Error 14). I was expecting to control the TV with my 1G Touch and am a little disappointed with Apple that the older Touch units seemingly cannot do this.  Any help appreciated.

You can buy 3.1 thru iTunes then use it to upgrade to 3.1.3.
