I'm trying to upgrade pages from the old version 4 to the new one 5
At the moment I think isn't for free and I've to buy again, but one the App store I can only choose upgrade to 5.0.1 after the download starting and the installation is compleated my pages version is always the old one and AppStore repropose me the same upgrade with the same result if I restart the upgrade again (the same think appen with numbers and Keynote)
What I've to to?

Considering how many features are lacking in Pages v5, that were in Pages v4, you might be more productive to continue using Pages ’09 v4.3 which should now reside in /Applications/iWork ’09/Pages.app. Another problem is that both the old version and the new version of Pages use incompatible document formats with the same .pages extension.

If you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac:
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.5.1 only runs on Yosemite and has yet another file format.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:
Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

I am currently running Mac OS 10.5.8. I understand Pages and Numbers (iWork '09) is now obsolete. How do I prevent the data in Pages and Numbers from becoming entombed?
In other words, how do I work on my old Pages and Numbers files after upgrading to Lion (10.7.x)?

iWork '09 is the current version. It is not obsolete, but it must be updated by running Software Update in order to use it on a newer OS version.
Documents made with earlier version of iWork are not obsolete either.

Perhaps you are loading a template that has a text block already on it.
You might try the blank template option and set that as your go to template in your preferences

First of all you must be running iTunes 10.5 on your computer if you want to update to iOS 5. The very latest version is 10.5.3 so if you are not running 10.5 download and install it.
Then connect your iPad to your computer, launch iTunes, click on the iPad name on the left under devices and then click on the Check for Update Button in the Summary pane of iTunes on the right.
ITunes should prompt you to update when the iPad is connected and iTunes is running, but you can click on the button to start the upgrade process to iOS 5 on your own if necessary.

I am just about giving up! I have upgraded Pages to 0.9 (4.3). Now when I copy text from an incoming email and paste it into Pages it pastes in as an Object and I can't work on it. It has a border round it and corner markers. I have never had this problem before. I have looked at every conceivable thing but cannot find how to get rid of this Object and just paste in the wanted text. If I fiddle and fiddle within this text I can eventually get a cursor and work on the text - but how on earth can I get rid of the surrounding box?
I don't know if this is at all clear but I can't think of any other way to describe this - but it looks like this in Pages with corner and top, bottom and side markers.

Peter hello - I have been copying and pasting for as long as I can remember and it has NEVER done this before - so why now!? Anyway, Jerry has told me about Paste and Match Style --- yet another new thing!
I have also discovered that I don''t need to hold down Option when I go to Save to get Save As - I can hold down 4 keys (shift, option, command and S) and it will bring up Save As!!

Are upgraded Pages files unable to be sent over email?

I haven't been able to successfully email upgraded .Pages files in Mavericks, has anyone figured this out? I've tried zipping it, sending it over basecamp, google drive, and dropbox.

I have encountered the same problem .. what a nightmare. I hope this is a temporary bug. I tried to send out invoices created in Pages 5.0 and got a whole load of failed delivery notifications. This new version isn't fit to be used by grown ups..! What were they thinking. How can you work with an application that creates documents that you can't send by email in this day and age.
Back to the old version ...
Free.. Apple will end up paying people to use this nonsense.

Yopu can stream it on the AppleTV from the internet under Movies > Purchased (or Purchases? I can never remember which!) which will bypass what's in iTunes provided AppleTV is configured in Settings for iTunes store for 1080p.
If you want a copy in iTunes, then go to Preferences and change download preference to 1080p. Then delete the 720p copy and redownload from the cloud (iTunes home page icon > Purchased link on the right). If you delete the 720p copy and it goes to trash or recycle bin, you can fish it out of there and add to iTunes later if you need a 720p version too (or SD if that gets trashed with the 720p copy).
Note - currently you cannot upgrade SD purchases to HD. Even for an upgarde fee.

You can only do this from a Mac running 10.7.5 or above, or Mountain Lion; or an iOS5 or above device; or the iCloud Control Panel on a compliant version of Windows.
If you only have access to the Mac and don't want to upgrade the system you could go to an Apple Store and ask the 'Genius' to do it for you (make an apppointment). Note that you won't be able to cancel the automatic renewal yourself .
If you decide to upgrade your Mac you will need to check that it meets the requirements.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.

Make certain you have all the Software Updates installed that are available for Mavericks. Periodically, Apple will provide printer driver updates from principal vendors. If this does not show up via Software Update for your printer, the relevant driver bundle can be searched and downloaded from Apple.
The following link may help. At the end of that content is how to reset your printer. Occasionally, this may become necessary following an operating system upgrade.

I would also recommend that you run Disk Utility and verify/repair permissions. Then verify the boot drive. You may find some Pages or printer driver content with the wrong permissions.
